This was a good lesson for me...I had no clue turbos were even sequential in the first place. man-i-can't-type, it's good that you've shut up for a while.

Thanks, Drifster, I noticed that. I don't think he knows what kind of knowledge he is dealing with. ;)

The thread that never die's....

It's almost pointless to go with a twin turbo kit on a car that come's with a single turbo from the factory. An additional turbo is extra heat, extra stress on the manifold, (4 cylinder & IL6) and generally is only talked about by people who don't have an understanding of turbocharging.

The exception is, if your going to make obscene ammount's of power, (800+whp) and you have a limitless checkbook and or resource's; a large single ball bearing turbo can make just as much power, at usually 1/2 the cost, with a minor increase in lag.

Here's a video of a Toyota Supra with a large single ball bearing turbo. It make's 400whp at 4500rpm and 900whp at 6000rpm. Right click and Save Target As.

Woons Supra

Monster 7, you're telling me that you shouldn't TT a 13BT? Remember there are people out there that make HP for a different reason......Like the guys from T04R, alot of them are building their supra's to make GREAT HP....not great 1/4 times......So.......If someone has an engine that they can effectively TT to get more power from....I aint got probs with em doin so......Hell even the Sr20DET can be TT'ed and modded and make hella more power than a SR20DET....like
A TT SR22DET.

I guess you missed my last post..

I'm telling you to chuck the twin's setup on a 13b-REW. Even if your going to autocross/road course and you don't need alot of power, going with a small-medium single setup will save the engine bay TON'S of heat, it will save you, or your mechanic the headache of having to trouble shoot when something goes wrong, etc. etc.

"If someone has an engine that they can effectively TT to get more power from....I aint got probs with em doin so."

You don't have "probs" with it, because you don't understand the work that goes into it, or the benefit's/lack there of. I'll say again, unless your going to make HUGE POWER, and an extra 500-1000 rpm's of lag is a major concern, going from a single setup, to a set of twin's, is a complete waste. Build a few engine's, and compare a few dyno graph's before you make a reply.

I read what you said Monster......I said 13BT...not 13B-REW....I'm well aware of the heat produced and the lagg that comes along with it....I also know that lagg is bad.........

You obviously didn't understand what I said...

I do realize how much money and how many man hours of tuning go into the high HP beast........But as I said.....NOT EVERYONE WANTS TO MAKE THE FASTEST CAR THERE IS......some people like the sake of having the most powerful....not the fastest....... guy with a 700HP supra can beat a guy with a 900 HP supra depending on the setup....but the thing is.....The guy has a 900HP supra..and i'm sure he's happy with that.

I go to college for custom paint & bodywork/automotive collision refinishing. For the last 9 year's, I've spent my free time working on making other people's car's go faster.

Being's you know an SC is a soarer, you probably know in Japan it has the 2jzgte twin turbo engine out of the MK4 Supra. In America, the SC is just another overlooked car.

Power House Racing is familiar with the swap.

^the soarer doesnt come with the 2jzgte 3l mate. it comes with the 1jzgte 2.5l. this engine comes in essentially two forms, the earlier twin turbo version, and the later single turbo vvti equipped donk. surprisingly, the 1st gen can support 270+rwkw with the standard turbos in place. VERY ****en impressive engine. in any case, in the pursuit of real power, most often the vvti head is replaced with the non variable valve timing version...

very impressive engine, extremely undervalued. as everyone has already said, a well tuned giant turbo engine can run as well on the street as a twin turbo version. for the record, it is extremely difficult to set up an aftermarket sequential sytem with a/m turbos, thus as someone has already pointed out, the system is abonded once real power is sought after.

later.

Actually the SC300 and Soarer come with the 2jzGTE but it's a 2.5Liter not 3.0 Liter

And in the SC300 form it can also come with a V8, which i've heard is pretty nice force inducted.
Along with the 1jz

As for my occupation...I'm also a college student, working for a mom & pop aftermarket shop here in Thatcher Az....Not a big fan of american cars, but I have to admit i'm learning quite a bit.

ok i dont know jack about the lettering of japanese engines anyone car to explain what the letters mean, i know the B is honda, and which supra is the mk4

The numbers and letters usually correspond to series, engine size, type of induction, weather it's FI or carbed, what country it came from....and crud like that.

yeh u guys get a hard run. there is no such thing as a 2.5 litre 2jz, whoever said there was. 2.5l = 1jz, 3l = 2jz. the soarer had a limited run with the 2jzge (non turbo 3l inline 6). i was slightly off the mark...

It does have a 2.5 liter, but it's not a 2jz engine. It's a 1jz, the same engine that's in the MK3 Supra turbo.

didnt the Mk3 supra (JZA70) also come with the 7M-GTE
