After attaining levels 40/40, I realize that I still have a long way to go. Not only as I have yet to do the Vettel challenge and FGT races, but as a car buyer.

If only they made the place smell like stale cigarette smoke, crap coffee, body odor and desperation... the simulation would be complete.

Who could have imagined that the virtual "used car dealership" could be as painful as their real life counterparts? I would rather do another thousand laps of Indy than this. Do I really need the collector trophy I wonder?

In the last two days I've gone from 300 to just over 600 cars. Next to my work computer, I've got my console set up to grind Indy with a rubber band and keyboard. After every 19 minutes or so (the time it takes the X2010 to do 6 races), I exit the racing and have a look around the lot to see what's come in.

Is it possible that I do not already own every Evo model ever made, much less every Evo in existence? And where is the Bentley 8 now that I have the money to buy it? It was there constantly when I could barely buy a Lupo.

This is what I see in my sleep now.

"Buy this car?"

"Do you want to use this car now?"

The paint items you acquire can be used in GT Auto to paint your car's body or wheels (you will have to pay the shop for the paint job).

I too have been working on my total cars. I have been gifting myself tickets and cycling through those to get the expensive cars I need. I used the rest of my cash to buy every car under 200,000. I am up to 870 cars, I keep track with gran turismo.net and the checklist the game has. I switch through 5 license tests but don't play them just so I can reset the used car dealership. So close to the trophy so many miatas, mx5s, roadsters, and eunos, skylines, evos, too many of those.

Just spent the last month going from about 250 cars to 1000 to get this stupid trophy done and out of the way. I bought a lot of go-karts and sub $20k cars. GT5 doesn't make it easy.... too many "are you sure" screens!

Now that I have the trophy I'm selling all these stupid econoboxes and just keeping what I want! Back down to about 430 cars. I think 300-350 is about right.

OMG, I cannot believe you are doing this grind in reverse. Completely insane. What kind of masochists are we?

FWIW, I am buying everything, no regard for price. I find that I have less to sort through after each full UCD cycle and with the rubber banding, I have plenty of Cr. Leave it rolling when I sleep.

I feel like Sisyphus. (You young'uns look him up in your internet machines and googles)

I think a better system for the UCD would be like the normal dealership but with standard cars and all brand new

I get your point. It really isn't that easy to find the rarer models. Regarding grinding, it's enough to do 5 races, when your exit, the UCD will have a full set of hopefully what you're looking after.

Thanks for this info. I thought it was six races. THink of all the time I could have saved.
About the rare cars, just got the VW Nardo Concept! So it's not all drudgery.

I don't have words stuck in my head, I have that tune you get when you buy a standard coming to be when I'm in silence, that noise will haunt me til the day I die.

Not only time my friend, but possibly rare cars, either. Best of luck to you!

I'll never understand people inflicting themselves such pain for a virtual trophy. A game is supposed to be entertaining, what you are describing seems more a chore than anything else.

If you ask me, trophies are nothing but a stupid ego and game lifespan enhancement, a mediocre and meaningless milestone in a gamer's life. Best of the story, all interest in those trophies will ineluctably fade away as soon as the next gen console hits the market.

Screw them.

I get your point....too many damn questions.....do you want to buy this car? you want this car? are you sure you want this car? Really Really sure??

Ok, now that you have agreed to buy it, do you want to use it? are you sure?

It's the same when you upgrade the performance mods.....do you want this part? do you want to install this part now?

No, I want to install it later on down the road....WTH??

To expand on that idea, I think that there should still be the rotating car list. However, make it so it changes every real life day, and the best part, have multiple used car dealerships. Have them offer cars from the same country or continent, have one or two for older vehicles, and maybe even one for ex race cars.

I also started collecting cars after almost winning everything exept some of the endurance races, my total is 994 now, with all premiums allready in my possession, just missing some of the more expensive standard cars :) keep up the good work !

I agree with you in one thing -> if you only play for trophies (or achievements or what the hell), then you miss all about videogames. However, I love to collect trophies while enjoying completing my games, it's cool to fuse both things.
As for the OP, bro, I'm with you. I'm having nightmares with Skylines taking over the world and Miatas all over the place...jesus...when I saw Transformers the other day I though Optimus Prime was going to transform into a Miata...this is not cool:eek:

I used to feel the same, but this game has given me major car lust and with it came the need to own them all.

Try it when you're being picky about the car color ;) I'm trying to get my entire collection of cars in white (and white from the factory, not with a paint job, when possible) so I find myself skipping cars in case there's a white version available.

Should be a UCD button that says 'buy all cars not owned'.

All this grinding I have more money than I can spend. Just bought my 11th coloured X2010 for 20M credits just to stop wasting money hitting the ceiling. I own pretty much all the +100,000 credit cars now so only about 300 cheapy cars to find.

the fastest way to refresh the UCD is to go to licences, enter the first one, dont start it, just select "next test" until you're at #6 (each test advances the game by one day - 6 cars per day), then exit... UCD is now refreshed

Actually to refresh UCD just go to any a-spec race, start, before the race countdown begins, exit .... repeat 5 times. Takes about 1 minute!

nice.... hadn't thought of that! :) I'm sitting on 1180 cars, haven't seen anything i don't own for about a week now :(

I have been trying to find the Stupid Saleen S7 for weeks now. When I didn't have the money, I would see it almost every ohter day. Now that I have the money for it, I can't find it anywhere. I'm ready to give up trying to get it.

Actually #5 will do. Only 30 cars.
