There's a common misconception that Ronaldo is good at taking free kicks.
He is no Juninho. He tries to dip the ball from positioning at a dead straight angle towards the ball, which is really hard to master as Ronaldo showed twice in the space of a minute unless you are playing with a Jabulani.

Knuckle ball free kick is very hard to master and control trajectory, Ronaldo is about the only who strikes it the way it should be, he refuses to compromise his technique as I believe he thinks he invented it.
Nearly Everyone else side foots.
So he rarely scores them but when he does they are spectacular.

Well done Iceland! I feel slightly better as an Englishman.

Such a lame display of football from a team who openly assumes themselves as candidates at winning this Euro. Pathetic.

Bruno Alves could of done a better job.

Yeah, Bruno Alves is good at kicking. Just ask Harry Kane.

I googled that stat once. He needs something like 90 free kicks to get a goal.

I believe he was better when the balls were easier to swerve a few years ago. He can't get the insane dip and swerve on free kicks any more.

If that happens, I can expect at least one of two things:
  1. Russia to get at least one of the Ukrainian players to switch sides (or whatever is the closest thing in football to annexation).
  2. The match to be played behind closed doors.

Forget it. He has the mentality of a 6-year-old.

Which is a shame, really. If it wasn't for that, he would be an exceptional athlete.

Ronaldo is incredibly butthurt about the game.

Such a sore loser. Hreidarsson is right, he must have expected a truck load of goals and is annoyed that they didn't come.
So, who else will be pulling for an Iceland/Hungary qualifying combo? :D

What an odd comment though, he's acting although Portugal are a top team at the tournament. Exceptionally average as ever.

I often go to Iceland when I'm Hungary...

Loved the Icelandic spirit, their support and their attitude - Ronaldo's comments are utterly pathetic... let your football do the talking mate, because no-one wants to hear you talking out of your arse.

It doesn't matter what ambition they showed, they have the same amount of points as Portugal who have already blown the easiest group of the lot.

Actually, statistically* it is the hardest group of the lot...

* I mean my 'statistics' - if you add the FIFA rankings of all teams in each group, Group F gets the lowest score (believe it or not), implying the 'hardest group'...

Ronnie throwing his toys out of the pram again, I see... If I remember correctly, he had a golden chance to win the game, and he headed straight at the keeper.
