A bit gutted but not disheartened, they have been immense and have done Britain proud not just Wales, mark my words this is just the start, see you at the World Cup!

They've caught the imagination, hopefully we can learn a thing or two before playing them in qualifying for the World Cup.

Even ignoring Moanaldo's despicable attitude towards the game, Portugal never deserved to be finalists.

That's a purely despondent post. Not that it is surprising, but I couldn't avoid noticing.

One should be magnanimous in victory, and gracious in defeat.

Well done Wales, what you achieved is something to be proud of, and will go to the history books.

Well done Portugal, with all your weaknesses and the inner fears the belief, the will and the wanting was always there.

Whatever the final result this will also go to the history books, first time we reach a final in a away tournament.

Time to burn those accursed away kits.

Hate seeing Uk teams go down to Portugal but this could easily be a prelude to Wales moving up onto the world stage in 2018. They mustn't let this blip dent their momentum and try to shake up the qualifiers once more.

Cymraeg pride in the national team remains at an all time high. Revel in it. 👍

Hate the kit. Get rid of it.

My copypasta:

That's that. We're out. We reached the semis of the European Championships at a tournament where we were expected to 'make up the numbers' (see: Guardian). But we've done much more than that.

At a time when Wales is divided on politics and economics and culture, the football team has brought us all together more than anything in my 25 years on this planet. People on the borders, people I've known who have never been interested in football, they have become invigorated and excited by this.

I have nothing but pride for every single member of this team. Players, coaches, physios, everyone. I feel so proud to be Welsh and you, all Gogs, all Southerners, all Deesiders, be proud.

Expat. Away from home. The small community here, I am so thrilled to know them. All of them. The photos? It's gas craic. Good fun. I revel in having fun and being proud of Wales.

Cymu Am Byth.

Great game, finally. And I thought Portugal without Pepe was doomed. Nice that I was wrong.

2 more records for Ronaldo (I think is the 5th already in this Euro).

Even ignoring Moanaldo's despicable attitude towards the game, Portugal never deserved to be finalists.
Then who did? The Wales team that were clearly not good enough today? The self-destructive Belgians? The underperforming Croats? The Polish who cannot avoid the lottery of penalty kicks? Hungary?
They won by a set piece.
Many football matches are decided by set pieces. What's your point? Portugal were clearly the better team today.

I quote you again because of your ridiculous statement. Yet we're in the final.

Yes we had plenty of luck getting where we are, but tell me one team that was clearly superior to us. We had a despicable attitude towards our group, but once again no one was superior to us. We had our luck, but no one actually beat us fair and square, and with that we deserve to be in the final.

At last we had a good game, we won, no contest, Wales didn't threat that much, we were alawys much closer to the 3-0 than the 2-1.

We won, we deserve it (as we say in Portugal: there'sno champion without luck), we'll fight for the win. End of story.

Don't bother, most of the people here think that, for a team to deserve to be finalist, it has to win every game for atleast 4-0.
Most have no clue about the tactical aspect of the game, and think that, to deserve a win, you need to have 100% ball possession, 50 shots, etc.

Funny thing is, everyone here moans about Ronaldo moaning... How ironic.

No doubt about that, I was getting a sense of deja-vu this evening... passes going astray, lack of "the end product", it really did remind me of watching England. Ramsey was a huge miss for Wales, but in regards to Portugal... if I was a betting man, I wouldn't look on them too favourably in the final. It's odd, because they do seem to lack something, that je ne sais quoi... yet they're one step away from the trophy, without putting their stamp on the tournament (not withstanding the game against Hungary).

As for Ronnie, I didn't see him throwing his toys out of the pram this time... the only occasion where he did seem a bit aggrieved was when he got dragged down in the box because Collins had him in a headlock!

RTE said that as Wales were the nominated away team they wore away kits, but Portugal's red was considered too dark so they also wore away kits.

A similar situation happened in the last World Cup when Holland played Spain, both in away kits.

Yep that's because it's an actual FIFA rule. Each team must have one nominated dark kit and one nominated light kit, dark can not play dark and light can't play light. Home kit vs Home kit and Away vs Away is completely fine though if that's how it has to be.

Won't think Portugal will succeed to beat host France, or world champions Germany. You never know. They MIGHT get the cup after the 2004 loss but I am not looking for Portugal to beat either of these two.

2 of France/Germany/Italy probably deserved to be in the final, unfortunately for them they are all in the same side of the draw.

I agree, but again they were on the same side. And again no team was superior to Portugal in it's side, as hard as it is to admit

Generally is a match is decided on a set piece, there isn't a clearly better team.

There wasn't today either, Ronaldo got a fantastic header. Wales are instantly playing higher up the pitch, get caught with all the space and are suddenly 2-0 down.

I believe that Portugal had the edge tonight, but to say they were clearly better is unfair on Wales.

Anyway, that match was a bore, can't wait until tomorrow's game, should hopefully be a bit more open.

Tonight's game was a big punch in the gut to those who have such an arrogant attitude towards the Portuguese team. Moaning about moaners, completely disgraceful in defeat, and hipocrecy all around.

I'm not Portuguese, but jeez this forum is full of haters (and I hate that word!).. Shame really.

GREAT JOB PORTUGAL! I hope the best team win in the final and lots of mouths get shut again! :gtpflag:

Portugal were the better team on the night. Can't complain about that. For all their unattractive performances, including no 90 minute win until last night, they haven't lost a game yet. You have to give them that; they grind out a result.

I just wonder how different it might have been had Ramsey played.

Concerning the draws of Portugal and the lack of wins withing 90m, it's not like Portugal was playing on the defense.

We didn't have Pepe (arguably the best reason why Portugal didn't go home sooner) or William Carvalho too. :)

It's disappointing that a post like this is getting likes, despite only maliciously getting in people's faces (with terrible spelling here and there) about a whiny bitch who definitely doesn't act graciously in defeat (or draw) making it to the final after not having to meet any of the tournament's top-level teams at any point.

- Croatia was 1st in the group of the current Euro champion (Spain).
- Belgium and Wales would probably be a pain in the ass for any team on the other side. Or are you implying that they would be a piece of cake?
- Portugal is, at this point, one of top-level. Yeah, we're not an "iceland" anymore.

So big game tonight, maybe the biggest of the tournament, Germany forced into making changes because of suspensions and injuries, France unchanged from the Iceland win...

Portugal played well against Wales and deserved the win, but let's not lavish too much praise on a Portugal side who, up until last night, have woefully underperformed and scraped through to the semis by the skin of their teeth... and not forgetting that they also played one of the worst games of football that I have ever had the misfortune to witness - harsh words indeed considering I watch Scottish league football on a regular basis. Portugal are, in my opinion at least, possibly the least deserving finalists in a major European tournament since Jemini took part in the Eurovision Song Contest...
