Yilmaz jumping like a salmon trying to get up a stream was hilarious. Struggleball so far and a lot of nervous players.

Turkey 0-3 Italy.

Very comfortable night for the Italians in Rome in a match that they dominated, They couldn't break Turkey down in the first half but the break-through from from a Merih Demiral own goal early in the second half (first goal of Euro 2020 was an own goal) and then Immobile and Insigne with some great strikes, Italy had 24 shots on goal, Turkey were many peoples dark horses for the tournament but were disappointing and did next to nothing.

Also tournament got off to a great start with Andrea Bocelli's stunning rendition of Nessan Dorma and the Italian side sang their national anthem with incredible passion.

Denmark-Finland suspended.

Christian Erikson collapsed whilst chasing the ball and slumped to the ground, likely a heart attack. They were performing CPR on him on the pitch and the Denmark players formed a shield around him and were in tears, his wife was there also.

Absolutely horrible scenes and really hope he pulls through. :(:(:(

This doesn't look good, he just went down as the throw in was taken, never closed his eyes. Looks very bad indeed.

That was quite upsetting to watch. My heart's still racing.

Really hope he gets through.

I've just seen that annoucement, so glad that they've stabilised him. It looked like it might have been a worst case scenario for a while.

Full credit to all the medical team involved for their incredible work there.

And also to Eriksen's team-mates for that human shield that they formed around him, that was clearly very distressing for them and a few of them were distraught and in tears, I have a lot of respect for them for doing that.

Danish Football Union tweeted saying that Eriksen is in hospital and stable.

The game WILL resume at 8.30pm, both sets of players, the officials and fans are still in the stadium and the fans are chanting Eriksen's name.

Belgium-Russia still set to kick-off at 8pm.

Edit: Tree'd.

Wow. I'm quite surprised that the game will go ahead, but massive credit to the players and officials for doing this - the fans deserve it, and thanks to the amazing job of the medical team, the officials and the players, it does at least look like the worst outcome has been avoided.

The Danish players requested for the game to resume now they know that he is Okay.

Game will re-start at 7.30 not 8.30 like I said, so will resume in around 15 mins.

Don't know what BBC are going to do, they were showing the game but went off not long after the incident.

Edit Game will be shown on BBC One from 7.25!

No sign of it on BBC One in Scotland, but it is on the Red Button (Freeview 601) as well.

The Danish squad spoke to Christian and he asked them to play the game.

Football back on BBC One now!

Players will play last 5 mins of first half, then have a five minute break for half time and then play second half.

Belgium v Russia kicks off at 8pm on ITV

Goal for Finland...

... but it only highlights how unusual this situation is. The goalscorer naturally celebrated (and let's face it, Finland scoring in the Finals of the Euros is a huge personal achievement for the player) but he quickly changed his behaviour and clearly didn't 'celebrate' beyond his initial reaction. Sadly, it looked like someone actually threw a missile at him too, which is frankly disgusting and utterly disrespectful, esp. under the circumstances. Would that fan rather the players just went home?

:ouch: Damn that has made it outside the Finnish borders.

Of course it's a magnificent thing that Finland won the match but the main thing is that Eriksen is alive. When they kept resuscitating him even after defibrillating him I had a very grave feeling that at some point very soon they'll just pull a sheet over him. But not today. Even more amazing is that, according to some sources, the Danish team captain began the CPR himself until the medical personnel could get to the scene.

Wales 1-1 Switzerland
Denmark 0-1 Finland
Belgium 3-0 Russia

Wales did pretty well in the first game of the day but Switzerland were largely the better team and perhaps should have won (it only happened today but because of todays events since it feels like this game happened ages ago!) Wales started well but then the Swiss shifted through the gears a bit and caused Wales some problems, Swiss goal from Breel Embolo from a corner and he was their player, Kieffer Moore gave Wales the equaliser around 15 mins from time during their best spell of the game, Swiss had a winner rightly ruled out for offside via VAR and it finished 1-1. Danny Ward in the Wales goal made some great saves.

Joel Pohjanpalo gave Finland their first goal at a major tournament in the delayed second half, which in turn gave them their first win at a major tournament, Hojbjerg had a penalty saved by Hradecky who had an excellent game in the Finnish goal.

Comfortable night for Belgium, Russia gave away two bad goals in the first half to Lukaku and Meunier, Lukaku dedicated his first to his Inter team-mate Eriksen, Belgium took their foot off the gas a bit in the second half but Lukaku got his second in the 89th minute, fairly similar game to last night but Russia had some decent changes and tried to play Football.

No updates on Eriksen, just what we know and that's he is stable and having treatment in hospital, worth pointing out that the ref Anthony Taylor was superb in the match and called the medics on almost immediately, and credit to Denmark's Simon Kjaer who stopped Eriksen from swallowing his tongue, put him in position for CPR and comforted his wife when she was pitchside.

João Cancelo is out of the Euro, due to testing positive for COVID. The rest of the team tested negative, Cancelo will be replaced by Diogo Dalot, who just took part of the Euro U21. Hopefuly Cancelo was an isolated case.
