Rollazn's just reminded me that the gorgeous 300ZX was similar to it's little brother, the 350Z, in the way that it never looked good with an aftermarket bodykit.

Not true, Im sure there are bodykits that look great on both car that you havent seen. ;)

I think I have seen quite a few bodykits for both cars, but please, show me a good one...

Ha! You're having a laugh, aren't you, Cano!?

nop. I REALLY like the Aero8. yeah, the headlamps are a little weird, but meh, its still good lookin'
as for the 300zx, it looks WAY better than the pos that is the 350z. and you dont have to kit one, you just have to eliminate the black horizontal stripe in the front, paint it body color, and that is all. it looks effing great. hell, you dont even have to change wheels! they look fabulous!

Why do you think that just because you dont like the 350z that it is a POS. Please explain to me Cano. The OEM wheel on the 300zx does not look fabulous but it will due. I dont get whats so fabulous about it? Care to explain?

Victor Vance

the car that got virgil exner fired from Chrysler because of its sheeer uglyness. Ironically, one of these was Hot Rod Magazines Hot Rod of the Year for 2000, thanks to a supercharged 426 HEMI with EFI and nitrous. odd.

as for the 350Z, ok, it MAY not be a pos, but it looks like one. and the stock wheels in the 300ZX look fabulous to me (as the 350Z looks as POS) for the simple reason of personal opinion, I dont need to explain a thing about that.

I know we all have differnet opinion but calling a car a P.O.S just because you dislike it, is well quite harsh. Clearly we have different opinion, but your right, you dont need to explain anything because we all are different.

Anyways those pictures above are indeed unattractive. :)

The Dodge Diplomat. Rides (and handles) like a land yaht, and although it's not particularly ugly, it's sheer blandness.

The loyal owner shelled out $1500 to fix it to 'new'
diplo4.jpg

It's really easy to mistake its front end from an older Town Car, isn't it?

Cano

Thanks for reminding us brits of some of our uglies

But..... the RR Camargue, the Triumphs and maybe even the Rover P6 (not sure about this one) were designed by Italians!!! - Pininfarina and Micholotti - so don't blame us!

Unfortunatly the Daimler is 100% British, Its the 'Daimler' that is owned by Jaguar - not the 'Daimler'-Benz that i think you are refering to.

Let me argue a case for the Fiat Multipla and the Morgan Aero 8.
Yes, both are ugly as sin, but both have so much character, you'd forgive them almost anything.
It's pretty much the same with the-

Citroen Saxo and Berlingo

Original Mini

Daihatsu Sirion

Nissan Cube

Renault Twingo

Rover Vitesse

VW Beetle (Original, the new Beetle has all the character of a brick wall)

Ford Thunderbird, Scorpio, Mondeo ST24, Falcon

Holden Monaro

No Vauxhalls!

interesting thread... hmm... y'all left out some of my personal faves though!

Chevrolet SSR:
all4.jpg

And don't say somthign about seeing it in person etc cuz I saw and sat in one at the car show back a yr or so ago, right b4 it came out.

Thats the only pic I'm gonna post. Anyway, also the last Camaro before it was killed. The headlights and bumpy hood were too much of an eyesore to me. I like the older ones better, like the Z28 in GT3. I don't like the 300ZX either, give me an older 240SX any day!

The opinions in this post are mine and not yours, if you have a problem with them, that's your problem. Also, all opinions are based solely on looks, nothing more.

Uhm, no, in fact the SSR Concept is the most beuatiful version of the SSR.

When they moved the fuel door, added a tonneau, eliminated the split down the middle (which was nice), took off the chrome and put on standard reverse lamps, and move the mirrors to a more 'traditional' location, the SSR lost its flava 👎

I didn't mean a specific version, I just meant in general... the whole SSR concept/production/etc thing.. whatver you wanna call it..

Whatever... either way I'll never forgive GM for using the GMT360 platform (you guys smoking crack!?) instead of say the Sigma rear-drive platform. Even with 300hp to boot it still can hardly steam a Prowler and it's handling isn't unlike what you'd find in a TrailBlazer/Envoy/9-6/Bravada/Ascender/H3/Rainier.

Morgan Aero8- I love this car. Its quirky, its odd, and I LOVE IT

Enzo- love it. I love group C/racecar/F1 styling on mid engined cars

Gallardo-REALLY love it. Absolutely gorgeous machine, even from the back

Fiat multipla-liked it more before

Nissan Cube-love it

Chevy SSR- I saw one in person and it changed my whole perspective on it. I love it

RR Phantom-its growing on me

Lamborghini Diablo-whoever hates this is absolutely nuts

Aston Martin Lagonda- beautful and elegant

Aston MArtin Zagato- brutally beautiful

And now, for what I hate most. A most overrated and in my opinion poorly designed blobby, bland, and utterly insipid dog of a supercar..the Ferrari 360 modena. I hate it. I dont see why its so popular and I really miss the gorgeous 355 a lot. Of all the cars I want to see rusting away in a scrapyard, the modena is the winner.
360modena-a.jpg

Now. why do I hate it? Well let me give a short personal review of its design. Start with the front. That squared off wraparound bumper is too large, too plain. Looks from some angles to have "puffy cheeks" where the styling line and cutlines parallel. The front air passager under the car leaves the car with that "kicked in the chin" look. The front headlights are a farce, poorly executed squinty tiny lights set in funky angles under a large cover that seems disproportional to the front. The hood is too flat, with no real passion or excitement invoked anywhere on the front. Moving to the side, it gets really bad. the whole profile tried to emulate I guess the 250 Lm, because it has that same hunchbacked round air intake look that got the Lambo Canto killed off. Tthe whole treatment of the front fenders is extremely sloppy, with lines and curves and angles forming a very unharmonious design that looks really bad. I know that Ferrari prides its designs on simplicity, but this design is NOT simplistic nor is it elegant. IT fails to look sleek because of the front, and hte sharp bodyline on the side looks really forced. The air intakes on the sides are bland and look like mere addons, not greatly integrated works of art as in previous Ferraris. Im also not a fan of that side window treatment. The shard edged ends of the 355 quarter windows was fitting, and intersected the bodyline in an elegant graceful way. This window treatment on the modena looks too Fordish, and by that I mean previous gen double-clench Taurus. Now moving to the rear. The curvature of the top portion is inelegant and just plain ugly. That big hump housing the rear brakelight is disgusting. Moving down, the lights are in oddly shaped housings, with hte outer ones overlapping hte inner in a rather ugly fashion. Another hting I dontl ike is how the pipes fit into that rear cutout of hte bumper. Completely bad taste IMO. Finally, the venturi tunnel integration isnt hte best Ive seen at all, and on htis car it just looksl ike someone hauled off and kicked this car right up its ass.
Well basically thats why I hate htis car. The overall shape is ok, but details wise, this car BLOWS>

I'm with you 100% on the Enzo and the Cube, but come of it, Inno. you're having a Turkish if you think half of those cars are beautiful! Each to his own though I guess.

Like I said earlier chaser_fan, It could be the character of the cars.

nope, I truly love those cars. I do htink they have character and interesting design. however I hate cvarsl ike Audi TT and Ferrari Modena that have huge fanbases and I love cars like Edonis and Enzo that a lot of peole hate, so my tastes are perhaps strange. It all just has to do with the details and character of the design.

I'll start with aformentioned Aston Martin Lagonda 1978-1989 (did it really survive that long?)

A monstrous 17 feet, 4550lbs and 200,000 dollars of pure hideousness, it had the scale and aesthetic beauty of a small aircraft carrier and probably had similar handling characteristics. Not only was it pig-ugly, with so much history and tradition that the name implies, it was a complete travesty and insult to the marque. Since the Lagonda, not until only recently, have Aston Martins begun to be beautiful cars once again.

I fail to see any redeeming feature of this cumbersome behemoth. Therefore, I have no hesitation of casting this beast into the bowels of this thread...

Rust in Peace - Aston Martin Lagonda

lagonda-3.jpg

Hehe. Never went into this thread before.

Just wanted to add a comment to that choise. The series 2-4 lagonda is imo probably the most attractive car ever built (except for the interior). :)

[edit] Saw the -71 Buick Riviera in the thread too. It also tops my list of awesome designs. Man, my taste in cars is really odd..

Maybe ya just really like an underdog  I agree on the TT though... idk why, it just kinda makes me go *ugh* heh.

I probably agree with half the cars listed in this thread.

I've never liked the Ferrari F50 & think saying some of the MGs are ugly is a bit harsh. Still I can't believe this car hasnt had its fair share (despite having some 'nice' technological innovations its damn ugly). The Austin Allegro!

And yeah I hate that Morgan, damn its ugly. Chevy SSR sucks too.
