UKGTP15 Interest?

I may have a (permanent) venue smack in the middle of the fair city of dreaming spires, Oxford, from early next year.

If we do the usual timings, how does the Easter Bank Holiday weekend sound? Friday April 6th to Monday April 9th 2012.

Local places to stay will be very straightforward: the YHA hostel a short walk away, or a really expensive hotel. If you lot actually manage to get your bloody act together and commit, you can block book the YHA and have a good night out in Oxford before crawling back to the Hostel.

Alternatively, if you have a campervan, then the carpark outside the venue will happily accomodate you.

The venue is free, a simple room about 50 x 30ft, enough room easily for 16 drivers/seats - which is an arbitrary maximum I'll set now for both practical and GT5 room considerations.

Organising this venue absolves me of any driving event organisation. :D And as Famine usually does a lot of that (even if he says he won't), I'm considering banning him from doing so totally because A) he should be busy with other things for six months, and B) it'll keep him out of the loop so he won't be able to practice sneakily.
 
I would quite enjoy turning up and being surprised for a change, but with the way we have to do things with GT5, we'll be needing to send/acquire all the cars for the races quite well in advance :D

If we're going to be "somewhere else" in a ludicrous car the following weekend, being a bit further south might be helpful for me, but I'll have to unload all my LAN gear on you before we set off - though that's on hold at the moment :D
 
This sounds like something that may interest me. I'll need to check about the date, but you can add my name to the list.
 
I'm gonna go ahead and ban myself from this until I've learned how to drive things properly. For one thing I want to cry of embarrassment, and for another I'm having horrible visions of receiving a screwdriver in the neck.

That and I'm not entirely sure of my early-next-year calendar, so I may not be able to turn up and distribute things with Sarah Jessica Parker on the cover in the first place.

Oxford sounds delightful though. I've always wanted to be on Morse.

Tom your 14 and your seriously asking this? Parents are these people who you love but until you live elsewhere get away from as often as possible.

Give it a shot, who knows GT5 may actually be a good guide. :sly: If not then you know to get the train next time. :lol:

In a previous event under-16s came (about 4 years ago iirc) their parents came along to say hi and to realise we aren't murderers.

Whilst no one would object to you coming, I think some may want to either speak to parents/guardians/ChuckNorris or for them to show up and say hi.

Yeah, I'm sure my uncle would love to come, he's a real GT5 fan as well. 👍
 
Okay, so the only other thing you need to know is to ignore VEXD, all the time, regardless.
 
I'd love to come to one of these, but I haven't told my dad that I'm a member here yet. :nervous: (He doesn't usually like me giving out email addresses and joining online forums.) But when I am 17-18, with more freedom I'll try and come along, if this is still going. See you guys in 4 years.

I'm not free at Easter next year (friends wedding!) so I'm going to have to miss the next one :guilty: Roll on 2013 :ouch:

I'd love to come over and get involved in one of these. It would probably be 2013 though, if you'd have me, as I'll be in the UK renovating a house that my tenants have destroyed and I'll be using my holiday allocation to do it - that's a precious commodity these days.

If that changes and you're still looking for people nearer the time, I could still be up for it. :D
 
I'll miss this once by a few months. I'll be out of the UK in Feb until 2013. If there's one arranged for then I'll be sure to be drunk.
 
Interested, but would have to see how things are closer to the time as I won't have my car on the road 'til (a planned date of) March/April!

That sucks. :( Just wondering how do we all connect online? Is it via LAN because presumably the building won't have Wi-Fi?
 
All the consoles connect to the hub - we used lots of Cat6 last time, simply because I have lots of Cat6 - and the hub connects to the internets.

Should I rearrange my holiday to coincide with the gathering or would it just be a pain in the hind having me around? I could work things out to be around at the time if it's not too highbrow for me.

I'd come just to be a spectator to be honest. I'm one of those that was the guide master for a friend/brother when playing Zelda or the like. Watching is good because it means hands are free for other things.
