Incredible, how Hamster could come back to normality from that crash a testament to his determination. Long may he grace this earth.

I also think the boys from Top Gear should be presant at all roadworks in the UK today, because they certainly got the job done in a FRACTION of the time!

It didn't look that bad. If you didn't know the speed, you'd think it wasn't that fast.

Glad he pulled through. Great advert for Arai helmets :)

Seeing all the pictures and everything just doesn't compare to seeing the crash in motion.

Overall a good episode, I loved the Jag XK-R, and so did Jeremy if you couldn't tell.

Yeah, I agree with that.

Episode was pretty good. I say the roadworks feature isn't the best they've done, but at least they proved it can be done. :D

Still prefer the Aston... Sounds like a Spitfire...

That crash was something else though. Only in real-time can you appreciate how suddenly everything went the way of the pear. Astonishing that he lived through a crash that speed in an open top car whilst upside-down, never mind is back at work 4 months later.

I loved this episode, the Aston Vs. Jag thing was interesting but at the end of the day, I'd take the Aston over the Jag every time. The sound alone would be enough to swing it for me, it can be heard from 2 miles away and the sound is simple awesome. I'd love to hear one for real. :D

I can't decide between the Aston and the Jag.... you saw the Jag would not get off the heels of the Aston, and there is the sound of the Aston that is teh sex, but something inside doesn't let me decide that I'd take the Aston. Thankfully they showed Stig in a silver XKR, and it was just stunning...

Tough decision to make.

Probably the worst crash I've seen.

Good show last night, loved Hammonds entrance :D

Some bad un's there too.

The road works bit had me in stitches.

I thought it was a fairly weak episode to start the new season off with.

• Jag XKR vs. AMV8 👍 but could have been better.

• Road resurfacing 👎 👎 - as dull as road works.

• Jamie Oliver 👎 - had him on before, had nothing new to say.

• Hammond's crash 👍 - great footage. He did well to hold the slide at that speed, would have been much worse had his reactions been any slower.

Totally agree with you there... it was great to see the show back on air, and even better to see Richard Hammond back too... but seriously, what was the road resurfacing schtick all about? As the 'main feature' of the show, it really wasn't up to their usual standard - albeit funny for the most part. I wonder if Clarkson will get into trouble for his Jade Goody comment, which I have to say is one of the funniest things I've heard on TV for a long time!

I think the problem with the Road surfacing was that they were genuinely in a rush and there was no real down time. Everything was at 100mph which left it a tad overwhelming at times.

I thought the roadworks skit was fine and dandy, think of it as similar to the radio one they did last season. Doing something else away kinda from cars, but with the humour of the Top Gear boys.

Just thought you'd like here something pathetic.....

The owner of the dragster has said that Hamster was partly responsible for the accident (something about not listening to the briefing properly).

I was under the assumption the owner was responsible for the crash, by failing to check the condition of the tires after every run.

Rrright, so just what did Hammond not listen to that would have prevented the front tyre from exploding so suddenly. I think the owner should just save face and not comment on the situation, not start trying to lay the blame on other people. It was an accident, **** happens, sometimes you can be blaming someone just for the sake of blaming someone. No one is infalliable, you have to set a standard, if everyone is operating upto that standard and sometihng still goes wrong you don't have to find a scapegoat. Just call it an accident. Why this is never acceptable these days is beyond me.

Can't blame himself can he? He's got a reputation to keep up.

*Edit - Ah, I've just worked out the bit that Hamster missed.

"In the event of a blowout at 300mph, don't crash the car."

How far behind are we?

The episode where they took the road trip over the Millau Bridge in the Ford GT, Pagani Zonda and Ferrari F430...

So how many episodes, even seasons, are we behind?

By the looks of it that was episode 3 of season 7. In the UK we are now starting season 9.

There were 6 episodes in season 7 followed by a Winter Olympics episode, 8 episodes in season 8 and 1 episode so far from season 9.

So at about 12 episodes you're a little way behind yeah. Still, that's a lot of TopGear for you to look forward to :D

...From what I was able to watch on the Internets this morning, it was a very enjoyable episode. I loved the Jaguar vs Aston clip, and I'd have to say that I for the most part agree with Clarkson. I gotta love the XKR's exhaust, "Like Tom Jones gargling with a NASCAR."

Episode 3...That would make sense since this 'New' season started 3 weeks ago. Bring on season 7 and 8!
