When you watch TopGear you tend to see the same planes in the background week in week out so I don't think it's particularly busy.

But the debate has been going on a while anyway now, I was even under the impression that Top Gear no longer had permission to use the site.

correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't there supposed to be a feature of Hammond driving an '04-spec Renault F1 car in series 9?

Well Red Nose Day is on Friday so it might be on then, then again it could be on Sunday on it's normal time. I don't know I'm afraid, I am trying to use the Beebs site but it's slow.
 
The Red Nose Day special was filmed either friday or the previous friday and it's on BBC2 this Friday at 10pm :) IIRC
 
The Stig speaks?!

If that really was the Stig I was expecting him to sound a little Godlier with his voice echoing and such.....

On a more serious note though, he sounds like Damon Hill. Anyone else agree?
 
I agree, it sounded like I'd expect Hammond to sound with a crash helmet on. Next to the woman he's about the same height as Hammond was as well. They're trying to pull a fast one :lol:.

Haha, now that you point it out, that sounds just like Hammond. Hehe, Hammond dressing up as the Stig and pulling a fast one on the host.
 
If you guys wanna know who the Stig is, I have a picture of him:



This sunglasses-sporting fellow served as the secondary driver in Jeremy Clarkson's "Hot Metal" DVD. Whenever Clarkson was racing against another car in a one-on-one battle, this guy was behind the wheel of the other car -- the same role that the Stig often finds himself in on Top Gear. He also never spoke, never took off his sunglasses, hardly changed facial expression, received little camera time, and wasn't listed in the credits.
 
I remember The Stig being outted somewhere around here on GTP. There was a newspaper article to back it up. Mind you, with the credibility of UK news, who knows.

But his name is around here somewhere. Ex-race driver. Raced F1 for a very short while, but was crap I think. Old guy.

You're probably thinking of Black Stig, who revealed himself to be Perry McCarthy in his book, "Flat Out, Flat Broke."

White Stig has yet to be revealed.

None of that makes him the Stig. Clarkson has used additional drivers in a few of his DVD's.

I was watching an old episode of TopGear the other week where it had Clarkson in a Mitsi Evo chasing a known racing driver in a Lambo Murc. The Lambo driver was wearing the same watch as The Stig does. I can't remember who the driver was though :rolleyes:

I think the Stig is whichever professional driver is available at the time of filming.

I enjoyed when Clarkson pulled the plug on so many stuff, even they did really well with the effects for Super grass. However I am enjoying the bit now, when Top Gear are doing there own band, mainly the bit where Clarkson drops his drum sticks.

There are problems with the Dunsfold track becasue the nearby residents are complaining about the noise. As far as I know, they need to find a new home.

I was going to bring that up the other day, but forgot to do so. The American Auto Blogs went aflutter for a few moments, but then it died down a bit. I can't see the BBC completely removing what I presume to be one of their most popular programs ever, be it in the UK or not. Interesting, but maybe Clarkson has finally had enough with the producers. I mean, the show wouldn't be the same without him, but I could see the BBC happily replacing him with some other car-crazy Briton. Maybe Tiff comes back?

That Dutch video seems a little odd. It certainly seemed like Hammond in the suit. He seemed a lot larger when he was walking across the track earlier in the clip. Hmmm...

...Either way, I need to honor my heritage and learn to speak Dutch. Ich kann sprechen sie Deutsch, aber nict sie Holländische. Tisk tisk...

I think Clarkson was right to pull the plug :)
All the other comments on modern music were also very funny :)

And i laughed when Clarkson said he was going to (I believe he said) Graspop with a helicopter, to land during the performance of a certain band (can't recall the name).

Well that is certainly good news, isn't it? Yes yes, they may be focusing more on American cars, and we may have an American presenter, but it doesn't dilute the fact that we finially have Top Gear on in the US...

...I'm hoping they strike a deal with Discovery or TLC, as they are the only channels that would really be able to carry it. If they can stick Top Gear on after American Chopper or Overhaulin' on the "Turbo" block here in the US, you can almost guarantee it to be successful.
 
I wish they’d stream it online, like a lot of the OTA broadcast networks are doing right now.
 
I hope they're just as hard on the american cars as they always have been with everything.

It would be utterly depressing to watch them butter up something like the new Chrysler Sebring as if it was an Aston Martin...but I could see the american parties involved forcing them to do so.

This one appears to have slipped under the radar, it would appear that the Malaysian parliament are a bit upset with him.

Jeremy Clarkson thinks Perodua Kelisa sounds like a disease
Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson has come under attack in the Malaysian parliament for labelling one of the country's cars the worst in the world.

The BBC presenter has been filmed attacking the Perodua Kelisa with a sledgehammer before blowing it up.

But minister Abdul Raman Suliman defended the nation's car industry, saying Mr Clarkson was like a football commentator who cannot play football.

Perodua had not received a single complaint from UK owners, he told MPs.

He added that the comments were made merely to boost sales of the Top Gear magazine.

'Soulless'

Mr Clarkson has voiced his frustrations with the small three-cylinder model in both magazine articles and on film.

In one article, he said its name was like a disease and suggested it was built in jungles by people who wear leaves for shoes.

And in a DVD car review, he described it as "unimaginative junk, with no soul, no flair and no passion".

He then smashed it, hung it from a crane with a one-tonne weight attached, before blowing it up.

Perodua is Malaysia's second national carmaker and began producing small compact models in 1995.

Nope my retinas have been offended by more than one of these pestilent little tin cans, so the only thing I can think is that Perodua have put gaffer tape all over the letter box. If the postman can't deliver it then they can't receive it.

I mean just look at the thing...

The full source above is well worth a read, particulary with gems like this "engine performance is lively (0-60mph in 14.8 seconds)".


And it gets even better, a Kelsia owner who was unhappy with his car was sued by Perodu and forced to take down the web-site.

Associated Press via Yahoo News reports that the Malaysian Appeals Court upheld a High Court order against Richard Fong Khee Choong to take down a personal website he set up in October 2002 about his Perodua Kelisa.

Perodua sued Richard Fong for defamation and the court ordered Fong to shut down the website pending resolution of the defamation suit.

Does this mean we can’t complain about our cars anymore without having to fear lawsuits from the car manufacturers? This is outrageous. It makes me wonder, I could be next just in case any car manufacturer with deep pockets decides it doesn’t like my site. What constitutes defamation in this context?
