Drove the VW GTI RM in a seasonal in cocpit view.

Looked great, but the sound was what really got my attention. Using a powerful 7.1 home theater.. I cranked it up to about -12db and this room transformed into the inside of a high strung FF racecar. I was using gated shifter and clutch too, sitting close to a 52'' screen in a racing cockpit which helps, but the whole thing felt and sounded great.

Force feedback, physics/ tire model, sound, GFX- whatever they changed, I'm liking this update.

That's how i do it. sound settings in options set to small theater, 5.1 system cranked up, older HD 64"projection (HUGE but not as clean as a modern flat tv) g27 with flipped pedals using the clutch as well. Feels and sounds great. I was drifting last night and somebody came in WAY hot behind me and slid past me out of control and the sounds of his tires squealing as he got really close and then past me right into a wall was nuts and the sound of him bashing the wall as i passed was great too. Sounds are really improved with 2.06

On another note this thread kinda sucks since the guy that started it is banned and cannot update the first post. Moderators out there what can we do about this?

7.1/5.1 user myself and I agree with you guys completely. Sometimes it feels as if im in a real car and the replays sounds are amazing.

I'm also using a £4k 5.1 sound system.
Do me a favour you guys with the surround, go buy the stock Merc SLR McLaren (19"wheel) and only make an oil change and add suspension and stuff but no tuning parts that will increase BHP and turn up your systems to around -20dB, and just listen to that noise :D
Sorry I can't describe it in words!!!

Will do!

If you choose standard model in photo mode. You can't take a picture of car closely

Sound seems to be a mixed bag, overall improvements in the Levels and Mix, but lots of people boobooing abt swapped samples.

Physics seem to be unanimously improved (weight transfer, non ABS lock threshold) save for some complaints about FFundersteer, then again Easier to control isnt 'more realistic', people tend not to enjoy changes that give them a handicap.

Was there a PP- and HP-downgrade for the premium Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX RM '05 in the 2.06 patch or earlier or is it just me?
Because my one is fully tuned, broken in, has max. downforce and is oiled but it has only 387 KW and 590 PP.
Many people on mygt.net say it has 593 PP and 393 KW max. ... O_o

Edit:
Forget that post. :D I know now why: I did the RM at around 150 km not at 0 Km.
So i had to drive up to 450 Km to break the car in completly, 300 km from the point where i did the RM.
It had nothing to do with a patch/update. Sorry my fault.

STOP IT!

I miss those tracks

We all do, and that's why I still play Gran Turismo 4 in 2012. That's when the disc obviously wants to work for me of course.

EDIT: To end all arguments on whether the SL having only the top right light on is damage or not, it is not damage because that's a fog light. It's a legal MOT requirement that a car is fitted with a rear fog light to the right as the bare minimum. Whether the car manufacturer wants to have fog lights on both sides of the car and even at the front is up to them, but not a legal MOT requirement. To back up my point, take a look of this picture of a 2001 Ford Ka:

As you can see, the left tail light doesn't exactly match the tail light on the right because the right one has a fog light in the reverse light's place to the right hand side of the car. If the car wasn't fitted with this, it wouldn't even be street legal.

Why can't they add weather and time in split screen -___- instead of messing with volume levels in cars I think the split screen weather and time is important, they should also try to fix black screen from happening all the time

It's for the same reason that they couldn't add much smoke in split screen gameplay. If they did, then the game would run much too slowly and even crash.

I have a 2.1 Sony micro theatre, and the SLR sounds sublime. Using small theatre option and virtual surround in the game options. The SLS sounds sweet too.

Unannounced fix: The problem that you couldn't move "up" in the menu-screen of Free Practice Mode for choosing the track when you were at the left-most track in e.g. your own tracks is no longer there.

Not correct, there is no legal MOT requirement for fog lights, or any other lights for that matter on a road going car if that car is for daylight use only.
If any lights are fitted then they must work (apart from reverse lights which are not tested so therefore can not fail).

Set it to large theater last couple days.. Set Menu BGM to 120, Menu sound fx to 120, Race sound fx 40, replay sound fx 35, all to keep menu BGM loud enough.

I cranked Yamaha amp to -4db.. Holy crap it gets loud with racing exhaust, and REALLY loud at beginning or replay, but it sounds great now.

Sometime last year I set it back to small theater because things weren't sounding quite good enough for me to want to crank volume- After 2.06 I'm turning it up as much as I can stand it and GT5 never sounded better.

Oh, and force feedback on the G25 feels much better than last patch. Less dampened which I like, but more precise and stronger. Also feels ''spring-ier'', but in a good way. I set it at 7, no pwer steering.

The brake lights are on the bottom of the cluster. So it wouldn't matter if the brake lights were on or not

Give it up. Seriously.

GT5 doesn't have light damage. It never had light damage. It likely never will have light damage. The car you keep saying has light damage has been exactly like that since GT4, as is the Premium version of the R230 SL-class that they modeled for GT5:P. I don't care what you think you see in your friend's pictures, because what you are arguing simply isn't the case.

This.

Now, back on topic, sound seems to use much more the LFE channel, with deeper engine sounds and more "dramatic" crashes. I either use my 2.1 system or headphones when playing, and sound has improved on both, although the phones lose some ambiance.

Can anyone confirm this or is it related to the large/small theatre options?

Speaking of that argument, I've got a video prepared that perhaps could solve this.

Edit: Here it is

Because RACECAR , now stop arguing.
HI RACECAR!

I am doing a pratice race in a Camero RM, which does sound better. I see the HANS device is now on my driver. It was not there before the update to my knowledge. You only saw the HANS device on your avatar, but not during races.

I took out the VW Golf IV RM for a spin and the start up was different that it was before 2.06 and it had much more of a grunt to it. It sounds like at at idle its has a set of lumpy camshafts on it.

Only problem i got with 2.06 is the engine sounds when your near other cars , the fact it somtimes totaly drownds out your car is ridiculous. which i believe this has been mentioned before sorry

I've seen lots of complaints about this, but don't have the problem myself. What I do notice is that engine noise gets faded softer when you have tyre squeal.

I wonder exactly which sound settings are bugged to cause this, since it's not happening to everyone?

I hate that problem. It's stopped me playing the game.

Every time I go past an AI car the sound of my engine stops.

Then there is silence for a couple of seconds and then it comes back and I can hear my engine again.

Sound is through my TV and is set to 2 channel PCM. Volume in game is 90.

What are your dynamic range settings?

Anything other than "Large Theatre" makes use of dynamic range compression, which will reduce the overall volume when louder sounds are present. That means the quieter sounds are no longer audible at all, especially on poorer hardware.

I haven't noticed any real issues with this unless I'm running stock exhausts against cars with modified exhausts. I use the "Small Theatre" setting.

I don't know what it's called, but I do know it's whatever the default setting is.

Edit. default is Living Room. I changed this to Small Theatre and it fixed the problem!
