Seeing how everyone (pretty much 90%) chooses the "meta" cars, what is your most underrated car for sport mode races? Or at least, the one you like to drive the most?

Personally, I never pick the fastest one and always search for hidden treasures. If I want to race with the same cars over and over, I'll pick the Brand Races (Dont know the english word for it, sorry)

So, my favorites (atm) are:

Gr. 3
- Lexus RC F GT3 prototype (Emil Frey Racing) '16 - a joy to drive and very competitive IMO
- BMW Z4 - the sound alone makes it for me :)

Gr.4
- Lamborghini Huracán - the tires hold long enough to overtake every megane scrub in the last 2-3 rounds :)
- Mercedes SLS AMG - The GT in Gr.3 is pretty common, but I rarely see this one in Gr.4! Its a joy o drive.

I also love the Jags and McLarens, but they just can't really keep up. At least for me with a controller..
So, what are your go-to underrated Cars? And recommendations? :)

I love the WRX GT3 - it handles well, has a lovely engine sound and a big windscreen so easier to drive using cockpit view.

I tried it before the balance patch and it just wasn't quick enough!? It seems to be better now, as someone owned me on Interlagos with it today :)

For me, my top underrated cars have got to be the WRX in gr.4. A bit of a challenge but pretty fast when ya get it right. For Gr.3, even though it's unwieldy and wild, the Beetle Gr.3. Great fun to drive, plus, you just can't go wrong with a beetle.

Love the 458 GT4. It just sticks so well, and of course the sound of ferrrari!!. For my GT3 car it has to be the vette. Love how it handles!!

In GT3 (Gr.3) i like a lot the Lexus and Corvette... Both a joy to drive even if they can't fight with some other more popular cars...:)

Ferrari and Z4 in Gr. 3 and Audi TT in Gr. 4. The best handling car has to be the Cayman Clubsport in Gr. 4 but all the seconds I gain around the corners I lose in the straights against the meganes.

Been liking the Lambos in both Gr.3 and 4. Whatever they did to tweak the GT3 helped quite a bit from my first stab at it. The 458 is nice in Gr.4 but the 3 is still a horrendous mess for me. Also, the Gr.4 WRX feels slow but I could outpace Meganes with it pre-adjustment.

I like the Mustang in Gr4. I'm usually the only one on the track using it. Until I win a few races, then I see other people pulling theirs out with stock livery. It's about a second faster/lap than my Corvette Gr4.

Mustang in Gr3 can also be a sleeper. Again, no one uses it in Gr3 either except for me. I prefer Corvettes, but for some reason, I'm faster with the ponies.

The McLaren GT3 was pretty fast at Brands Hatch the other day. I started 4th and finished 1 second behind the winner. It has excellent mid range acceleration, perfect for those brief straights.

I second the Gr4 Huracan, I do my best times on most tracks with the Huracan due to its AWD and fast speed. For Gr3 is the Corvette C7 and GT Citroen (although I suspect Citroen got a nerf hit in BoP changes), but lately I've been nailing it with the Genesis Gr3 though.

I want to like the McLarens, I even did some of my best livery work on the McLarens, but unlike in other (sim)racing games, it's slow as dung and doesn't rotate like a MR.

The Jags. Not too competitive but relaxed and predictable. Very enjoyable for me but not great for DR. I'm sure a better driver could win decisively in them.

The NSX Gr3. , I had never driven it until this past weekend. I've seen very few people driving it in races here and there and it always looked like a handful. When I drove it though, I was pleasantly surprised. You cannot get too careless because it does bite and will spun out on you if not careful. Sadly though, it also feels a bit too slow compared to the other cars I've driven. Other than that, the Z4 Gr3 is a good one too. Don't have one for Gr4 because I rarely drive them.

Good thread; made me realize that I've barely driven a quarter of the cars that are available.

Another vote for the NSX Gr.3, but then again it's my go to Gr.3 machine so I'm biased to say that anyway . Potentially snappy, but if you treat it with respect and drive smoothly it's so rewarding to drive, hence it being my favourite.

Otherwise I'd say the Gr.3 Atenza is a bit underrated too, stable enough and has plenty of grunt. Honorable mentions go to the Gr.3 RS01 and the Gr.4 NSX too.

I drive the Cayman GT4 in Gr.4 exclusively, which is extremely unpopular at the moment. I get swamped constantly on the straights. But there are usually one or two turns where it seems no one can touch me. However I do my first qualifying laps in Gr.4 with the WRX. Once I have that 90% down I switch back to my tail happy friend,

In Gr.3 I use exclusively the 911 RSR, but that is probably the Most popular car.

@gmaki I understand your struggle.

I practically exclusively use the NSX in Gr.4, and that really isn't top of the pile (not that I care). Like the Cayman, it certainly isn't the quickest down the straights, and it isn't necessarily the most dynamic through the bends either. However it's a joy to drive, and it has it's tracks where it seems to be more competitive. Otherwise I'll usually qualify lower middle with it, maybe top 10 if I'm lucky and really ring it's neck.

It's in the races themselves where I make my progress, though sometimes i can be "bullied" by much faster, and seemingly impatient drivers in quicker cars sometimes to eager to get past, and can ultimately fall victim. Otherwise I'm just waiting for the BoP to swing round in my favour when the NSX becomes the stronger car :sly::lol:.
