People need a reality check on what a sleeper is.
A sleeper is your typical family car, or typical base model hatch or coupe。
A supra is not a sleeper, A fiat panda would be considered a sleeper, Thoughs little AWD Kei cars are little monsters they are sleepers, A Toyota VITZ is a sleeper. A bone stock looking mazda atenza is a sleeper,

Basically a car that looks extremely slow, Get with the program people.

This.

my favorite sleeper i the Peugeot gti... the little small car you use for sesonal events a while back.. I fully built one and even though its a ff car it handles so well

Hyundai tiburon turburlence - $9,XXX

150hp after an oil change, before engine refresh, runs deep forest under 1:40 at the hand of a capable driver.. not a whole lot of understeer for a fwd car, quite promising sleeper material imo.

👍 Indeed, I just have the RM on it without any further performance parts. Blown away. Then again it weighs close to a postage stamp. :)

No modern lotus, let alone a race prepped Elise is near sleeper territory.

The only thing Lotus does is make sports cars and race.

Example of sleeper: VW Passat W8

It looks nearly identical to a regular passat, but has a 4L W8 putting out 270hp and AWD. The other Passat options of that year had either a 170hp I4 or 190hp V6.

For an in-game example I'd submit the legacy GT specB either the wagon or sedan. Sadly you can't swap out hoods in the game to lose the scoop.

Nice thread. The Odissey is a riot!

K cars are also sleepers.

Sports or sporty cars are NOT sleepers.

I think the Audi A2 1.4 and the Opel Corsa 1.4 may qualify as sleepers.

some suggestions:
Ford Ka
Mini 1.3i Cooper
Mini One/ Cooper - probably much quicker than you'd expect them to be
Citroen Xantia V6 - probably needs a bit tuning to make it a proper Q-car
Opel Vectra 3.2 V6 - again tuning would help
Volvo S60 - even as stock?

Dodge Viper ACR. Buy it for $100k, trick it out, and you have a 230 MPH Super Car that has over 1000 hp...

Audi R8. Awesome car...

I managed to tune a (stock) Skyline-killing Integra DC5, so I think that counts.

Except the Viper has a huge wing, racing stripes and is a Viper and thus clearly a fast car.

The Audi R8 looks faster than it is, and is thus a reverse sleeper.

Audi RS6... if you don't know what it is, you'll never see it coming. Really fast. The Mercedes CL600 from the UCD is also pretty fast, it doesn't have the AMG badges.

:dunce:

Sleeper. ie you pull up to it and say "what a slow car" only to be smoked to the next stoplight.

What part of street legal race car or supercar fits into sleeper?

Oooooo and the Jensen Interceptor! Aside from the Cobra, the Interceptor is the fastest muscle car IMO. Comes with a huge 440 Chrysler V8, a 6 speed transmission (full racing upgrade). It's light, powerful, and is easily capable of 200mph - all the while looking extremely bland and underpowered. Mines got 650hp, racing slicks... it takes out newer cars pretty embarassingly.

My 98 WRX STi Wagon is my favorite owned sleeper, pulls on anything of the line and can take a lot of supercars in the 1/4 or at least runs respectable against them. I always get the "wow" factor from people thinking im just messing around.

The last time I've actually "driven" in GT5 has been a good couple of months, so I can't say from experience, but I'l throw out a suggestion based on looks and specs... (I've been grinding B-Spec ever since I just about trashed an end table as my DFGT stand, and won't really drive again until I rectify the matter.)

I submit for your consideration the following:
Scion xB / Toyota bB
(You can stop laughing now.)

Working specifically off the xB specs, it only has 109 horsepower but it also only starts off with a slender 1,040 kilogram weight.
I can report back after I tune it up when I get home tonight, but I suspect that fully tuned, this might get close to a modern Lotus as far as power-to-weight ratio.
True, a "Lotus-esque" power-to-weight ratio is probably obtainable with plenty other small cars in the game. It's also true, there can't be very many cars of that general size that exude even a little bit of a performance vibe.

Could a sleepter xB beat a Ferrari in a race?
(Probably not, unless the Ferrari is being driven by a four-year-old that can't reach the pedals...)

However, the xB could be the "ultimate, silent sleeper", because nobody will want to admit they just got spanked by a toaster on wheels!

This thread is pointless when no one seems to know what a sleeper is, which is strange.

Read the first post for god sake.

True, like that van with, if I remember correctly an XJ220 engine from Top Gear

Just bought the Audi RS6 sedan from used dealership for 114000.
Its a monster 4WD comes with 450Hp! Tuned it to 740 Hp and 1300kg, takes on everything. Easy to drive and you can buy all extras so you can configure it as you wish. With no driving aids on its so easy to drive, no spinning out.
So there you have a car that is cheap and you get a supercar.
The best part...the sound (from outside view) it really sounds like a monster, never heard anything else sound that good. I just watched my replays for the sound of it, they really cought this one nice!!! Wish all were this good.

But it's not a sleeper, not even close.

Mazda Roadster NC. I use supercharger instead of turbo, 337bhp iirc. Can do under 7 mins on the nurburgring. my fastest time was 7.01.xxx, but alot of tune is needed the make it the perfect machine.

i honestly think the nissan skyline 350gt from the premium dealership. mine looks sporty cuz what i've done to it but you keep it stock and tune it out it aint that bad for its weight (1315kg) and hp (457)

The Stagea Autech is a nice machine.
Also the Subaru Impreza Tourers (but you could expect fast times from an Impreza ;)) are fast.
But the Thread-Title has to be changed.
Delete a zero => 50.000Cr. is the max for a sleeper
And a ZZII is no sleeper, its just a cheap supercar.
