Maybe because your not Australian? :p
But anyways, do you guys know where I can watch TGAU other than Youtube? Or can anyone please PM me where I can download the episode? Tried searching for the torrent, but to no avail...... :(

Well as we can see it worked for *someone*. Lets end the discussion here shall we. Oh and, I was born right here in Melbourne.

That episode was pathetic. I didn't find it funny, or interesting.

Thankyou. 👍

I can't say I've seen it yet but arn't you guys willing to give it more than 1 episode, let the presenters settle in and see if it improves.

I would give them time to settle in, but I simply don't like that they are trying to copy TGUK, I'd like them to make their own, more unique show more rather.

Agreed, it wasn't the quality of the British one. Oh well I guess it's better then nothing for the time being.

Nah. 1 Episode is enough. I think it's worse as well because you have something to compare it to. If Top Gear UK didn't even exist and this version was the original I may think "Well, at least it's somewhat innovative", but it sucks so hard compared to the UK version it's not funny. I don't know what alley they pulled the hosts from either.

It's like the US Series of The Office.

I don't think I'll be watching anything other than the UK top gear.

It's just not the same. It's like having a chinese ripoff of a Ipod or something.

Hey, ours isn't that bad (yes, I prefer the UK version). Thanks for sending us Kath & Kim by the way...

I think these spin offs might actually work better if they DIDN'T try to copy TG UK in every way... when I say that I mean don't try to do, act, and look what Jeremy, Richard, and captain slow are. In other news... that track sucked balls, it doesn't test anything with cars. That or they have to do a much better job of showing it because it seemed awfully worthless to me.

Jane Turner and Gina Riley were much better when they were back in Fast Forward and to a lesser extent Full Frontal.

As for AU TG, I will keep watching it. And yes as said above the track is awful.

It's also a Haltech GTR, i.e. faster than stock

That doesn't mean they ran it with the Haltech tune, because that would seriously be irresponsible and not in the clowning around UKTG type irresponsible way.

Can you say b-o-r-i-n-g? I appreciate the effort, but that was almost as bad as Top Gear UK season 1.

And was that really a track, or was that just a bit of sidewalk with a few cones randomly scattered on it?

It's a franchise, it's not supposed to be different, it's meant to be the same.

It didn't sound like a stock GTR, it sounded wierd.

Well, I'm with most.

It was a bit boring. Very contrived as has been said. Not to mention, with track times being so low, I can't imagine their track is very long or difficult. Not that the camera angles let you see what was going on anyway.

However, those who remember TGUK series 1, will attest to the fact that it wasn't much better. Like TG Australia, the track camera angles were horrible, the cuts to comercial were seemingly in random spots, and the gentleman who James May ended up replacing (can't remember his name) was, and I'm being nice here, rubbish. It wasn't until season 3 or 4 when it all started coming together in a cohesive manner.

So, I'll reserve final judgement if/until they get the kinks worked out.

Next is TGUS. I have to say, I'm not holding out much hope for that one. Tanner Foust, while an excellent driver, is as charismatic as a pet rock.

;)

 Tanner Foust... ? EPIC FAIL without even starting. Have you seen Super Cars Exposed?! What is he going to do in TG think he looks cool getting another ticket at the end of the show while touting Don't street race? ha...

The Haltech GTR is completely stock other than the ECU (which is a Haltech unit, of course). The ECU was apparently reset to Nissan factory spec before the lap was run.

Top Gear season 1? - i'm surprised most of you guys can remember as far back as 1977!

Will we get TG US in Oz?
Even if we don't get quality as good as the UK show, at least we'll get cars from our home markets. IMO I still like the TG AU show, and it can only improve.

There is always the internet, I'm sure you'll be able to see the show on YouTube or at least clips of it anyways. If not there are sites out there which allow you to get the shows in a semi-illegal way...which is how us in the US see them most of the time.

Although you might be able to try the NBC website once the Top Gear: America starts since they typically have the shows on there. Although I have no idea if it's for those of us in the states or not.

Exactly. So it's supposed to be funny and entertaining. And it's not.

It's like walking into a new franchised Krispy Kreme and all they stock is plain cinnamon donuts.

I liked the first season of Top Gear. Does that mean I will like the Australian version or is it rubbisher?

They shouldn't be making the same mistakes as TGUK made in the beginning. They should be able to pick up where TGUK left off.

Like Casio says, you don't walk into a new McDonalds and see all they stock is Hamburgers.

If anyone here in Australia reads the Herald Sun (Victorian Newspaper), there's an article in Confidential that gives away a challenge.

Pizzatti and Brown bought a 200,000 dollar tractor and drove it down Lygon St, or similar.

OK cool. Hopefully there will be some good muscle car action in the TG US show, maybe the new Camaro vs Challenger vs Mustang?:D

Oh dear, that does sound like a crap challenge. Then again, buying tractors and planting a field of bio-fuel (diesel by mistake) sounds worse, but UK pulled it off.

That was what I could get from the picture in the article. Who knows what they are going to do with it.

I just know it's something to do with a tractor.

Why is it that even now, when we haven't seen extra episodes yet, the Aussie crew are growing on me? The more I think about it, the better I think episode 1 was, we just had a critical line of thinking when we watched it.
