Unreliable check marks on purchased cars

They were not marked as sold out. They were not marked at all, which led me to believe I don't have them yet, so I bought them only to find them as duplicates in my garage later.

Maybe it doesn't count 'dupes'?

Or cars obtained through trading or something?

On the plus side all the time people spent documenting their garages in spreadsheets or mygrandtourismo.net isn't a waste?

I don't get it.. people whined about there being no kind of feature to show that you own a certain car.. now that it comes in and is a bit bugged.. people whine ever more!

just be grateful for what PD have given us.. they could've easily not made any new updates and left the game as it was but they didn't, they decided to update the game and make it better to, i suppose, please the GT5 community

Folks with this mentality are the perfect consumer for PD if its new direction is to deliver half finished games that arent even fully debugged and then implement incremental updates that are also not debugged. Hurray for mediocre quality control at a premium price of "entry". At least the updates are free as they should be.

They are trying to complete the game using us as test dummies but you cant possibly be ok with a broken feature and many other errors in a game you paid money for. If so I got a bike wheel with a few missing spokes that I will sell to you for full price. Ill include a spoke a month till you get all the spokes it should have come with but they might not work right. When can I expect your payment? Im sure you wont mind the wobbly ride afterall Im sending you the missing pieces for free.

I am glad PD is trying to finish the product but when the broken product is "fixed" with another broken feature it does raise up the old bad feelings again about PD. Ive got a handle on it but this does irk me a bit. Can PD please debug something pleaseeee lol...:)

simple solution to this:

same model same color blue check mark

same model different color orange/red/yellow check mark

was the unchecked car a different color?

This. New colors were added to the UCD so the check routine is seeing these as new cars completely, since the color was not associated with that car previously.

I always double check anyway, with my list. I.E. as I'm buying a car, scan through my list and cross it off. Haven't found an issue with checked cars being false, as that was one of the first things I looked at (the first 4 UCD cycles i came to I still checked the checked off cars).

As long as it doesn't check cars you don't have, I can live with it. :)

Same here, but how can we be sure of that now?

I really didn't mean to whine about this bug, as I am very happy with the update overall and was especially glad to see this new feature added by PD, as it is a great help for collecting cars. Finding out that it doesn't work as expected was just quite a disappointment.

Seeing how many improvements PD poured into 1.06 I have no doubt they will fix this soon, but I still felt obliged to report the bug to other unsuspecting collectors.

Peace? :)

When people complain the lack of the feature, they are actually complaining about the lack of "it", wishing "it" being like what they exactly(or at least close to what they) want; until it becomes so they won't stop. They do so because they love the game. I don't think a perfectionist like Kaz would feel any unhappy when his followers go picky on his game.

Strange. Have no issues here, cars that are completely different colours but I already own come up with a check no matter what. For example, the Golf GTI (white under the old system) popped up in black and red and both were ticked. Same with Isuzu Bellet which was also white in old UCD and an orange one popped up, it was ticked already. Had no issues so far.

I haven't tested this yet but I have a theory.... could the source of the bug be related to whether you have painted a car a different colour to the one you bought?

I thought a couple I bought without checkmarks were doubles, but I was just tired and misread the names: they were slightly different. So it has been working for me. And if I should buy a couple duplicates, still saves WAY more time then the methods I have been using.

Just a question for those who are getting dupes: do you happen to dupe cars or reinstall old files etc: I heard there was an issue with missing pics and and pics with different paint jobs or something for those who did. Maybe you are getting conflicts between your garage and your car list. I'm just saying there could be reasons besides an error on PD's part that could cause such problems and it is rather hasty to jump to conclusions on day one. Give it a week or two and I'm sure the cause will become apparent. Though the giving of a warning is completely justified.

Maybe the difference is zero miles from a ticket vs one with mileage from the UCD: I can't check as I haven't seen a dupe and I'm only 20 or so away from owning every model.

No that cannot be...FTO super touring car now comes up, in yellow, I had one in black, and its got a tick next to it.

I've bought quite a few cars (20) since the update and none of them have been duplicates, so I'm not sure what caused it. Plenty of new colours on cars I already have, too. I don't dupe, but I haven't seen any cars come up that I remember having to trade to get, so I'm not sure if that's the cause.

Make sure that they are actually duplicates. They could simply the same car but different trims that have a very similar name, different regional versions of the same car or the same car and trim but with one year difference.

Also, verify by buying the car and then looking into your car list if they are actually duplicates.

Even if you are using Excel/Web based checklist, you might do errors.
After seeing this thread I checked the 10ish cars I bought since the update, only one was already checked in my checklist but it happens that I accidentaly checked it and therefore, I do not have duplicates of this car.

TrackpadUser could be right... there are some tiny differences between certain models.

My own theory is that this problem is related to the "Sold Out" bug where a car shows as "Sold Out" (even though you haven't bought it) because you bought the car that was in that slot before the update.

I wonder if the ticks (checks) refer to the fact that you own the car that was in that slot before the update? It would make sense for the bugs to be related.

If I'm right (and I'm only guessing) then the problem will sort itself out the next time each dealership refreshes.

The issue (for me, and reports from others), has to do with a NEW color being introduced. For example, the GTI, popping up in black and red and being ticked, comes natively in those colors pre update (meaning, those colors were already possible for the car to have in UCD). Now, some cars got introduced with a completely new color scheme, that was not possible before. Hence, the UCD becomes unchecked for the exact car, under the new color scheme.

At any rate, I always check it anyway.

How can you defend something that's broken?

I'm used to this from GT fanboys. The Gran Turismo Fanboy Defense League has done this for many years. Any feature that other games have but GT doesn't is a bad thing that we're better off without, the game is perfect in every way and changing it makes it worse than perfection, and any complaints are shrugged off as nonsense and swept under the rug.

Just another day in the GT community.

No issue from my game yet. I have a red SLR '03 in my garage and when a silver one show up in UCD, it has a check mark on it.

What's the POINT of a feature that doesn't WORK, fanboys?

If you have to go back to your garage, to double-check the new 'feature', you are doing EXACTLY what you used to have to do BEFORE it was introduced. Which makes it completely useless.

The next time you are driving around IRL, and a new style traffic light lets you across a junction to be hit by side traffic, don't make an insurance claim, don't sue the traffic light manufacturer, don't complain to your Representative. Just THANK them for putting up a new traffic light, and go on your way... :grumpy:

Quite disappointed to hear about this right after I've just bought a load of cars, but they were all cheap ones, so I guess its not too much of a problem. Hope they fix this soon though because it would be a brilliant feature if it worked properly.

Anyway, the main thing I wanted to add, was that I would really like it if it put a tick next to the brand logo in the "Dealerships" if you own every car of that make.

It is definitely broken already i've had 3 cars that I supposedly "don't own" only to find I do own them! :yuck:

Took me about 10 seconds to figure out that although I KNEW I had a car listed on the UCD that didn't have a tick, it was in a different colour from what I had. Not rocket science. AND it's certainly not a bug or glitch.

Dunno what happened with the OP and the others who noticed errors - it has worked perfectly for me! I have not bought any duplicates unless it is by choice.

I find that hard to believe. If its down to colour, then its a pretty useless function. So they think we want to collect every single car in every single colour?

Checks have been unreliable for me too.
These unchecked cars that I already owned were not painted or duped. One was a rally car that was exactly the same as the one I owned other than a slight mileage difference so color had nothing to do with it either. Unless the rally car had some very slight difference that would take a second look.
I won't get a chance to play for a few days but I'll post more after I can test it further.

It is a bug. Cars without check mark at the dealership were exact duplicates of the ones in my garage in every way: same model, same color, same mileage. And no, I didn't 'dupe' the cars and they weren't gifted, either.

Even a car I already had bought 2 identical ones of since the update (Mazda MX-5 J-Limited (NA, J) '91, same color, same mileage) still shows up without check mark. And yes, I know there are the almost identical Mazda MX-5 J-Limited (NA, J) '91 and Mazda MX-5 Miata J-Limited (NA, J) '91 - I have both of them.

At least I have not encountered any false positives so far, meaning that if there IS a check mark the car IS in my garage already (regardless of color and mileage).
