Thought I should flag this up to someone but while I was browsing just, it came up with an advert for a Formula One teams Merchandise and clothing etc and some shoes in the advert and all that and said as well that it is possible to preorder clothing and stuff and that it will all be available from July.

The strange thing is that it was an advert for Brawn GP and that it was July 2009 that you could purchase from. I presume that Mercedes GP aren't still advertising as Brawn and that this advert shouldn't be in use any more.

I don't think Jordan has much control over ads, correct me if I'm wrong. I think it is the fault of whatever ad provider is used. Nor does it really matter.

Skier is correct, the majority of the ads are provided and managed by Google and other ad providers, so there's nothing I can really do about the old ad - someone, somewhere is running it in their campaign, probably by mistake.

Brawn GP items are probably collector's stuff now, grab them! ;)

EDIT - btw, Jordan, I have been meaning to ask you this for a while but it isn't "thread-worthy". I usually get ads here about gaming, motorsports, cars, movies (right now I'm seeing a playseat ad at the bottom of the page, with a smiling Takuma Sato ). But in certain threads I also get quite different kinds of ads so I'd like to ask you if/how is this run. I mean, how do the advertisers know what we are discussing and what info (if any) do they get from the users that are frequent visitors of certain threads.

(good examples of this are the "Do you Believe in God" thread where I usually get a religious ad about
"Jesus, Hell & Death - Spiritual realm of Hell & sufferingMisery & Torment  ; and the "homosexuality" thread where very often I get a ad to a gay site, with a couple of bearded gay guys dressed like Folies Bergere dancers ... quite a funny pic too LOL )

Actually ads are targeted via your browsing habits. You get lots of ads for bike products if you spend your time googling bikes, you get ads for Christianity and Gay dating sites if you...well you get the idea :P

I'm just kidding BTW, it's a bit of both usually lol.

If you haven't deduced it already, ad campaigns try to serve you "relevant" ads so that the chances of you clicking on it are maximized. It picks up certain words contained in the thread posts and display ads that they think are relevant, which is why you get religious ads when browsing the religion threads and those other "ads" you spoke about.

Glad I have premium so I dont have to put up with these adverts.

It must be nice, though I love how unintrusive they are. Just a banner on the top and bottom of each page.

Just get an adblocker if you don't like them. I usually turn mine off on GTP, so they can generate some $$$.

Ads in gtplanet pose no problem, no pop up, no pop under, it's just banners on top and bottom like Skier wrote.

And I suppose the ads do help Jordan keeping gtplanet alive so why block them? Oh look, there's Sato in his playseat again, he's a nice bloke!

That happens to me as well. One time I was on the Official GT Academy thread/sub-forum and an ad popped up with the exact same subject. Forgot what it said though. It also explains the ads mostly being cars, like the ad right now is the 2011 Toyota Camry.
