i have thought of an idea for GT4 in the future, that you could buy discs from pd to update GT4 like put new cars and new tracks on the game

pls reply with your ideas!

If they ever decide to release an update then i'd rather see them making it available for download instead of buying discs.

You would also have to have an HDD.

It would be pointless since the PS2 HDD isn't in many peoples homes and not many would buy one now anyway sicne the PS2's nearing the end of it's life and the PS3's due next year. Maybe for GT5 we'll get some updates, but if we do, don't expect them to be weekley or anything, maye one or two new packs a year at most. They would be a 99% chance that the updates would be downloaded rather than on disk too and it would probably be at a cost since PD and Sony would want to make some money back for spending more time updating the game after launch.

if they rereleased GT4 with tweaks then yes thats possible, but not whole new cars or tracks, certainly not without a HDD, and even then 99% of the game would have to be changed to acommodate the new items.

If they were to release an update disc, it should contain the online mode which they claimed they had working. Or atleast admit they talk bollocks and refuse to add any decent new features that actually improve and add to the gameplay.

You could use your A-SPEC points to buy cars online, then they might actually mean somethin'

Just my opinion.

That is actually a pretty good idea :) Would have to be ways of preventing people from abusing that system though if the cars were to be as 'exclusive' as possible.

Also think they a 2nd hand parts market for parts should be incorporated.. as well as cars already modded....!!

But wud everyone buy the most recent GT every 6months - 1yr... or do we just wait 3yrs for it to completly blow the old GT out the water??

Holy crap, so you do know everything!!! 💡 Gotta love those TLAs.

Why is it that every PC game worth its salt comes out with numerous patches for everything from new units/maps/features to minuscule balancing changes - while the GT series gets away with releasing stuff that would have had patches flying out its exhaust pipe, probably on a weekly basis, given some of the issues found???

I am cool with buying a game knowing that any major issues will be fixed - but why aren't these console games accountable for their dodgey QA?

It's impossible to prevent abuse. Someone will find a super A-spec car (like the Ram), or just use the GameShark.

Oh yeah I know that, but the more preventative measures the better. :)

I'd like to see a "GT - 24hours" with GT4's larger tracks (of course LeMans and Nür along the famous Grand Valley Speedway) and only with them, but... with only GT Race Cars (maybe some new, like DBR). The rest of the ressources could and should be taken to let drive 50+(100+) cars. That and a useful saving system could be a good investition in waiting for GT5.

(god, my english got worse^^)

If online updates were possible (probably in GT5 with PS/3, if it has a hard drive), my biggest wish would be "fixes" to bugs, glitches, and even features that sounded great in the design and test rooms but did not work out as well in real life.

As an example of something that would have been a prime candidate for an online update in GT4 is the 5 second penalty. Wonderful idea, probably tested great, but once distributed... most people hate it. An online fix (like applying the penalty to both human and AI drivers, or a disable switch) could have made it the "best new feature" of the game.

As to the online play, GT4 was originally supposed to have it. And the current LAN mode is so close (from a programming perspective) to a "player hosted" internet-based game that I cannot understand why it was not made available. Definitely not a technical nor a "development time" issue. The only explanations that I can come up with are marketing strategy or perhaps a wish to make the first internet version very sophisticated.

Good idea but there is a problem because in gt4 the a-spec points have a limit which can be reached. Once you have accumilated 200 points in each race then there are no more points to be won.

If they did impliment this in GT5 ( like live4speed mentioned the ps3 is near the end of its life so any update, upgrades or online versions will be for the ps3) as you reach a certain number of a-spec points then it would unlock a new bunch of cars, for instance

1000 aspec points ulocks ff cars, 2000 points = fr cars etc etc - up to the maximum number of points wich can be attained unlocking specials such as the F1 car or Ford model T.

:)

Nope... usable A-Spec points... when you use them up, start the game all over to build up A-Spec for the next set of cars... or trade them online... hmmm...

Hello everyone. I have just finished patching my GT4 Pal iso, so that it can work with my HDLoader. I followed the guide step by step, using the g4 pal core pff and the sces517 pff required for the pal version. Everything went just fine and got my iso created (5.23 gbytes). The thing is that WinHIIP (v1.7.3) says that the image is of an "unrecognised file format" and cant install it. HDL Dumb can though. So after installing it using the latter one, i try to play the game but the only thing i get is a black screen. I tried switching the game into modes 3 and then 1 using winhiip again ( it can edit the image once hdl dumb has transfered it) but still no luck. Can anyone pls help?
