Hi guys. I made my mate get gt6 for Christmas, and he has been trying to download/update gt6 for the last 2-3 days! I found this confusing, I know it takes long, but not that long. so I told him to do the download whilst he was doing something else (example school), but he told me he tried this and would come home to a turned off ps3 without the download (not because of his parents lol) I told him to look online, he said he did and he cant find anything to help or guide him. sadly, he does not have the aid I have from gtplanet, so guys, its a big ask, but does anyone have a clue to what can be done to help him please. everything will be much appreciated :)

Tell him to turn off the system sleep mode. Found under power settings.

oh yeah that was obvious lol, thanks

so even though its not hacked now, this would effect the time it takes?

oh yeah that was obvious lol, thanks
I will ask him and see if this helps him, if not we will have to find another reason

That will stop the system from turning off. As far as download time it's normal for it to take a while. Thank PD for making us download a HD video everytime they release a VGT.

haha yeah I thank them so very much-not. he told me it was turned on so he turned it off right now and is downloading while he watches a film

I was like this to I got my my ps3 for Christmas to having the same problem
First thing to do
Update the first then quit it then go to ps3 setting network setting then disable it
Then go to gt6 and go on the home screen then do this over and over again
But remember to disable the internet after the first update then go into gt6 and go back out on the ps3 home screen
Then enable then internet then do it again.

wow that's a lot to remember to tell my friend, but thanks for the ffort and detail. I will somehow get this across to him, lol

But I have done all of the update but when I get to the last one the mins keep going up at it won't update

I got GT6 for Christmas and had 14 updates to complete. I downloaded all the updates but then when running the game it wanted to install and would eventually crash. This could be a lack of space issue, however I found that I could download the first 7 updates, quit the next update, it was over 2GB. Turn off the internet connection, system settings or simply unplug the PS and run the game. Once it had loaded to the 1st screen, exit the game and then turn the internet connection back on. If you press triangle on the game disc in the XMB menu then you can choose to check for updates, allow it to download and install the update then quite before it starts the next update. Disable the internet and run the game again, allow it to install that update then quit the game. Keep doing this with the big updates, the last 4 I did as a block and after 3 hours or so the game had installed the updates. I can now get on-line, although I'm now working through the B License rounds so I can get the A License before joining the online community, the real reason I bought this game!

If this doesn't seem very clear tell your friend or google yourself for GT6 update problems and you should find some useful info and hints on what to do to complete the updates.

my pleasure chiggy, thanks guys for helping him, it worked ;)

Glad it all worked out. It is a very dark place when you download a huge raft of patches only for it to fail ...

Drive it like Boiled Ham.

haha yeah, luckily for me it just did it, but I got it as soon as it came out, Chiggy had to download all the new updates aswell.

It could possibly deal with the connection. I'm not sure if your friend bought the digital version or the disc, which?

I have the digital version, which I literally just finished re-downloading this morning. (Started before bed last night at around 11pm)

I had to restart it a few times, simply because there were too many devices using internet. Like my phone was connected, my sister's phone, and TV.

So I waited until they went to bed and the estimate for the download time decreased <drastically>. That may be the issue.

That is if ths ps3 didn't reveal any error codes.

hi guy my cosine has to same problem I did but I cant remember what I did so if anyone has any ideas then please write back as soon as possible
