Update July 2nd, 10 PM EST

I like the Expert event (except the tyres), I can see why you don't though.

Surely the interest in this game hasn't fizzled out that much?:indiff: There were 8 expert events before and now there's only 2 (regional):yuck::ouch::grumpy:

Yes, apart from putting race tyres on a standard road car (no fun in that), it is hard for me to get passionate about cars without soul or character. I never liked the sound of either of them either really, the GT-R is OK for a V6, but could be louder considering it's a supercar.

Guys, why all the negativity? It's only 2 weeks 'til the next update... just go drag the 430 out of the garage and get out and race in the World event... it's great car and not too hard to drive on R1's.

I think i might just practice my drifing until the next update :p

Still can't see why they removed Suzuka 600pp, surely that was the most popular event .

So can someone Summarize what have been changed? I won't be playing GT5P till late in the day :(

My negativity is because we haven't had a Daytona Road expert race in months now.

Wow, the removal of Suz600 is very disappointing indeed, I've never gone back to the same race so much in any GT game, and the level of skill in those races had reached the point where you were almost guaranteed a serious race every time.

As Stotty says, it is only 2 weeks, but I have a feeling when it returns it may not be the same tyre restriction...and I was really beginning to enjoy the S2 600PP setup.

Feels like we've lost a close friend ;)

Chin up.

All the best

Every time there's an event change over people have a moan - remember the outcry at the move to S2 tyres? In 2 weeks it will change again and we'll have something new to moan about.

Some people need to read 'who stole my cheese?'

Bah! ... sounds like its hardly worth booting the PS3 up now to play this game 👎

looks like some **** in the PD offices has been reading here to see what people want and gave them none of it, looks like I'm going back to COD4 and GT4 for a while until they scrape this tripe off the race events menu :irked:

Add me as a friend on your PS3 friends list IVE_GOTTA_DONK I'll have a blast on COD4 with you 👍

And some people need to that realize that everyone is free to like or dislike something without people having a moan back at them for not being happy with change :p .. not everyone is happy to take such a drastic turnaround with a pinch of salt. ;)

edit: Sure thing GTP_Dong ... I mean GTP_Donk! :p will add you next time I boot the PS3

Touche :D And I'm not moaning at people, I'm just trying to encourage a more positive vibe!

Personally, every time I've ever sat down to play one of the various versions of Gran Turismo I've always thought how lucky I am to have such a great game to play, whatever it's shortcomings.

Losing 600PP Suzi is just rubbish... if they wanted to drop a 600PP race, make it Fuji.
..

No no no, I love the mountain that guards the track!

..but seriously, they (PD) are just preparing for GT5 (they are "guinea-pigging" us..) So I decide to go with the flow. Although the "chrashcarnage" seems to have increased, a lot...:grumpy:

Hi "IVE_GOTTA_DONK" you want to kill me in cage match?
I'll add you in my finbaek -account...

looks like some **** in the PD offices has been reading here to see what people want and gave them none of it:

Lol, well i can't deny you your prerogative "grumpy old bastard" still i beg to differ.
Two things upfront:

- i raced the pp600 su exclusively, so yes i am hurt too.
- i don't know if PD takes notice of what we share on the forum, but let;s just assume they do

We had major complaints about the rubberband effect, i think that has been tweaked to our satisfaction.
We were moaning about tyre restrictions and how the r3 had waaay too much grip. That was catered for.
We were after single make races, we get suzuka with a choice between 2 carsof about 650PP (wild guess) on s3 tyres, tbh i think the gtr vs 430 works out very nicely.

I will miss the open suzuka 600 for the coming weeks but i think you're being a bit too grumpy ;)

Lighten up, GT5P is more then just suzuka 600, we will miss your presence but COD4 is a good game too, so i can't blame you. (but don't you think your laptimes will decrease after diving a battletank? i mean the cornering is crap and the straight line speed is awfull, the only good thing about a tank is that you'll be out of the sand of Suzuka 1 very quickly

Oh dear, that's me too then i suppose
Lol, it's funny quote, it both defends and destroys your argument, let me get this straight;
You are free to express your feeling wrt the changes, but others may not express how they feel about your expressions?
That sounds a bit off to me. I fully agree that your opinion is your opinion, but as soon as you post them on a forum then you can expect differing views, isn't that what a forum is all about?

Ah well, i'm sure you mean well and i'm probably making an elephant from some peanuts ;)

Btw, Mr P ardius has setup a F1RC season, we have a spare seat and we start at 22:00 UK time tonight, so if you don;t feel like COD4 or GT5P, please do join us.

I moan at this nonsense because I am not being satified as costumer. I want all events..in all levels.. I feel like we are being forced into 3 events. There needs to be more options for everyones liking.

:D

I like the international expert event, but I predict soon it will be an all GT-R affair, since the GT-R's all start in front of all the F430s, and pull away with the standing start. The F430s have a small speed advantage, but with drivers of equal skill, the F430s generally can't catch the GT-Rs before the 3 laps are done.

I ran with an F430 all night last night. I'll try the GT-R tonight and see if there's any difference in perspective from the other side.

So we will all end up racing alone, but with the exact race specs specs we like?
I was kidding ofcoz, but with a serious undertone.
I think there may not be enough people online to cater for such diversity and still have full grids, but i have no idea of how many people are online at any given time.

Sure i am aware of the "populated indicators" but they don't translate into numbers for me.
I'm not sure if the above is an real issue or not, but it might be.
It would make sense for PD to use us as testpool to come up with the best racing scenario's, i guess it's clear to them that suzuka 600PP is really really poular. I would understand a removal of suzuka600PP for some weeks as that forces drivers that drove Su6 exclusively to 'pick a second choice'.
I'm sure they collect loads of statistics and seeing how new online racing is to GT, i'm not picky.

I'm all for small sacrifices now so that when GT5 hits gold the game is finished.
Ofcourse the chance that the above story is a complete fantasy is fairly big.
Well, i believe it anyway, it helps me cope with my loss (su6).

FAILED AGAIN. To me this events update is a disgrace to its owners and supports of this demo game. Its like they are slowly ripping us off.. I am just flabergasted by the new events..3 Expert event? What a joke.

I think I know why though..GT5P users usage has gone down a lot. So I guess PD figures we don't need all those events..

Yeah I get it too! But it makes me feel better when I curse PD.. They are no different from any other company. Instead of giving us what they think we want, they should be asking us what we want. The numbers are not always accurate. For instance so many of us want Daytona Road back again. Well they can't tell if we want it or not because there is no online partication, there is no bloody event!

PD needs to ask us! Plain and simple.. "What do you guys want?" Take the norms suggestions and carry it out. Not just something they think they interpreted from numbers.

I am one of the thousands of unhappy customers from this round of Online Events updates.

What a bunch of rubbish!

:D

There's not much in GT5P worth racing when PP600 Suzuka is taken out of the mix .. not anything I like to race anyway, can't make myself like the daytona race no matter how hard I try, let's hope in 2 weeks its a bumper package update to make up for this poor showing ;)

Yep it's a forum and I do expect opinions differing from my own ;) ... but on that occasion with my first post I was having a little indirect moan at PD out loud over my dislike with the new update choices and hoping with the tiniest off chance they do they read this forum! and by some miracle .. some rep would be the one with the moan back at me .. I wasn't airing at any forum members unless they work for PD and chose the events for the latest update! :p ... no forum member should feel offended, it was simply an outloud whinge hoping it would get to the people it was directed at and not towards any forum member .. smarmy suggestions from some random person who wasn't even being moaned at will always get a smarmy reply back .. so there! :sly:

My reply to Stotty was just missing the finer details I have included above ;) It was more a friendly nudge then, the more elaborate details of why I said it have been forcefully interrogated from me with the multiple quotes and the spotlights

haha 👍

Thanks for the invite mate, moved my pc and race set up to another location and still to fix up the wheel etc .. wont be racing tonight! have fun anyway

I think the thing we want most of all is private rooms where we can set up our own races. I feel that would lead to a mushroom of speciality type racing where individual leagues could provide people with niche races. That would also make PD's job a whole lot easier in trying to satisfy the masses.

For those people continuing to race the online events, could you please take note of the penalty system? I think it has improved. I am sure I had some situations last night where I would have received an unfair penalty in the past but instead the instigator seemed to cop the penalty. My skills aren't great so I could be wrong. I would appreciate some feedback from the more talented drivers.

Ozoldtimer,

If you would like we can race int he international event. We will be racing every 15 mins.. :00 :15 :30..:45.. See you there..

You are not wrong abou the penalty system. It sucks, and sometimes is unfair and injust. I have too notice a signifacant decrease in its error though. It has gotten better.

Hope to see in the masses!

I like the new international event too. I wish they had more events like this, or even an all F430 event (maybe they have in the past and i just missed them).

Well sad to see 600PP Suzuka go but at least Fuji is more busy now. Had some great times there tonight. A few cage matches but I saw more manners than I did malicious intent. Find it to be a great track and a chance to drive some different choices.

International event is fun, plenty busy so nice to have some people around to race at last but it sure can get messy. Big improvement over the beginner international even though.

Fingers crossed for Daytona Road 600pp next time around.

Well, I have to admit I didn't expect anything quite this horrible. I ejected my disk and put in GT4. Time to go back to the courses I really love for a few weeks. I've been missing Nurburgring and Citta di Arria and Gorge V Paris and El Capitan anyway, and this update finally drew the line in the sand for me.

Maybe I'll play with some setups in arcade mode in Eiger, London, Daytona Road or HSR. But it is becoming quite obvious that the courses I enjoy driving are way at the bottom of PD's list, while the course I've always hated remains their favorite.

Has anyone given thought to the idea that maybe this is the way GT5 is going to work (PD controlling all the events)? I mean, do we know *for sure* that there will be private "rooms"? Is it a confirmed feature or is it just wishful thinking?
