Yeah, the 2.3L Mustang is by far the pinnacle of American motoring. You'd totally ruin it by putting in anything else.

It was still built and designed here wasn't? Point being is if you're going to own and Mustang and swap an engine in, keep it a Mustang and not a Prius. That said, I'm done here.
 
I'd rather have this Prius power than Pinto power. Oh, and language warning.

I was saying if you were putting in another engine keep it a Mustang engine (could be anything) and not something else. So what if it loses? If he swaps it put another 'Stang engine in. That's the point I'm making.

We got that part, yes. And considering you completely flipped when someone made a Fast and the Furious joke (and then went on to imply that the Ford Pinto motor, of all things, was a thing of American pride), I have to wonder if at this point people aren't suggesting oddball Japanese motors just to screw with you.

A Mustang with an RB26DETT would be interesting/insane.

I like your style. I was actually thinking an SR20DETT would be applicable. They're certainly common enough, and a lot of people like em. It would be a nice alternative to a V8.
 
Bleh. If he was going to swap in something from the SR range, he might as well swap in a VG30 instead. They're like buttah, and they take ALL the power. I wouldn't be surprised if they were easier to get ahold of, either.

I recall somewhere seeing an MKIII Supra with a new 5.0 Mustang V8. Twas interesting.

I just like being different.
 
The Rotary powered Nova is a cool idea, but it sounds (Warning - Opinion alert) bad, and I doubt it gets very much better MPG than a V8 would.
 
Almost all rotaries sound like some kid making engine sounds in a can.

Ah that's only because the pressure wave from the exhaust messes with the exhaust tubing. The shorter the pipe, the better they sound:

The only detriment I can think of against rotaries is their lack of torque. A Mustang gotta have torque down low. The RB and 2JZ offer that, but dont have the scream that makes our collective underwear tighten.

I was thinking rotary to be different. Otherwise put a 350 in it and be done with in.

If you're going to do an engine swap you need to consider your skill level. If you have no idea what you're doing pick an engine that is commonly swapped so that there's a ton of information out there on it already. If you do have knowledge then just pick whatever you want and say 🤬 the haters.

Remember there is no such thing as a "sacrilegious" engine swap. The only people that are concerned with that crap are bleeding hearted fanboys and ignorant rednecks ("Y'all ain't gunna be puttin no Toy-ore-ter motor in dem Key-marrows). Most of the people who'd hate on your engine swap are probably just jealous that either a.) they don't know how to do it or b.) you came up with a better idea.

I assume if you're talking about flappy paddle transmissions, you're planning on dumping some money into this project since there is nothing cheap about doing that kind of trans. So dream big and see what you can come up with.

I'd say look at a 2.0L EcoBoost engine but I don't know if Ford is selling those yet as crate motors. Another alternative would be an SRT-4 swap. A buddy of mine is in the process of building a the 2.4L Chrysler Long Block that is twincharged (you know both super and turbo charged). It currently is only running the supercharger and puts down around 300hp to the wheels. It's in a Dodge Neon right now as sort of a test mule, but I think the ultimate goal is to dump it into something completely unique. I know he's said maybe a shortbed Ram or a Subaru WRX.

If it were me building something like that, with a half way decent budget I'd shoot for small and forced induction over a big V8. It'd be way more unique and if you did your research it could be much lighter too.

Or you know, you could just put an LS1 in it because LS1's fit anything :lol:
