It may not be that easy, but I've wondered the same thing.


I've heard once that VAG owned the giant ring, but I don't think that's true nor the reason why it wouldn't go over there.
 
If you'd asked me before the attempt, I wouldn't have placed any bets on the car going much faster than 200 mph... I'd say 240 might be possible at Nardo, but for increments above that, they'll have to do a lot of tweaking.

...Certainly, they could take it to Europe, but I was merely suggesting tracks that they could use in America...

Anyway, the Bugatti had its speed records set at the Ehra-Lessien test track just outside of Wolfsburg. It is where they offer owners the chance to take their cars to the 253.3 MPH limiter a few times a year...

I don't think VW would be too keen to let other companies use that track to try to topple the Veyron. The Nardo ring should be much more accessible, SSC surely have enough money to do a proper top speed attempt and bring the car over to Europe.
