When i went back to race, i found that the AI were running better cars than before. So my car was better, but not in relation to the competition. So i got a racing exhaust, for a few more horsepower. Go back to race, but the AI is running better cars again! This carried on till i spent the 10G you start with. Rather than continue like this, i cut my loses and sold the lupo, and bought a second hand prelude SH. Same thing thing happened. As i upgraded the car, some of the AI cars would change. Eventually i won my races.

Same experience here. I upgraded my CRX, thought I'd breeze thru the Sunday Cup again.....NO No No... the reverse SSR5 track had quicker cars this time around. This makes it much more challenging in my opinion.

edit: after upgrading, the A-spec points went down, but competition goes up. odd, maybe i'll learn more about this after more time playing.

Unforunately, i'll have to wait for the weekend, before any two player racing.

Ya, its weird about the A-spec points going down, when the competition goes up. I understood the whole point of these points as being a system where you could drive a more competetive vehicle than the AI, to complete a race win, but would be awarded less, or no points.

It is more challenging though. This way i can't blow past the AI in the straights, so most of my passing is in the corners, which is more challenging, realistic, and ultimately more rewarding.

Hi all, my first post on this board so be patient :) :dopey:

I've got GT3 et GT4PL with the DFP wheel (this rocks!!!x100) and i'm wondering whether the physics step up is noticeable from GT4PL to GT4???? 💡

Cheers.

My thoughts....

Loving GT4 with all my heart and soul... The first thing I did was take the M3 for a blast on Nurburgring in arcade mode with all the assists off. All I can say is WOW!!! Like many have said, the PHYSICS are more realistic, the track surfaces really effect your handling. No longer can you blast full speed and expect not to lose control, especially in stock cars. SOUND is a definite improvement. Cars have more throat and growl, and sound placement is better as well. A 300% improvement over GT3! I'm only about 1% now with a 92' Evo Gsr and a Nismo 400r in the garage. Trying to complete license tests now to compete in Special conditions competition..... There's so much to say about this game, I could never express it all. So for now.... Happy racing to all!!! 👍 👍

In my opinion, Prologue stepped up the lift-off oversteer, weight shift, and FF physics significantly. In GT4 so far, in addition to those Prologue changes, I've noticed that they've really addressed the grip levels [more sensitive] which has taken away the point and shoot feel of GT3.

After reading threads on the "most realistic" tire choices... N2 being the closest based upon RL lap times. I put those on my CRX, and I floundered around the track. I had to use the Medium slicks that the game provides when purchasing. I like to consider myself a veteran of the series, but there is still much to learn with this newest version.

I wont have my copy till Monday.

Did they remove the aggravatin automatic replay after the race?

I cant wait to play with the 69' Z28 and the 87' GNX! Are they buyable right off the bat, or will I have to wait for them to cycle through the used car lot I have been reading about?

you know what sucks? the fact, that US version is 50$ and our will be 85$ and you have in average 2-3 times bigger salaries....

Copy that.

With import costs and everything else, its like I paid 250 dollars for my copy.

You earn 1000 Dollars, I earn 1000 Reais
But: R$2.61 = US$1.00

My overall rating is probably 4.5 out of 5. Love the new graphics. The courses look absolutely amazing. The driving does take some getting used to. Photo mode is almost overwhelming. You could spend hours on one picture. Awesome! I think there a little too many cars in the game that dont really impact it, but all you have to do is not buy or drive them. I played about 7 hours last night and im about 7% in. All in all, I think it was worth the wait.

Has anyone noticed that this game is nearly impossible to drive with the DS2. I've been practicing for two days now.

Can't stand the load time.....Can't stand the impeller fan noise on the slim...Decline in graphix......Decline in AI...It's on PS2..And I waited soooooo long for this.....Makes me kind of not want to game anymore if this is what a year and a half wait gives me..

Sounds like you accidently inserted the GT1 disc

It's tough, but I'm getting the hang of it.

Just driving around track is easy enough with the sticks in GT4. But the true test is golding the licenses. It takes a very gentle and accurate hand on the sticks to avoid overcontrolling, which GT4 seems to punish much more than GT3 did.

Brake earlier and be smoother, and it will start to feel like it works. Even so, I guess I'm going to have to buy a DF Pro, which is going to bug me since I have an almost-unused MOMO already, but it doesn't work with GT4.

how can you say the graphics got worse? really?

The immediate surroundings got a much needed improvment..people are right on that....
But the jaggies on the car are 3-4 times as abundant....On GT3 the jag's were larger...but it's like using Lego's...You either build something out of the 6 pegged bricks or you build something out of the 2 pegged bricks....One is going to have about 3 times as many right angels as the other.......
And the whole background being nothing more than a HUGE still picture......Don't like it...

--edit-..
but then again..You ARE dealing with the limitations of a Ps2...so...it gets an "Eh" rating from me..

Cool cheers mate :)

Now i need to make a choice on whether to import or wait!

I just got the the game yesterday and WOW this game ROCKS! & I also (like some of you) refuse to transfer any of the money or lisences over to GT4. In my oponion it's more of a challange not doing this.

I only have two problems with this game,
1. Why aren't you able to buy all the cars, so why the hell would they put them in the dealerships, is this torture or what!. I personally think that's dumb.

2. When switching to racing(1080i) from the menu it doesn't do much flickering, but when you leaving the racing and go back to the menu my screen goes all weird and flickers yellow and orange colors for a few seconds which is really stupid. (don't know if this is good for my TV or not).

Overall this game is the BOMB!, I spent hours and hours on Photo mode and that's with just 3 cars.

Here are some pictures of some of my first cars that I started off with,
I uploaded them to Image Shack, here are the links: sorry for the crappy pictures still getting use to Photo mode. Still don't know what everthing does.

MR2 this was my first car:

SRT-4 this was my second car.

Mazda 6 I won this car.

The sound is much improved on my surround, for one. The graphics are substantially nicer, and I enjoy all of the new tracks - and the return of some old ones. The comeback of the immense car selection is nice, as is the change from the GT3 menu. I'm not too keen with the save game. The actually driving is good, but for the most part, the fact that it is new, fresh, and there is a lot to do is enough to get me. Overall, I have to say I am pleased on Day 2.

I spent a long time trying to decide what was more obnoxious, your avatar or your post. I've finally decided it's definitely your post.

-10 points for whining.
-5 points for incorrect use of "impeller"
-1 point for redundant use of "fan"
-5 points for complaining about the noise of your PS2 which is irrelevant to GT4
-4 points for gratuitous use of ellipsis
-8 points for blatantly false statements about inferior graphics to GT3
-5 points for claiming inferior AI when it simply can't get worse than GT3
-15 points for poorly photoshopped spastic avatar that has actually made a hot chick hard to look at

47% = F

Please see me after class.

It's definitely harder than GT3 with the DS2, but I still think the licenses are easier with the DS2. The key to the license is usually going from full-acceleration to full-brake to full-acceleration at the exact right time, which is a lot easier with your thumb than your foot.

Then again, if you can configure the wheel buttons to act as accel/brake maybe I'll dig my DFP back out.

Pssh - driving with the DS2 isn't hard.

Now .. driving with the DFP would be insane in my opinion .. especially in 900 mode.

Wow, can't wait for PAL-land version!

At car dealer's, is there a proper block of text displaying info about the car (like in GT1/2) or is it that terrible scroller at the bottom of the screen as in GT3? Lots of interesting info in scrolling form is really a pain.

Pal is gonna be a waste of money if you already have GT4, its just 12 more cars....
