Using Wheel with a clutch makes you faster?!

I don't use a wheel ever. On my PS3 I use a DS3, as it is a PS3. If I want a wheel, I'll drive a real car.

For the most part. I love my DFGT.

Anyone try this on any other wheels? I to remember the wheel being a slower input. I have the GT driving force. So I plan on testing that later tonight.

In my opinion I really can't imagine the wheel being an advantage online. There's just to much going on with the wheel compared to someone using a ds3.

Maybe if you remap all the buttons so your only using the wheel.

I know this doesn't work on a DFGT because it has no clutch.

Im also no sure how important the use of the clutch at launch is, as doing a run just using the paddle shifters from full throttle black screen launch I was able to get it to run 9.881 - 9.888 and with a DS3 doing a full throttle black screen launch gets me a time around 9.907

It might be. I'm not to sure if Maccer is getting at saying the clutch comes into play for shifting.

It's the same thing to me. Sometimes I use my g27 and my times are faster with clutch.

So.. this ruins everything just like everything else kinda? Also might explain T51? Good work Maccer.

So what makes the big difference? Getting the perfect rpm launch from using the clutch or having faster gear shifts or both or what?

Well it seems so, using my G25 wheel, having it in H pattern mode kept in 1st gear keeping the clutch pressed in and releasing it at the same time as I press the throttle down for a timed RPM launch then shifting through the rest of the gears using the paddles I was able to get my RX-7 Spirit R to run this time.

No E-cheat was used
No SRF detune was used
No brake tricks was used

I don't have a video, just pictures of what I was able to get my RX-7 to run, this is the only car I have testing it so far. If you have a wheel with a clutch I'd recomend trying this yourself, If you don't will just have to take my word for it.

Now I belive this is the "trick" T51R has been using to get some record braking times.
Now it's upto you as the comminity to decide is this "legit" in my opinion yes it is, real cars have a clutch. I see no way this could be labled as a cheat other than the fact it gives a dissadvantage to DS3 controller only users as there is no way this can be replicated with them.

Discuss your opinions on this find please.

Yeah, you're using a real life launch.. They have work but better on GT5. Keep the rpm around the peak torque figure 👍

Awwe, just got to be better huh? Are you mad? Can you afford it?

and let the next battle begin and close another thread!! knock it off already. we know you want the record for most wars started but seriously take it to pms.

Here is a whole bunch of cars I tested this morning using my G25 wheel. Just to make sure it wasn't a fluke and would work on several cars.
(side note: the Force Feedback part of my wheel just died :( so my steering wheel no longer works, just the peddles, shifter, paddles and buttons, turn the wheel and nothing happens :(:( no more drifting for me now)

If I figure out how to get my spec V '09 to run a 9.022 with the DS3 a 8.99X time is certainly possible with the wheel, currently I can only get mine to run 9.030 with the DS3 with perfect launch and shifts.

Interesting results. I'll still stick to my DFGT, till tax time:p Bummer your wheel gave out:ouch: Sure it didnt come unplugged? I have that problem all the time when my kid and or dog, go messing behind my desk and hit a wire.

Yeah double checked it's all pluged in, I think it might be the AC adapter that has stoped working as it's not getting warm and has been pluged in for a while now.

Edit: It was the AC adapter that failed, just used one from a laptop pluged into my G25 and I have steering again :D happy days.

Yeah mine been on for 20 minutes and is warm. Hopefully its just a small problem like that.

This is the most I can get out of the spec V 09, I don't think an 8.99X time is possible with the wheel+clutch.

There is a different way to tune. Not saying much else but you need to optimise it.

+1
I'm not spending 150 pound for better times lol, dout ill be playing this game much longer

Haha, I bought my wheel for drifting, drag racing is such a simple sport with no need for it, what's so hard about driving in a straight line really.

Better shifting on the ACR using wheel & clutch shaved 0.010 off still the same tune that runs a 8.992 with DS3 retro launched.

Wish you would have been up front about it like Maccer instead of trying to pass yourself off as some tuning God, you would have earned some respect. Your actually probably a damn good tuner nonetheless...but now without respect.

Plenty more than just driving in a straight line...

I only care about the respect when it's someone who deserves it. I'm not a tuning god mate, i'm a gaming god. If only you knew the amount of things me and my friends have discovered on so many games. Besides, it's not I like I care about the big dogs here, as I know my next move will destroy them, releasing my tunes that match or better the current top times using your methods.

Nice job Maccer, I wonder how much more can be got with what I know.

Getting a good tune might be hard, running it is not. EG: i gave half a dozen tunes to one person the day they got GT5, they have beaten everyone with them online with fair ghosts.
