Not much on the car... did you buy it new?
Brand spakin new. But it was on the lot so I just took it. Also I surprised my accident didn't get on the report.

MrktMkr1986How recent was the accident? Are you OK? Major/minor? Depends on whether or not the police took the time to write up the report (among other things).
menglanReally?? Creepy.... How did a car from the first shipment end up in Kansas?
My guess would be that menglan bought the car used. Cars get moved from state to state, sometimes. I don't believe it's that uncommon.M5PowerThere's a zillion ways - first, I'd like to see the VIN ran through CarFax to make sure it originated in Kansas. Since Lexus was still a startup brand in 1992, maybe they just randomly distributed SC300s out to dealers when they came across. Or maybe they didn't ship in order. Or maybe Kansas has a very large Lexus dealer worthy of one of the first few SC300s. Lots of possibilities!
M5PowerThe surprising thing to me is not that you have a 1992 SC300, but the last seven digits - serial 0001041. Yours is among the first thousand SC300s built for sale - ever - and probably was among the first shipment or two. Interesting find.
pupikExactly; the first 1000 or so almost never wind up in the US. It's extremely rare to see a Lexus with a VIN under 1000.

M5PowerI don't know if that's right in this case though - I think the US debuted the SC300 wearing a Lexus badge to the world; I don't think other Lexus markets (Europe) got the car until a few years later. Don't hold me to that though.
menglanWAsn't it the Soarer in Japan and the rest of the World?
I'm pretty sure Toyota sold the car, only as Soarer in Japan. I do remember seeing back-imported Lexus LS400 in Japanese magazines though.M5PowerYeah, but unlike Acura, Lexus sees application outside of the United States. So Japan got the Toyota Soarer and possibly the Lexus SC as well, and I believe Europe got just the Lexus. BUT only the Lexus VIN begins with JT8, so the Soarer won't be included in the serial numbers.

DougI bet it's not originally from Kansas. Everyone thought the origin of the VIN I posted was Boulder, Colorado - turns out it's Henderson, Nevada, then Irving, Texas. That does happen constantly - fleet auctions send cars everywhere.
JoeyTwo years ago, I was banged up but I didn't need to go the the hospital. The truck suffered a few thousand in damage, and pretty much owned the passanger side of my truck. The whole thing with the police was a hassle, I got a ticket for something that wasn't my fault and I had to fight it. Ended up winning though.
menglanThanks!
the 1998 is when My mom bought the car, and the 2003 is when my dad re-titled it after buying it from my mom.
It currently has 168,xxx miles on it.
M5PowerJapan got the Toyota Soarer and possibly the Lexus SC as well
