Then it will be very hard. I just recommend lots of practice and maybe go slow and slowly get faster as you get used to it.
I am using a controller as well and after 20 to 30 tries without even completing the laps I just gave up so you are going to need a lot of patience.

Also good luck 👍

I'm just a mediocre driver but nurburgring is very doable especially with the lower times but Suzuka is going to take a lot of practice to make 2 clean laps. Make sure SRF is on and abs is at 1, everything else off

This is what I did. After the new patch I went and did all three last night to get bronze with my DS3. Just do two clean laps and you should finish just ahead of bronze. Practice practice practice. I know it's harder said than done but with the new bronze times just taking your time to get two clean laps will help instead of trying to go balls to the wall.

I was in the same situation as you. Firstly, if you'rebusing a controller you realisitcaly can't aim higher than bronze. My advice is do what i did. Give up on the challenge and try and get yourself an X2010 another way. And get used to it. Learn what settings you like, eg i like traction and abs at 2 along with srf. And not coz im a noob just coz it makes it more fun to actually drive properly :p
Then jist drive everywhere in it, learn how they react to things. Then you'll do whaf i did, get to suzuka and just do ot as if it was a race against the AI. My laps were apauling but they counted and you can do it.

My advice? Just practice and dont give up. After 1.06 this challenge is very do-able at bronze :)

With regards to Monza you can make up loads of time at the second chicane if you cut it.
Its possible to carry lots of speed in 3rd gear if you get it right. Also the Ascari section (turn 7) has some run off area both into and exiting which can help. Keep at it :)

I eventually turned TCS and SRF off - and then managed to bronze all 3 using a DS3.

Thing is, it's all about clean lines and smooth driving. With TCS and SRF on, it can tend to make you lazy and drive a lot more ragged.

Plus, I've never been entirely convinced that the driving aids make any difference at all to the X2010: I'd go so far as to say that car has them all built in.

Increasing the controller sensitivity is definitely a help though, particularly for Suzuka.

My other tip would be to use L1 or R1 as your brake, rather than the analogue switches.

This because microseconds really count when driving the X2010, and getting on and off the brakes rapidly is a definite plus.

Even with ABS switched off, I never get lock-ups on the X2010 using an on/off brake. Like I said, ABS seems to built into the thing.

Monza is easiest, Suzuka is near impossible to gold..

My times were like:
Nurb: 2:07.7
Monza: 2:02.8
Suzuka: 2:09.94x

Then it will be very hard. I just recommend lots of practice and maybe go slow and slowly get faster as you get used to it.

Man i just got my g27 this week , i was trying to beat the vettel challenge for like a week trying very hard, ( before the patch ) and i only could get bronze on monza , and could't even do one lap in suzuka in a decent pace , so i bought the g27 , and im 5 minutes i golded it all ...

If the wheel your car turns much more , the controller dont alow you to turn that much , and as fast , plus the pedals help alot , i suggest you get a wheel bored from a friend and beat the challenge , bcuz using a wheel is a piece of cake ...

Otherwise is just to hard

Keep trying, driving really clean and breaking at the really last moment (try out the limits a few times). And keeping the throttle down how much you can.

As en example, you can do the 2nd Lesmo turn in Monza just breaking a short instance and pressing again the throttle while steering the DS3 at the maximum.

And yes, in Monza cut everywhere you can, 2nd chicane and Variante Ascari. If you have the ideal route on, you'll notice that you can brake quite a lot after the line become red.

Good luck!

I wouldn't be surprised if this turns out to be another thread setup by desperate player begging for help on Suzuka, but no!

Monza is the easiest of them all, I'm shocked!!! :scared:

Monza = Easy

Nurburgring = Avarage / Medium

Suzuka = Hard / Extra Hard / Ultra Hard / Insane

I have no goal other than Bronze really because I need more finite control over the car than the controller gives. I gave this a shot last night.

1) Monza = Cake. I have been doing this in the PDF1 a lot so it wasnt much of an adjustment.

2) Nurb = a bit harder. I had to "have faith" on some corner to not man handle the car and let it go through the corner fairly neutral. Once I learned that I picked up quite a few seconds and beat the bronze with 2:18.

3) Suz = much harder. I knew I was in for a practice session when I couldnt make the second corner in third. I realized speed was key and keeping on the throttle as much as possible. At least for me.

I have not complete Suz as I ran out of time but I also adjusted my steering sensitivity up to 2 and found it much more "snappy".

Now that PD has added steering sensitivity, the Controller is as competitive as the wheel. I golded all of the Vettel challenges. Two I got before the update, Suzuka I got after (though I had silver on it prior). With Steering sensitivity at 7, I was cranking out lap times that were a lot faster than many of the wheel user vids I had seen. Since you can get full steering into a corner and you don't have to put in all the effort that a wheel user does (a flick of the fingers vs. fighting force feedback and using your whole body to drive), I'd say it's probably easier in fact.

Isn't there a downside to having full steering sensitivity on the X2010?

That's a matter of what you like or comfort you might say. I still think it's easier to use the wheel, even though I'm a DS3 user, because it gives you more control than a controller. FFB is not a negative thing at all as you make it sound like :) FFB adds some feeling of the car, making it easier to be precise through the corners IMO.

it's so hard to be patient... i've been holding off all F1 and Vettel stuff until i can get a G27. so i'm sitting at level 30 just waiting, waiting... :irked:

i was gonna change up the new sensitivity settings, but then i'm missing some of the challenge and fun of the game. so i'm just waiting...

The Vettel challenge was impossible for me before the update, even though I use a Fanatec GT2 wheel and Fanatec Clubsport pedals. I got within a second of bronze at Monza, but that was only after hours of practice. I was nowhere close to bronze at Nurburgring and I did not even try Suzuka out of fear. I had basically given up on it and then PD adjusted the bronze times. I tried it out on Saturday morning and after an hour or so, I had bronzes in each of the three events by 1-2 seconds. The challenges were not easy, even Monza, but they also were not overly hard, with the adjustments.

PD generally does a good job of making bronze attainable in the special events and license tests, with gold and silver being reserved for the hardy folks that practice, practice, practice. The original Vettel challenge was not consistent with this practice, but they fixed that with the update. There is no reason to make bronze unnecessarily hard. The hardcore folks can shoot for the silver and gold. I will settle for bronze, although I do anticipate trying for silver and maybe even gold in the future, just for kicks.

By the way, the prize for the bronzes is awesome. The X1 is a great car, even though it is fictional. I now have two of them, since I also got Level 35 in bspec over the weekend.
