Good luck bro, keep that F&F stuff low tho, thanks. 👍

Congrats on getting your license Acidman!

OK, Not to belittle the accomplishment, but after reading the note about the Cat and mouse, and it being fun, I'm going to open teh betting pool and start asking when we think Acidman will have his first accident. can we place points on how much damage? say 50:1 on a full wreck, and 3:1 on a fender bender?

In all seriousness, Acidman driving is not a right, it is a priveledge. Respect that car, as you would a loaded pistol. The red light you decide to run, may be my green light.

I will note, a bit of congratulations on getting your license. It is not a small accomplishment.

Good luck.

Acidman please don't drive like me...thats all we need is another kid like me driving the streets of the world. Trust me you'll hate getting in to your first wreck, even if its not your fault you'll still hate it.

I remember my first accident when a Dakota ran over my Civic...that sounds funny....but in all reality it sucked since my car was totaled that I put a ton of money into and I was outta a car for a while. I was stuck driving a PT Crusier.

Even though I'm the last person who should be giving safe driving advice I'm going to cause I know first hand about bad driving. So use your head when your driving , don't do anything stupid, and so people that you don't drive like a lot of teenagers and for god sakes you don't drive like me.

Please be safe and if you get a ticket of acciedent you will hate it I promise you that.

Congrats. It's definitely a milestone.

But to repeat what Der Alta said... Don't be stupid and dagerous, though. Or you could be like me and have that privelidge taken away very soon. Driving is not a new level of play. Cars are very expensive to fix. Fines are very expensive. So are lawyers. Not to mention insurance.

Ease up on that stuff, cowboy. Yes, getting your license is second only to losing your virginity in the "wooHOO!" factor, but you need to understand just how much you don't know about driving yet. There are dozens of unconcious little routine habits you need to pick up before the simple act of going around the block is natural enough to let your attention move on to something like playing car games with friends.

Add to that the randomness factor, and you'll see that driving in traffic is a lesser version of combat: you need to know that your instinctive reactions are going to be the right ones, since accidents (like ambushes) always come as a surprise. It takes time to develop those instincts, so try to avoid surprises as much as you possibly can.

That being said, congratulations!

Heh, Congrats.

Make sure your first car is one that doesnt have too much sentimental value, because you will smash it.

Anyways, have fun:)

That's an encouraging statement. 👎

Positive or not, it's true. Why do you think males under age 26 are so expensive to insure?

A friend of mine was adding his 16-year-old son to his regular car insurance. Just for grins, they told the agent to find out how much it would cost if the car was a Viper.

$679.00.

A month.

I used to pay, back in 1989, for a new* Ford Ranger, $250.00 a month. And that was with a good student discount on my parents policy. Crazy. Now I pay about that for two new cars for two months. I wonder what I'd pay now if I was still eighteen.

*new: still making payments

As Milefile stated, its true. Every single one of my friends got into some sort of traffic altercation within 6 months to a year of getting their license.

Wasn't there just some article that said the females in the same age group are catching up to males?
