Cam Mconville has always bled like a stabbed pig toward the Holden teams, I was surprised to see how people got points penalties and who didn't, considering any team who has had him for anything more then an endurance driver has basically carried him, unless there has been any result other then the win he had at Winton, otherwise I think his best result was 7th in one of those horrid crash fest events,

In saying, I'm surprised to see Brighty get a penalty, also surprised to see HRT get a penalty, specially something so harsh, bumping happens in touring cars, its that kind of close racing people want to see, but yes a line needs to be drawn,
Surprise results from what was a really boring event in V8SC,

Tony D'Alberto confirms Nick Percat for enduro's
Nick Percat will co-drive Tony D’Alberto Racing’s Team Hiflex Holden in this year’s V8 Supercars endurance races.
Percat has spent the past two years co-driving alongside Garth Tander at the Holden Racing Team, and moves into the Walkinshaw customer team in the same year he has stepped out of the Dunlop Series and into the Carrera Cup.

I think Percat will be driving the Supercheap car next year.

I'd love to see Percat in the Supercheap seat next year as well, I think he would be the perfect replacement for Ingall. 👍

Percat no longer has any connection to Walkinshaw.

I have heard that Tekno tried to get him for the seat currently taken by van Gisbergen, but HRT wanted a lot of control over his career, which Tekno wasn't willing to give up, because it would give HRT the ability to influence them. Tekno ended the negotiations and Percat felt that HRT had cost him a seat, so they parted ways over it.

Except that he is still contracted to Walkinshaw. Regardless this sounds very similar to the situation that caused Craig Lowndes to split with Walkinshaw back in 2000.

What happened with Lowndes and Walkinshaw back in they day? I'm one if the younger supporters so I'm clueless but curious about it.

Quite simply Craig had been part of HRT ( which was owned by Tom Walkinshaw at the time ) since 1994. During this time period his career was heavily controlled by Tom, but by 2000 Craig wanted to have control of his career for himself. Tom did not take this very well since it was his team that had given Craig his first V8 Supercar drive, championship wins, and a drive in F3000 ( alongside Juan Pablo Montoya ) so the resulting split was very messy. Not to mention he then went to drive for Gibson Motorsport who were racing Fords.

I was under that impression. Whether he is or isn't contracted is kind of a moot point considering his contract ends this year anyway.

Yep. Craig had signed a 10 year contract with Walkinshaw (not sure when) and was barely half way, if even at the start, of the contract.

According to Craig the team started testing etc without his knowledge. It was partly due to Craig living in QLD and the team based in VIC. Craig and Walkinshaw negotiated an early release and the rest is history!

Anyone know if us international watchers will be able to see the race this weekend? V8SC isn't streaming it on their site.

Thanks for the reminder! I forgot about it honestly but guess their streaming deal is on hold.

I wouldn't say it's on hold, they just don't seem to be doing it since it's not a points paying race.

They're probably not streaming the race because Channel 10 (as opposed to Channel 7 who broadcast the V8 Supercar Series) might own the rights to broadcast this event alongside their Formula One coverage.

Might be worth checking the Ten website at around the time of the races, but at the moment they are only promoting live streams for the F1 sessions.

Channel 10 tend to region lock their live streams though, so don't get your hopes up.

Hopefully the bugs are worked out of most cars and 2 months almost til Texas! I can't wait

How long you put that off?! We got everything booked but I hope their are some diecast and stuff too.

For a while. I didn't expect them to sell out so put it off for a while. Will book the hotel closer to the event date. Eddie (Wardez) and I will be sharing a rental car. He'll drive from Vegas, swing by and pick me up, and then we'll head to Austin. 👍

Our hotel went from 70 bucks a night to 150 the next week after we got the room.

How much would it take for a Craig Lowndes autographed "hero card" guys? ;)

If I can get one, I'll send it to you for free.

I just did a quick search and found quite a few for around 70-80 bucks. We'll be there for 4 nights though. I don't need a super nice hotel, but as close to a 3-star as we can get is appreciated.

I just wanted something fairly decent after long days at the track and traveling, but we are staying in Round Rock too.

Wilson Security to feature on both DJR Falcon's at AGP
Dick Johnson Racing’s two Falcons will feature identical liveries for the non-championship MSS Security Challenge at Albert Park in Melbourne this weekend.
The change will see both the Falcons of Jonny Reid and Tim Blanchard run Wilson Security branding with the #17 of Blanchard switching from the signage of sister company ADVAM it ran at the Clipsal 500 recently.

Also, Tom didn't want craig to go well in F3000, influenced the team to focus more on JP Montoya thus causing Lowndes not to do so well, Had Craig done well in F3000 we probably would have seen him in F1, But seeing as Tom virtually financed Craig's run in F3000 JP Montoya's monies would also influence every team member to focus on him,

Similar deal with Jason Bright and his Indy Lights drive,

Couple of interesting things.

The Nissan and Merc engines produce less torque than both the Ford and Holden engines so the way the gearbox and diff ratios are set up for favour the increased torque of the push rod engines, but both Holden and Ford are looking at switching to quad cam engines if the Nissan and Merc engines become more competitive.

Also the rules state the cars must the exact same bonnet, boot lid and roof as the road car. Holden with the VF as changed these items to aluminum therefore lowering the centre of gravity, this input which was from 888 along with the aero kit again developed by 888 from thier Ford experience as the Falcon was known to have a superior aerodynamic advantage.

Should also say 888 had more input than any of the other teams in relation to the cotf rules.

This is all interesting insight. Especially the underlined part.
In all honesty though it seems the Quad cam engines are struggling, not sure if it's lack of development or the regulations in place.
The Kellys said their Nissans corner great but lose the bulk of time on the straightaways.
