Walkinshaw considers fourth car.
Walkinshaw Racing has revealed it is considering an expansion to four cars in 2014.

The move by the owner of the Holden Racing Team and Supercheap Auto Racing is considered a long-shot to succeed, but is being examined as a way to keep Nick Percat within the organisation.

“I don’t rule it out but it’s slim at the moment because finding the money is tough,” Walkinshaw Racing owner Ryan Walkinshaw told v8supercars.com.au.

“We would only do it if we think we can do it as a business and we can give Nick a car he can go and win races in. It’s got to be good for both of us really.”

Percat, who won Bathurst in 2011 with Garth Tander in an HRT Commodore, has a driving contract with Walkinshaw Racing that expires at the end of 2013.

The 25-year old missed out on the Supercheap Auto Racing drive for 2014, with Tim Slade moving from Erebus Motorsport to take over the seat from Russell Ingall.

He finished fourth in the 2012 Dunlop Series in a Walkinshaw Racing Holden Commodore with support from long-term backer Coates Hire.

In 2013 he and Coates Hire moved to the Porsche Carrera Cup and Team BRM. He runs third in the points leading into this weekend’s final round on the Gold Coast.

There has been speculation linking Percat with a number of drives along the V8 Supercars pitlane, but clearly there is a desire within the Walkinshaw organisation to retain the South Australian if it can.

If RBRA, WR, EREBUS add cars, that's 32. V8SC should increase the max to 40. There would be room for Chrysler, Audi and BMW 👍

Chaz Mostert confirmed to move to FPR for 2014.

Good stuff. Finally Chaz will have the money to get a better fitting racing suit.

WILL DAVISON'S RESPONSE TO MOSTERT MOVE
http://www.speedcafe.com/2013/10/24/davison-everyone-will-understand-decision/

In a note on his website, Davison wrote that his decision to leave FPR will make sense once his new program is made public.“Today I can confirm that I have made the decision to leave Ford Performance Racing (FPR) at the end of this season,” he said.“While I cannot yet share details of my plans for 2014 and beyond, please be assured I will continue to be involved with V8 Supercar racing at the highest level and am very excited about what the future holds.“I’m obligated to not talk about the new program at this stage but I am sure everyone will understand my decision once the details emerge.

Feel a little sorry for DJR, but it was always going to happen sooner or later. I suppose that opens the door for Steven Johnson to return to full time driving next year.

Wasn't Chaz on loan to DJR from FPR anyway? Either way I think he's one to look out for in the future, especially in a team as strong as FPR.

Either him or Ash Walsh.

Correct! Just an FPR loan so he could get some main game seat time.
Good batch of rookies coming through at the moment. Beginning of change.

What's more will be interesting is, who will sit in the Volvo's at next years enduros.

Forgot about him, good point. 👍

Interesting indeed, Perkins and Ritter would be the obvious guess. But then again, Volvo might want to bring one their factory drivers over.

We will have to wait and find out but would be great to see what the Volvo factory drivers are like against our big guns, they would show a thing or two about how good Volvo actually is these days. Then all the main drivers will show them why v8 supercars is the best show on wheels on Earth, I think that's what the saying is from memory, haven't watched it since they took it off free to air tv here lol.

Has this actually been announced?

Regarding Erebus, Hasn't Tim Slade (HHA #47) signed with one of the Queensland Holden teams for next year? leaving it at 3 cars?

Regarding Mostert, He really should have been bumped into a co-drivers seat last year, he has natural ability,

Not Officially but, says in about 18months time. Cox seems serious about their driver exchange program and getting their works drivers from GT Academy in V8s. He mentioned earlier in the year, if the cars are going well, he'd add more Altimas to the grid. May be a good option for some teams to jump on this bandwagon in the near future(to secure their future; thats if V8SC Commision dont mess things up).

Slade is with Walikinshaw(HRT) in the Super Cheap Auto ex-Russell Ingall car.

For Mostert to jump in the undergog DJR ride and get a win, boosted his cred just like McLaughlins. I think this was great for people to see what he can do in his own car.

Steven Johnson seems comfortable in the car. We'll see real pace tomorrow. The Altimas should fair good here. Lets see if the E63 and Altima can both finish top 10 the whole weekend.

Yeah, like Winton I think the GC track really plays to the Altima's strengths handling wise. I expect them to have a good run over the the weekend.

Me thinks it's time to trim down that curb.

Speed has a live blog on the couriermail site too. 👍

And a picture of the damage sustained by Whincup on Instagram.

Encouraged by the pace of both HRT cars. Great to see two of the Altima's, (Rick) Kelly and Caruso make the top ten shootout and D'Alberto as well. 👍
