In my opinion, I like these concept cars idea. The cars are so unique in many ways. Also, I have to give props to these car manufactures to come up with all these visually stunning models and the best part of is I can test drive them :D Going to so many car shows and seeing the concept car in person, tons of car enthusiasts pay a lot of attention to appreciate the beauty of the beast and PD gives us the chance to appreciate it even more in the game.

I do also agree that they should focus in improving the game in other area such as sound, additional features and what not. Hey but the concept car idea is pretty creative and neat so I would like to see more coming :)

I totally agree that
sound, additional features and what not
are really important.

However, I doubt that moving people off the Vision GT Project would help (as others have suggested, not you @FSportIS!), since they are not sound engineers or programming people who create those cars. Clearly the sound engineering for the Vision cars is done by the manufacturers as is mentioned in the video material.

I think it's highly likely that the manufacturers are provided with the file specifications used by GT, such that Polyphony's effort is mostly one of integration. There would be no point in having the manufacturers provide an incompatible file format and force PD into a labor-intensive conversion.

Either that, or PD has the capability to ingest standard CAD-type files and has an automated method of converting them into GT6 standards.

Either way, the PD labor involved would be proportionally lower.

Which brings me to my next ...
Vision car manufacturers will have gained sufficient experience with providing car model specs that future cars may well be incorporated a whole lot faster than in the past, since they may not need to be physically laser-scanned.

It may be possible to incorporate new cars as soon as the camo wraps are removed.

It takes PD 6 months work to model 1 car, & Kaz only wants PD staff modelling cars, you do the math.

👍
So far, only 1 VGT has an interior. I'd say that taking the interior out of the equation eliminates at least 50% of that time.
The concept cars that actually exist are appealing to me. These VGT cars do not exist as far as I know.
The Mercedes VGT, Aston DP VGT, Nissan 2020 VGT, and likely others in the future, all have real life concepts made.

Not all concepts work obviously. But then, that's how things usually are in the automotive world. Not all concepts we see in the game which are based off of real life concepts actually worked in the real world.

I suppose at the moment because of the various missing game features (course maker, community etc.) there is a sense of disappointment when after each large game update it's usually a case of oh, it's "only" another VGT car. If all the game features were complete and everyone was happy (it would take some doing I know), I'm sure more people would look upon the free (lets not forget that) VGT cars a little more favorably.

As others have said, closer ties with the vehicle manufactures can only benefit the franchise in the long run.

The BMW was a bit of a wasted opportunity though.
I agree. It's a good looking machine, but it just looks a bit plain against the other more futuristic offerings. Perhaps they didn't extend their Vision far enough. They might be kicking themselves after seeing the other VGT's being released.

Anyway, I like them if for no other reason than I get to be competitive in a Time Trial with a un-tuned car. :)

I love em all, well maybe except for the Mitsubishi, and the golf (). But otherwise they are great.

Oh and by the way, whats with the zero in VISI0N?

I usually set them all up for 600 pp race events to see how well they perform. They all are fun to drive and most of them are easy to tune.

Not at all. All but the Mercedes (mule for Route X grinding) have gone to the stockyard. Not having interiors is a deal breaker for me. Most of them look like Batmobiles on steroids.

I was indifferent towards it when VisionGT was announced and my sentiments haven't changed. Time and effort could've been spent elsewhere though. The Vision BMW was however a nice addition - probably because it didn't resemble a transatlantic cruise on four wheels.

Every Vision GT car is good, I'm just disappointed that the BMW Vision GT is the slowest Vision GT car despite the fact that it looks so good.

Believe it or not, I was very hyped about the VGT Project when it was first announced. At the time though I was under the mistaken assumption that it would all be part of a larger package featuring a course maker, community features, GPS track mapper and monthly track DLC. The VGT would be a great addition to the series as a small add-on type of thing, but it's nowhere near a big enough feature to carry the load for most GT fans the way it has had to this year. If we had most of the announced features we'd all be busy playing the game, and VGT would be an interesting sideshow, not the main attraction like it is now.

Not impressed. Considering there are manufacturers like McLaren producing these kind of cars for real it all seems a bit more fake and pointless than it already is. It's a vision of yesterday more like.

I did enjoy the 2 latest VGT seasonals though.

The door is open for Vision Cars to become real.
I would hope that after dumping as much time, money and resources into producing concept cars for a video game the manufacturers would at the very least base some of their future cars off these concepts.

Do you know if PD pays the car manufacturers for these concept design or the car manufacturers pay PD for advertisement or no one pays anyone?

I don't know but I do know looking at Project Cars numbers, the licensing cost for modeling cars and tracks is virtually nothing. On a budget of around $6Million they've modeled 70 cars and 40 tracks. Even if half the money is used for car and track licensing which is unlikely, it's only $30k/car or track.

Am I impressed? Absolutely. A small game developing team getting a bunch of large car manufacturers to design concept cars to be put into a game and then receive a bunch of publicity and free advertisement from car blogging sites like Jalopnik, Top Gear, Motor Authority, etc. it's definitely a big feat by them and I applaud at their accomplishment.

I like to look at them but don't drive them.

But I agree with ProjectWHaT:
