The version of the Nardo in the game was a preproduction prototype that VW put tons of miles on in order to test it for production, because before Piëch got the Veyron he was going to force VW to build it. For that reason it should handle relatively well.

The concept versions of the Nardo were the yellow and red ones that were in the first Test Drive Unlimited.

They never built it because they built the Veyron instead.

You say in the same post where you proceed to talk up the ZZ-II.

Not really. The Maccy, maybe. The ZZ-II? Doubtful. The Enzo? Absolutely not. Either of the Murcielagos?

Except it is fast, handles well and is relatively easy to drive.

You mean like the Pagani Zonda? The Ford GT?

At least the Nardo had the engine before Volkswagen detuned it in and put it in their other cars, rather than just modifying something they sourced from something else.

I've never seen someone dish out so much burn in one post. 👍

It's great fun to drive and as BMWM52012 said, after a proper tuning even the 650pp events are doable with it.

The Nardo handles quite well, and mine goes up to 397 km/h om La Sarthe (No chicanes). Yes, it is powered by a sedan engine. A 600 BHP, 6.0l W12 sedan engine.

It seems to be designed to go around in circles, as it holds some handful of records at the track is was named after, The Nardo Ring. Then it was never seen again... way to prove your super car building abilities, Volkwagen. I applaud you. It must've cost millions to design and build and then run it in a circle - wow.

Well, to be fair, it does do really well for a sub-600PP car at Daytona and Indy Speedway. Because of the additional downforce and lower center of gravity you can pull some really serious speeds around the corners without worrying about crashing.

While it isn't the best car for circuit racing due to the slowish steering and the sound(which is about the same as the 599, but with less character)it remains one of the best stock choices for tracks like Le Sarthe and the aforementioned oval tracks.

A high performance, 6L W12 (12 cylinder) engine can hardly be classified as a sedan engine.

Sounds awesome (GT5 wise, it's pretty similar to the 599 GTB's voice), looks nice. But it's a shame it's a standard, we miss out this interior!

This is way more interesting than sitting in a VW Golf IV GTI, especially at that seat position... :boggled:

Edit: Should've bothered to at least scroll through all pages. Sorry for the picture repost. :p

Some guy before hand was saying that it was powered by the Phaeton's engine , which is true. They just adjusted the tune, so yes, the Nardo's engine is not a sedan's engine.

So does this mean two Jettas make a sedan? Or is the Nardo two sedans?
It's a great car in all three configurations I have, totally exciting to drive, silky, slinky, and with a swagger that has to be held in sway . . . or else all hell breaks loose.
Nearly bought a fourth one recently, but decided to curb my OCD collecting habits.

Thought this might be of interest given the varying opinions on the Nardo:

VW Nardo Concept vs Bugatti Veyron @ Grand Valley Speedway - Stock parts, no tuning - Sports Hard Tyres - No SRF, ASM, Active Steering, TC. Nardo - 1'58.671 Veyron - 1'58.736

By comparison, the Enzo only managed 2'02.083 and the XJ220 2'03.493
