I'd like to have everything narrowed down to five at all times, but the problem is that wouldn't be fair to everyone. Thats why we have the preliminary thread with the nominations to get everyone's opinions, then we vote, then we get to vote on the top five (unless it is really spaced out between cars) and move on to the next country.

ahhhh to be fair, it was to be expected from the Japanese thread. YSSMAN couldn't just change the rules and drop some nominated cars.

Yeah... I guess its to be expected that some people will vote for a car just because they like it... I voted for the civic and just happen to own two... Thats not why I voted for it though.

I got to be honest, other then Hyundai I don't know any other Korean makers. If there are others that do though then go for it.

I don't know how the Bugatti is representing France, since it's not produced there. Ettore was born in Italy, as well, so I don't even know how you came to that conclusion. The Veyron is produced in Germany, much like it's predecessors in Molsheim. Of the 20 Bentley dealerships that are distributing the vehicles (besides the factory itself), NONE are in France.

YSSMAN, care to enlighten me on why this is? I'm not trying to be pushy, but nobody responded.

Okay, I put Bugatti in as a French company because it's roots were laid in France, not Germany, not Italy. Yes, I realise they are owned by Germans and built by Germans, but Bugatti nevertheless still remained a French company in my eyes.

...It would be just like the Fords produced in the UK. Although they are American by owner, they are designed and built in the UK, and this I call them British. The same can be said of the Aussie Fords as well...

Either way, that thread is done, so lets me on, shal we?

The rivalry in the US is insane. There are actually very few people on either side who respects the other and that's really sad because both imports and domestics have a lot to offer. Then of course there are people like me who bought a domestic sport compact and I get accepted by no one. lol I am the bastard child of the domestics and too domestic for the imports.

I think the real problem in America is that everyone wants to be a car guy but most are too stupid to educate themselves outside of what car they actually have. So they bash on everything not their own.

I voted Godzilla...the Z car (240 and 300...really should be one entry...may've voted for it instead had that been the case) is the honorable mention. The irony I find is that people are claiming that the Skyline hasn't had a huge world impact...if it hasn't had an impact on the world, then why is it getting votes? The truth is that it's had a much larger impact than people are giving it credit for.

Yssman earlier mentioned "how great" the R34 was supposed to be in World Challenge, but the exact opposite was to be expected. It's been a start-up year for the team and car, and they have a rookie driver. The R34 was the huge underdog going into this, because it has to go against the already proven Z06's, Vipers, and factory Caddy's (and factory Audi's had they participated)...with a restrictive rule-set, because it's the first R34 to race in World Challenge. On top of this, they've had a lengthy run of lousy luck (they've had stuff happen to their GTR that has never happened to a race GTR). Once they get the screws tightened, they'll easily have a top 10 car, which is no small accomplishment. If I recall, in one of the first races, they even ran as high as 10th place.

The fast and the furious and Gran Turismo. That's why it is getting so many votes. The younger generation thinks it is Gods gift to automobiles because of a movie and a video game. It's a great car yes, it's not however, one of the best, most significant, or important cars ever produced by Japan and the fact that it is getting so many votes is one big damn shame. It just shows how little a lot of people know about automotive history and importance.

I think the skyline should have alot of votes, but alot of kiddies are voting for them for the wrong reason. Given the power that the skyline has, its a bloody fast car, and it just has that certain aura and presence about it.

...And I'm going to completely agree with you. Thats the reason why the car gets on my nerves so often, too many kiddies liking it for all the wrong reasons. They have no idea what the car is other than the fact Paul Walker had one in 2F2F, and they can make it faster than a *insert car here* in GT.

Its a good car, and it deserves it's own place in the "kick-ass car hall-of-fame," but it isn't something that is going to overcome everything in the process.

...Although, it will be interesting to see how the next-gen GTR does once it comes out in 2008...

I've known the Skyline fore most of my life, before i've ever played a racing game, or seen Fast and the Furious, which just makes import cars look bad. I've loved the Skyline every since i layed my first eyes on one, If i remember correctly, it was a R33 GTR 95', which was a frickin fast car that year. But I think people here are just made cause people seem to like the car alot. I love pretty much all the cars listed, (except the few things) But I really don't care if i vote for somthing thats not going to win. I mean, I love the Impreza, and the Evo, and i think the 510, or the 240Z should be the ones that won. But I voted for the 300ZX cause, for the same reason Pink The Floyd would pick the Supra. And how you YSSMAN would pick the C6, over the other american cars. But another thing is, if your going to be comparing a older car (R34) to a brand new Vette (C6) it's like comparing the Kid, from the dad, the kid is going to be faster, cause they have lot more energy. And well you should get my point. There just faster.

Now I think we should stop acting like kids, and see, yeah it's a popularity vote here. Ok so what if the Skyline wins, you know that it's not a better car. So why try and change there mind? I mean if they don't want to, why be soo stuck up on why people thinking the way they do. It's not YOU that should care. It's a stupid online vote for crying out loud... You always seemm, that you HAVE to change the persons mind to what YOU think they should think. Your JUST like my grandma. You try to just manipulate there mind. I swear to god if the Skyline does win this I am going to just throw up. Yes I love Skylines but it is not the car to end all. It most certainly didn't have an impact on the automotive industry...just PlayStation teenage fanboys.

Just by going back and looking at the list, i did a new nods, anda few shakes.
And came to a conclusion. That if there were to be a top5 list this would be it.

Datson 510: Basically Datson/Nissans best race car of all time. Did very well in Le Mans winning (i belive) 2 of them. Which an't to shavy.

Datson 240Z, basically what made true Japanese sport cars. And the car still can move.

Honda Civic, pretty much the most reconisable car on the face of the earth, and one of the best selling ones. The EK Civic is probally one of the nicer FF cars out there.

Subaru Impreza, one of the best rally cars of today, and it can move around the track we etreme prescion with it's AWD.

Mazda MX-5, one of the most enjoyable rides out there on the market, small, fast, reliable, and manuverable, should be a top in it's class.

Talk all the **** you want, thats what I think made Japanese racing what it is.
But it is hard, cause there are some out there that could make this list also.
