Wasn't the Skyline the first turbo-powered Japanese production car? And wasn't it the first production all-wheel steering car?
Depends - what year did the Skyline debut that feature?

1985 for 4WS - making it the first production road car with 4WS.

That would make the Honda Prelude second in 1988 then?

Damnit all to hell!!!

Why didn't I nominate the Prelude? It is one of my favorite Japanese cars...

Nah - it won't. Let's gang up against it. Everyone cool with voting for the Miata in order to dethrone the Skyline?

Or go round to everyone who voted Skyline and poke them with sticks.

I'll also ram their house with a Cuore, then we'll see who votes for what.:irked:

I doubt it would knock over a tent, however.

If it makes everyone happy, sure I'll vote for the MX5, might actually get peaceful...... until the next round of best car.

=V8 Power=
Well even though I dislike imports, I had to vote for the Supra because I have seen many videos of them making over 1200 HP

That makes me want to cry. Hey some guy built a 1000hp Cobalt are you voting for that in the American thread?

Time_Attack
With as many cars has we have up we could go to top 10, then to top 5.
Sounds better, cause more of the cars that should be up there, would make it. Then I can change my vote to somthing that has got very little, the Datson 510, or the 240Z.

Why does that make you cry?

I couldn't find the american thread, but I wouldn't vote for the Cobalt because I can't even fit in the stupid thing. If theres a Monte Carlo then that gets my vote:)

How tall are you? I am 6'1 and I have tons of room.

I think we should stick to the original narrow it down to three format. No need to drag this on forever.

Edit: Oh your statement makes me cry because that is a horrible reason to pick a car in this thread. It's a very fanboy like reason actually. "the supra makes a bagillion horsepower blah blah blah". No offense but it's just a horrible reason.

6'4.5'' I can't fit in alot of cars. The one that really makes me mad is the Saturn Sky/Pontiac Solstice.

Edit: O I see that you drive a Cobalt SS.

If I continue down the top five path, this is what it would look like:

- Nissan Skyline (all generations, all variants)
- Mazda MX-5 Miata
- Honda/Acura NSX
- Subaru Impreza (all variants)
- Datsun 240Z

...That would leave out the Civic, Corolla, and Supra...

I'll wait an hour or two before doing the next thread, give ya'all some time to think about it. BTW: We're doing Korea next...

Korea doesnt make cars. They make things with four wheels and an engine.

You cant really leave the civic and the corola out of the fight... they certainly arent the fastest but they did lots for japanese cars.

I just realized no one nominated the Integra. Wow...

Is the cr-x counted under the civic banner?

Yes, the CRX was placed uner the Civic title...

Anyway, I've made my decision...

Depends - what year did the Skyline debut that feature?

I'm not exactly sure about the turbo engine...either 80 or 81, i think. If Famine says it was 85 for 4WS, then I'd go with that (I would've said 86...either way, the rest of the major Japanese manufacturers didn't use 4WS until at least a couple years later).

No way the Skyline wins over the 240Z, Civic, Supra, or just about anything else. Fanboyism makes me sick.

The supra is nothing special and the 240 is just a jag with a datsun badge...

Guess that just leaves the civic. :)

I stated my reasonn for voting Skyline, you don't like it Tuff luck, and why shouldn't someone vote for Skyline over the Supra? Skyline has been around much much longer than the Supra, it has more racing heratige, it used more technology than the Supra....

Not saying the Supra is bad at all, I think its great and I would love to own one sometime but for someone to say it makes them sick when people vote for Skyline over Supra is just silly.

Honestly I dont like the look of the mk4 supra at all. They're reliable as hell but just look like rubbish. I'm not really a fan of most skylines either although the R32 is great looking IMO.

I'm a bit surpised the lancer only got one vote. I know I've been trashing it but they're still not bad cars. I think most people forget about all the non-evo lancers like the older FR rally cars...

My lord, one of the guys in the local mitsu club (we rode with them on a track day) has an original Mitsubishi works RWD Lancer. It's an official rally car converted into a road car. 2000cc's (the road-going car has 1800) and a turbo. OZ wheels, rubber mudflaps... pure old school goodness.

Still voted for the Miata, though.
