As I said in the other thread, Golf/Jetta TDi wagon.

50+ mpg, 0-60 in 8.6 seconds, great shifting with the DSG, fun to drive, and super practical.

You can fit 4 adults comfortably (5 if one wants to ride bitch seat), fit any and all crap you need in the back, fold down the seats if you need more room, drive it angry and still get good mileage, and get impeccable mileage driving light footed.

I think one of the 911 variants will win, but it's a tad unfortunate. I get that the 911 is a fantastic driving machine, but the Golf Wagon is a real car, it's one you can take the family in, take all your crap in, and still have fun doing it. I think perhaps we need another competition to be more centred around "real" cars, because this is about what's the best car, not what's the best supercar. And I don't think a $200,000+ Porsche is the best car Germany has to offer. Best supercar? Sure. But best car? I'd have to disagree.

I will tip my hat to the M3. It also combines (relatively) low cost, good practicality (sedan), and obviously being fun to drive. It's probably what would get my second vote.

GT3RS 4.0

Although I've only seen short first drive reviews, how can it be anything other than almost perfect?

The 3.8 version is widely recongnised as the best drivers car currently on sale, so the 4.0, with another 50 bhp and extra trick suspension parts should be awesome.

Most likely the best 911 ever built... which makes it the best sports car ever built as far as I'm concerned.

I voted for the E90 BMW M3.

The reason? It's practical despite being a little small for a 4-door saloon, it has a good performance, great handling, not that costly to live with and you can drive it every single day for every single purpose. Drive it to your office, shopping, grocery or even a short drive every single weekdays and perhaps bring it for a trackday on weekend. It still delivers the needs of people.

Voted for Cayman.
For me, Porsche makes best cars. But 911s are began to being annoying (too much 911s were made). I'll be glad to have Cayman more than any other can in the list.

For a daily car I'd pick sedan from Honda or Chevrolet.

All the Porsche's on the list would be in my garage if I ever hit the Lotto jackpot (and a few more that aren't on there as well)...

EVO said in the last issue that, in their opinion, the Cayman R is the bets handling road car they have ever driven... so it's hardly a bad choice!

Nice, Only vote for R8 :)

M3 is nice but not my favorite one.

I know I nominated the R8, but I voted the Golf GTI. Why? Because it does everything. EVERYTHING. Good price, good performance, good practicality, not too bad emissions, enough space, great sound, great looks...the GTI is the king of hot hatches.

The diesel Jetta and Golf are cars for the times. Obviously the best cars coming from Germany right now.

My vote goes to the GT3 RS4.0.

Maybe it isn't the greatest thing to come out of Germany last year, maybe I'm voting for the flashy looks and big 4.0 badge on it, but there is one thing that sets this car apart and make it worthy of the best car award: It's ethos.

It's a pure driving machine ( well it's a GT3, it was designed to be like that ), it's the best 997 911 ( which automatically makes it better than all 996 models ) to me and on the top of that, it's a proper end for the 996 basic structure that was carried over (with big improvements) to the 997 models.

It's a redemption.

I agree. Nothing I've wanted to do with my GTI that I haven't been able to do. I just moved myself across the country, with all my stuff fitting and getting decent fuel mileage.

But I voted for the Jetta TDI. I think I voted for it just because it's the wild card among all the other green cars, and I like diesels much better than hybrids.

SLS All The Way!!!

I Can't Believe The Golf Wagon Has The Same Amount Of Votes As The SLS

Because somebody votes for cars of their dream, somebody votes for everyday cars.

PS: Every Word Is A Name?

Tough choice, but I went with the R8 5.2.
edit: The M3, GTi, and Porsche 4.0 were all very attractive though..

a) The rear biased 4WD system along with the old fashioned H box stick shift are signs that this car is about driving pleasure above all else

b) It doesn't make itself uncomfortable for the sake of being fast like too many supercars these days.

c) This thing is cool off the charts. My students rave about how cool it is. I'm yet to meet a single person who thinks that it's uncool. Whereas some people see Ferrari's and Lamborghini's as a bit overstated and showy and Porsche's as a bit understated and boring, this finds the perfect middle ground.

Tough choice indeed, but if I had to decide between the 911 GT3 RS 4.0 and the E90 M3, I would vote for the latter.
