Welcome to Version 1.7 and the moment many of you have been waiting for, VR has arrived to DiRT Rally 2.0!

Today’s update makes the virtual a reality with the release of DiRT Rally 2.0 on Oculus, and the addition of OpenVR support to the Steam version. Ever since VR was teased many months ago it’s been at the top of the community’s wishlist and now it’s here. This is the perfect time to revisit the game or jump in for the very first time. You can read more about the announcement in our press Release over on Codemasters.com, and you can buy the Oculus version here.

The Oculus version of DiRT Rally 2.0 also contains a set of exclusive Community Challenges, and exclusive liveries for 5 cars.

Also available in Version 1.7 today is a whole bunch of free content!

DirtFish has been added to DiRT Rally 2.0 as a Test Drive location, and with it come a bunch of new liveries. To access the location select [Garage] from the My Team main menu, and then [Vehicle Options] and [Test Drive].

VR related questions...

- The version on the Oculus store only lists Racing Wheel as a supported controller type. As a gamepad user (yes, really, in VR racing games!) - I assume the Oculus store version will work as usual with a pad?

- The Steam version only lists Index and Vive as supported headsets. What about Oculus? If I had bought the game on Steam in anticipation of it getting VR support, I'd be more than a bit hacked off if it didn't work on my Rift...

I'm hoping that both of these are just oversights when the game was submitted to the stores, but wanted to check.

Only recently I was thinking how fun the Dirtfish test area was in Dirt 4, glad to see it back in DR 2.0! Loving the new liveries too.

So to answer my own question, having had a bit of a look on Reddit and the Codemasters forum...

If you bought DR2.0 on Steam and have a Rift, the game runs like crap in VR.

People with 2080s reporting terrible stuttery performance. The version on the Oculus store is fine apparently. So if you bought the game on Steam with the expectation of playing on a Rift - you got shafted. You can either buy the game all over again on the Oculus store, or forget about playing in VR :banghead:

I was thinking about getting this once VR support was introduced, but won't be buying now. Really poor from Codemasters 👎 👎

Tried DirtFish. While the D4 ramps were a bit Arcady this version needs *some* mounds of dirt to test jumps. Also miss the water splashes, but this version looks better overall in comparison. It’s a welcome addition.

Agree. While it's still fun to mess around the area, I do wish there were more obstacles and jumps. Maybe even some cones to mimic some sort of course.

Not directly related, but this game (as well as Deluxe) is on sale on Steam at the moment. I'll be picking this up as Dirt Rally + Revive is not exactly a fun experience.

Can you refund it in time?

You can refund as long as you've played less than two hours from memory. I just didn't buy it at all once I found this stuff out - not a problem, I'm playing No Mans Sky in VR instead and absolutely loving it :)
