Aston Martin Vantage GT3

Primary Sponsor: K&N

After some thought, I've decided to get into "The Piranha Club".

#99 Phantom Motors Ferrari 488 GT3
Primary Sponsor: TBA
Tires: Pirelli
Driver 1: Andrew Draco (USA)
Driver 2: Jean-Claude Gabriel (CDN)

As I already have VRR commitments, I couldn't exactly go out and race a rival brand of car or tires now could I?
1) You aren't running a Black Rose effort.
2) IndyCar reverted to Firestone only again in 2017.
Pick tires you want.

As its been in every GT Series the team has been in, Team Racerworkz will be on Michelins.

If that is the case and I'm not tied down by other VRR series, I'm switching cars as well as tires if possible.

Only reason you're getting away with Stark Industries is because of the Marvel sponsorship of the other car. Smart.

Wouldn't have been much different than someone using Aperture Science and Valve for their cars. Or Vault Tec and Fallout, or so on so forth.

I thought about doing something like that with one car sponsored by Sega and the other running a Daytona USA sponsor, but alas I'm having trouble with getting the game run on my old, battered lap-top.

34 cars is the limit on the field, and the 35 currently registered come from 21 different GTP members. I will admit that I underestimated the interest there would be in this when I set the field limit and entry rules on the series, and now I am forced to kind of backpedal. I am considering moving the series back to one car per GTP member, because I know there are a few debating joining, and that will make the entry count climb even higher. Then there's the possibility of a different class being added as well. And that additional class would be filled based on the order people registered their entries, which isn't entirely based on when people posted on GTP. But I want everyone's opinion's on this. Should the entry rule be adjusted to make it one car per GTP member per class? And should the series remain GT3 only, or would something like a spec prototype class be welcomed? Please be vocal.

I know in @Suzumiya 's SGT series he only allows a certain number of dual entries, so maybe set a limit on that? Personally I like it as a GT3 only, but I'm all for prototypes 👍

I would make it so that only a few teams can get waivers to run 2 cars and stick with just GT3 cars as the only class.

I would like to see this stick as GT3 only seeing as there's already a WSC series going, and this is a bit Blancpain endurance as it is which is something that doesn't currently exist as a B-Spec series here.

As for entries it would probably be best to slowly knock back how many users have 2 cars when another person joins. Each person who joins knocks down the next most recent 2 car user sort of thing.

Also, drivers and sponsor

Driver 1: Guillaume Clavette (CAN)
Driver 2: Jack Clayton (AUS)

Sponsor: Unilever

Will wait for second car to see if it gets kept or not.

The main problem I see with allowing certain teams to field two cars is that it will most definitely affect the team championship. Teams with multiple cars will be able to score more points (duh).

Well the way to fix that is to team up with another person, there's a max of 4 cars per team still, you'll just have to fill those cars with other users I presume.

Edit: Anyone new want to have a Jag?

How about only 1 car is assigned to the championship for the team (like for instance my lead car #55)? Or we could sell out rides to other users. Though my condition would be my drivers are kept in the #56. :P

I think a pre-qualifying session should be in order. GT racing is all about huge car counts, and while it would suck to not see every car make the show, I personally would prefer that to cutting down on entries. If you need every team to be guaranteed to make it, then have only second team cars participate in prequalifying. In theory, this should thus mean that, if we got 25 or 26 users, and everyone entered a second team car, then only 8 or 9 team extras will be in.

If you're not a fan of the proposed format...
I think two-car teams should still be a thing, but perhaps be between multiple GTP users. Each user contributes one car to the team. They can be different cars if they want to be, as originally outlined in the regulations.

To clarify, team rules wouldn't change as far as number of cars a team can have. I do like the idea of prequalifying as well as the idea of having an assigned car scoring points for teams. And an overwhelming amount favor remaining Blancpain focused so we will remain GT3 exclusive. Thanks to everyone who have spoken up so far. It helps seeing what the field is in favor of in things as new as this. That said, I'll make a final determination by Thanksgiving on the car/GTP member limit and hopefully have the calendar arranged.

Shoutout to anyone who can make a logo for the series and a number plate template.

On it 👍

If anyone wants to do the numberplate, I have some bare ones I can send you.

VRR CEO Evangeline Porter announced today the solution to several issues, and revealed the number plate that will be used by the series in 2017. First to be announced was the 2017 calendar:
Round 1: Japan 6 Hours/Okayama International Circuit/26 March 2017
Round 2: Italy 3 Hours/Mugello Circuit/25 June 2017
Round 3: Nurburgring 6 Hours/Nurburgring 24H/23 July 2017
Round 4: 3 Hours of Brazil/Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace/17 September 2017
Round 5: United States 3 Hours/Circuit of the Americas/29 October 2017
Round 6: Bathurst 6 Hours/Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit/25 November 2017
Porter was quick to specify that the American round of the championship was subject to confirmation based on if everything was sorted with issues with the track, and that Road America was ready to stand in as a substitute. Porter also made it clear that there would be tests prior to the season kicking off, with tests likely to be held at Paul Ricard, Imola, and the Bugatti Circuit in Le Mans. Test dates were to be determined, but were likely to be during the week to avoid conflicts with IndyCar scheduling.

Porter then covered the weighed issue of grid size. "We will be keeping our current ruleset and implementing a preliminary qualifying procedure. If there are under 24 teams, then each team will have one entry locked into the race automatically, which will be the primary entry for the team. The remaining spaces will then be filled based on times from a pre-qualifying session for all of the secondary entries there are. That will make up our 34 car grid for the races themselves.
Each team must specify which entry is their primary and secondary entry. Primary entries are locked into each race. Secondary entries are put in a pre-qualifying session and the top of the timing sheets will advance to the field for the race weekend.

The third issue covered was what races would require two drivers. "At this point, all races will require both drivers on a team. The only time a race would not require both drivers is if the race is 120 minutes or less."

Finally, Porter revealed what the numberplates would look like for 2017:
VRR GT numberplate.png

"I have to give a big thank you to the TRB Motorsports crew on a nice number plate for the series. It's certainly something to be proud to see.
Also, entry deadline is December 31st, 2016. Paint scheme deadline is February 1st, 2017
