If you could make up the VRR Super GT schedule, what 9 venues would you choose?

first my apologize to 916 I went into second corner behind Kross to quick and I had no practice in the draft there.

next I apologize to you all for not heading the race instructions. I was focused because of the rain which I no is no excuse however that is the case.

I think it would benefit the series if important information were spoken as well as messaged.

Also why did we red flag because of rain. Hamilton won last week because the pit strategy when it started to rain was perfect. I thought it was up to each individual to decide his own strategy. not have the stewards dictate it.

I'll have my head together next race.

The race was red flagged because we needed everyone in their class queues. In one lap it went from 0 to 76% track moisture, with half of the field still not in the pit lane. That wasn't fair, and that in theory was the best idea. Had everyone followed that, the conversation wouldn't have happened.
 
Just making a suggestion, I would feel it would make things go much easier if Angel had a mic. Communication is key and in this particular situation where every second counts I think there would be much less confusion if detailed instructions were given immediately following a flag as opposed to bits of info typed out every 10 seconds.

Take it as you will...
 
ok so if it starts to rain to hard to quickly then we will go into a red flag situation. it would seem like just a matter of luck where you are on the track when it starts raining but if that is the rule than I get it.

how about verbal messages? after watching the replay I realized the reason I didn't slow was I thought the people were on slicks and not wets and that was the reason for the slow pace on their part. I honestly did not see the red flag message. I did see pit message briefly but I thought that was a suggestion on your part. I will try to pay attention more on the written messages but to be honest sometimes when you get in a zone you don't even look at that.

Part of my confusion was that I was expecting Kross and GTRacer to be at caution speed not too far up the road, whereas Kross had in fact already gone by the pits when the caution was thrown, so GTRacer was moving at a good speed to catch up to him. That doesn't mitigate what I'm now suspecting was my mistake in queueing up behind the GT500s, however.

Aside from that the first hour was enjoyable, I was having fun running right behind @AudiMan2011 for most of it. I had no confidence in my braking so I was being super cautious, just sitting in the draft and saving fuel. Qualifying was a disaster and my start was horrible though.

What happened is that when Angel called SCD, I was at the final chicane. I pit, got wets, and caught up to kross. kross had damage and had to pit, and I overtook him while he was in the pits. I went to park on Kemmel Straight, and I waited for the rest of the GT300s. I realized there was a pack of cars before Pouhon, so I drove there, as sitting on Kemmel in the rain was dangerous with other cars coming towards me. You, Street King, GT916, and War parked with the que of GT500s, while you should've gone around and caught up to the que. I think that's what confused some of us.

I'm still not entirely sure, nor is this official, so do not quote me on it.

On a lighter note, I almost had a heart attack when your Corvette gave a lag lurch after you had passed me late on. Your car was a comfortable 4+ car-lengths up the road on Kemmel, when suddenly a huge Corvette butt was right in my face; I slammed on the brakes briefly to avert a possible lag crash, and had a good chuckle.
 
The official reasoning for the chaos is pretty much already been stated. There was a queue for GT500 that the GT300s had begun to queue under when they should have gone around to catch their class leader. After the GT300 class leaders queued into the same group, it through lap counts off. Compounding with the fact that no one stopped on the Kemmel Straight as directed, this wasn't a communication problem, but an error in judgement on some drivers as to where to queue. So, that leads me to the question of using speech. Not necessary if everyone has their eyes open and paying attention. All but two got the message, and those two both took out the actual class leaders trying to race under safety car. And it doesn't even help if not everyone can hear me, so no. Race report coming shortly.

Don't worry amar, it was not your fault. I think we were all confused to some extent, really. :lol:

And about that lag there, I am sorry and I apologize for it. I was ahead of you a bit and I was looking in the mirror, and then your front end was right there on my rear end and I had a heart attack as well! :lol:

I actually didn't have any damage. I've already passed the pits when the caution was thrown and then the surface water increased very fast, so I was literally driving on ice trying to make it back to pit for wets. Crazy how quick it got to over 50%.

Ah, no worries. It seemed as if you did, but slicks on water can definitely slow you down. Props to you for keeping it clean and taking on no damage in that rain. 👍
 
@vetteman24 and I have sent our report about the Red Flag and have sorted things out to the best of our ability. This has been sent to Angel for review and implementation.
 
I fully deserve a penalty for being stupid and not buying rain tyres. I'll accept the red flag penalty too.
 
@GranTurismo916 Did I hit you around the straight before the first turn? I saw you on my map and and then you went back a few, I couldn't get a view of what happened though.

Penalty Translations​
Stop and Go Pit Penalty: Driver comes to pit lane within the first three green flag laps of the race and parks for an additional number of seconds after the car has been dropped from the air jacks. The driver self serves this.
Pit Lane Start: As the field comes to the green flag, the driver serving the penalty must come down pit lane and park their car until after all other competitors have gone through turn 1. This includes all drivers from the slower class.
Dunce Helmet: Stop licking the car windows and put on your safety helmet! This is for people that forget basic race necessities, like tires, chassis, common sense...mostly tires.
Added Ballast: The car in question adds the specific amount of ballast for the race required only. After that race has finished, they remove that ballast and keep the regular success ballast they earned.
Planned Amendments​
1) At the advice of Whitetail and vetteman24, the safety car procedure will be amended and clarified. This will hopefully ease the confusion that occured today. Motegi, for the sake of the series' health, will go on as planned with weather disabled.
2) Clarification will be added on a deadline of participation. Drivers that have not made an attempt to pre-qualify (run laps in practice) for at least two events (without reason) will be served a 2 season ban from the VRR Super GT Series and put on probation for all of VRR organized events. The first round of potential suspensions will take place before the Canadian 250km at Midfield Raceway.

At least that was the only penalty I got. Could've been worse but it was my own stupid fault for being a :censored:ing clot about tyres and completely forgetting how bad the rain would get.

Sorry about that, my glasses are a bit finicky and I was fixing them so I might have done a dumb move here and there.
 
You guys spent too much money on food and not enough on tires. :P

Actually won't be here for Motegi either, so looks like it will be an uphill battle for me this season...
 
Well I can count myself as lucky to not have picked up a penalty for my noobishness. Doesn't change me being a dunce^2 though.

On the bright side, I will absolutely, positively, not make the same mistake again. Now it's crystal clear, ignore what the GT500s are doing and queue up behind my class leader. :cheers:

@GranTurismo916, I'd like to formally apologize for the contact I made with you coming out of Les Combes on lap two of today's race. I'm sorry for the contact, and it was most certainly preventable. I should've given you more room as well on that corner.

I'm trying to take steps back from actually helping to manage events and all of that behind-the-scenes stuff but with what happened here tonight, along with Angel's rather brash request for my assistance, I really had no other choice but to miss the GTP_WRS race to consult the replay and settle things. In the end I think it was worth it and I'm glad things are sorted out for the time being.

While I did win this race on a technicality, @Harry6784 was definitely the faster driver and he deserved it more than I did. Good race Harry and Angel!

@GranTurismo916, there appeared to be a miscommunication when heading onto the Kimmel, I forget what lap it was in all honesty. But my advice to you is although you held the racing line, I advise that you stick to one side of the road when a faster car is passing on a straight, even if the racing line moves from one side of the track to the other. When I initiated the overtake you were on the right and you followed the racing line to the left, which is where I was alongside you. There was no damage or much time loss so I'm not even mad, just some advice for next time. 👍

I'd like to apologize to everyone for my frustration in the race and rather rude dialect towards you other drivers. Harry and Angel, I was frustrated when you guys either directly or indirectly hit me under Red but I hold nothing against you guys. Please don't take the way I was typing personally. Even if I did hold something against you I don't have any possessed/supernatural items to harm you with, lol.

I'll hopefully see you all at Twin Ring Motegi, have a nice week everyone. 👍
