I see threads around with haters of the DLC VW Beetle. They say that its bad because its slow and rolls over easy.

HELLO?

Classic cars are not made like supercars of today, part of their fun is the fact you can throw them around and nearly be on the verge of (virtual) death. And with some tuning you've got a monster that can keep up with the BMW 320i touring car and corner like nothing else, with one of the craziest engine sounds ever!

So... do you love it or hate it?

Add Poll ?

I loooove it (fully tuned , bes turbo ever , 98 hp -> 211 hp )

And his handling waiting to transform herbie :P

Where have you been seeing people hate on it? Outside of your usual "Not a supercar baaaawww" nonsense, most people I've seen have called it either the best or second best (behind the Lambo) car in the last DLC pack.

Hate it, They need to put a 2012 GT500 in GT5 instead of these little stupid cars.

Jk :P

The rear suspension appears to be broken on that car. Looks stupid.

Thats the new trend. It started as a Yakuza thing. Just another fad, like mini trucks and donks. This, too, shall pass.

meh... I like the car IRL, but there is a lot of cars I would have liked to see make it into the game before the Beetle

Almost a full page of posts and not a single one about Adolf Hitler.

Hate.

Why do we need one? What does he have to do with our enjoyment of the game and/or car?

I love it, race them often with some likeminded guys here, I don't get why people complain it rolls over easily, with my suspension set up I need to really get it completely wrong before the car even tends to roll over.

That's because that was a stupid, irrelevant thing to bring up 2 months ago when the other thread was still going; and it would be nice if a bunch of armchair history buffs didn't try to derail this thread too.

Alright then, if you found this joke inappropriate (which is odd, since told by a Pole should be twice as funny), here's what I think: Beetle is a legendary car and adding it to any game for car enthiusiasts seems fine by me. Gran Turismo can't and won't consist only of supercars, so why not put this classic in game for all of its fans? I've had myself a lot of fun tuning my Fiat 500 or VW T1 and racing them against much more powerful vehicles.

Still, I hate the Bettle because I have every reason to do so, and that's the answer for this topic's question.

As I've said before, love it or hate it, it represents a massively historically significant car in history. And was the start of what is arguably the best sports car in existence today.

Just the first fact alone warrants its inclusion in the game.

And people need to be a little more open minded when it comes to car trends too.....

I'm glad that the Beetle is in the game because I find everyday/odd/iconic/ordinary cars to be more interesting than the latest supercars. I do like supercars also, but Gran Turismo is unique because it focuses on the everday/odd/iconic/ordinary cars. For that reason, the Beetle is a very welcome addition to the game.

. I love the car personally, it's a classic. New Beetle< Old Beetle.

Legend!

Trend amongst who? Idiots who know nothing about cars?

Yes.

It's a youth thing, inspired by what some Yakuza gang members were doing overseas. It's all about style... and apparently ruining a good car.

Again, it'll pass, and we'll have another new fad from people that don't know much about cars or style.

F'n kids these days.

I find it quite cool, only problem though is the lack of torque, even when fully moded.

But anyway, its far from being the only car with that problem, nor is it the worse.

As a former owner of this very car, PDI reached legendary status to me with this car when it was released as DLC.

The only thing missing was the deck lid extenders, chrome glove box lid and the chrome running boards I had. I was able to get very close with the wheel type, so I am 99% pleased with what is represented in GT5.
