Head start races-give a low powered car a few miles head start against a powerhouse car like a Fiat 500 vs a Lambo (Fiat has 3 mile headstart maybe) or a Mini Cooper vs the Ferrari F1 car

Couldn't you just drive up to the line and stop, then start? And I would use the car with a manual transmission unless they only have a licence to drive an automatic.

haha, I am an idiot... it's official now.

Ofcourse that is possible.

Nice, this one could be a lot of fun.

Still no time for a proper update... will do that asap.

Sounds awesome.. although you'd have to enforce some kind of 'anti-cheat' method.. or race with someone you trust. Or keep it GTP only. Then you could punish them on here (maybe with video evidence) if they cheated (in the replay?).

Isn't this just a rehash of Mission 34? Would be cool to see it to the extreme though, like Ford and Mercedes have done with base cars vs. a race car vs. F1 car.

I have an idea (something i have seen on TopGear) Where he tried to drift the Subaru Impreza and Mitsubishi Evo around a corner and get as close as he could to the spectators without hitting them, we could do this in GT5, but obviously we can't use spectators so someone in a small car (Fiat 500?) could sit on the apex while the other cars drift round one at a time trying to get as close as possible without hitting it. If there is a hit, it's a DQ.

We do that all the time in Prologue. It's a lot of fun, and it looks amazing if you're the one sitting on the apex.

Another thing they did on TopGear was the challenge where they had to pull a u-turn through some shopping karts. We could replace the karts with cars, and see who can pull it off the cleanest. Not really a race though. :ouch:

Like the pushing idea but no braking for the pushed car? You'd spend most of the race trying to dig your teammates car out of the wall after you flung him off the track at the hairpin into the sand.

How about no gas for the pushed car but they can brake?

My wacky race would be too use the track editor too make a long as straight as possible track with a very flat beginning too get too top speed then toss in some hills for massive air time. sort of drag race with jumps

how about:

"Crushed car race"
We take a course with a wall or a chicane where everyone will have to drive into at lets say 100 mph / 160 km/h so the front end gets damaged.
Then everyone drives to the start line and we start the real race with the heavely damaged cars.

Here's some things my friends and I did back in the FM2 days:

T.G.I.F. [thank God it's fermented]
-a car room for older gamers who also happen to be drinking (heavily). Can't drink & drive in real life...but you can in a game! Loser of each race takes a drink/shot, whoever crashes takes a drink/shot, basically...it becomes a big drinking game and new rules are made up constantly and are forgotten nearly as quickly. Truly hysterical if you have some good ol' boys on your friends list.

Blind leading the blind
-2 people on a team, 4 teams (or more?). Player 1 is the driver while player 2 is the navigator. Player 1 turns off TV while player 2 tries to get their team mate to complete a lap w/o dying of laughter. [best used on ovals with a FWD/AWD car]

These are the 2 weird racing things I can remember off the top of my head that haven't been mentioned in this thread.

I wander if it's possible to make a track with 0% corners.

I hope so. I'd love a five mile drag race :p.

The max length of a created track will be 10 Km. Therefore 6.2 miles, to be more specific :dopey:.

It'll be possible to set parameters (such as bank angle and curve density) for each section of the track. Ability to create long straights in a section is also confirmed. So, I'm almost sure we can create a 6.2 miles drag race.

PS: exactly 1 month...

2nd place race:
Explains itself, take a slow small car, maybe a family hatchback or so, and a dozen high powered supercars.
obviously the small car should be the slowest and here is where it comes interesting. The smal car has to finish first and the winner is the one who comes second behind it. Not much rules apply: you can't overtake the small car or you are disqualified, but you can push it if you feel its getting to slow. furthermore its even fun for the driver in the small car because of leaving all those supercars behind.

This is my first post here at gtplanet, so i apologize for starting like this.

My suggestion for wacky race is:

18+

First everybody puts their favourite beverage that includes alcohol (beer, wine, cider...) in the fridge :), sounds good already. Then start a 8 hour (or longer) race early in the morning, difficult track and hard to handle car

You have to get one beverage from your fridge in every half an hour :dunce: (of course then you have to pit) or more often if you want. You can change in to stronger stuff when the beer starts to come out from your ears. And of course then comes the toilet breaks (pit, pit, pit):sly:

At the end of the race people would have difficulties to stay on the track and hard time to handle the car, but i bet it would be FUN...

I don't support drunk driving in real world!!!

Thats sounds great...and it will probably the first thing I do too! :)

That would be awesome. Feel the force of my Honda Life Step Van! :sly:

Lol I actually tried in real life to waste a tank of gas on a Toyota Prius.

I think I managed to get it to do 24.6 MPG

Sadly even with the shinenigans that's way better then my STi on a good day.

One thing I do with basically most GT games that feature multiple models from different generations of the same car is to have a "Generations Cup" where the slogan is "who says older models can't hang?"

It's fun to take an STi Version III and own someone driving an 08+ STi or something, maybe a RUF CTR Yellowbird vs RUF CTR 2.

Possibilities are endless!

That would be fun with fields of Civics, Skylines, Evos, and the rest!

👍

Have you not seen the "old vs new" top gear did a few years ago ?

www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3qvHJBMHK8&feature=related 👍

I would be surprised to see gt5 "keeping it real" to be honest. :grumpy:

Great feature. Much love to the older cars--they have a certain charm that's sometimes difficult to quantify. Nowadays, a supercar is expected to achieve astronomical performance levels. 3.0 second 0 ~ 60? 200 mph? *yawn* Next....

Back then, it was something to celebrate and truly be in awe of. No rose-tinted glasses needed.

👍

I've got an idea. Final Gear Slowdown

The rules:
Manual transmission only: cars which can only use AT are not alloed
Everyone must be in the highest gear possible for their car (i.e. if it's a Veyron, Gear 7, if it's a Countach LP400, Gear 5, etc.)
Mechanical damage must be disabled (I'm not sure if this would destroy something)

Other than that, it's regular racing.

Chicken
Two ways it can be played:
1. Two drivers drive directly at each other.
2. Both drivers race side by side headed for the pit road (only one can fit through).
We all know how this works, the one who swerves/bails is the chicken. If both crash then its a draw. I don't know how to input a table but below demonstrates the outcomes and how the scoring works:

__________Swerve_____Straight_
Swerve|.... Tie, Tie ..... Lose, Win
Straight|... Win,Lose ... Crash, Crash

__________Swerve______Straight
Swerve|......0, 0............ -1, +1
Straight|....+1,-1........... -10,-10
