back in my day, there were no DLC packages and we had to play gran turismo how it came in the package.... i'm loving the updates and such, and you wont find me complaining. the game had started getting dull for me, until spec2.0 and dlc got released.
anyone else play the GT series from the beginnng? what are your thoughts?
 
I've played all main ones exept gt1. How the game has changed. I haven't brought them new as I was only born in 1995.

Well, except for GT2. Remember the Garage bug that would wipe out your entire Garage? I remember mailing in my simulation disc and getting a replacement. Now, thankfully, with the PS3, we download fixes. 👍

The good 'ol Garage bug.... I began playing GT in 1998 when I was 3. I have all GT games and love them all.
 
Although I bought Playstation a few weeks after it's release in '96, I didn't get into GT until 3 and much more 4 (when I discovered the DFP wheel), this was years after I started driving and enjoying cars in real life.

Give me 1 good reason why i should do his searching for him, He wont learn to use it if everybody did everything for him.

lol@ forum search. Who does that? They never work, you could probably search for "walked to school in the snow" and it will come back with no matches.

Played since day 1, still love it. But I'm a bit of a fanboy
 
So if i look up "walked to school, in the snow, uphill both ways" in the search bar will something come up, i thought so.

DLC I guess was a big thing for this series, though, I actually prefer no DLC at all. Back in day... those were the days I loved most. Still rocking in GT2. 👍

you've never heard that phrase used by the elderly? they would often joke when us kids complained about walking to school. they'd say "back in my day, we walked to school, in the snow, uphill both ways."

obviously you cant walk uphill both ways unless you took a completely different route. people are taking this thread too seriously. this isnt a "how old are you and when did you start playing GT?" this is just for the older gamers to remince about how we didnt get new cars or tracks uploaded via DLC and still played the game for days on end. when the game was completed, that was it.

:lol: You're making it sound like this was a couple of decades ago...

The first racing game I played like no other was F-Zero on SNES, this is where I first started understanding the concept cutting corners aka hitting the apex, at the tender age of 8. :) I only had the 3 classic games Super Mario, Zelda and F-Zero for the first year, and I loved playing through this game for many years. I remember everybody had it, but I was the best amongst my friends and was always showing them up. :sly:

Since internet didn't exist yet, I would have scratched my head in confusion if someone told me about being able to "download content" into my own home.

well, it has been over ONE decade. my first racing game i got hooked on was "Rad Racer" for the NES.

up until now i completely forgot how i even came across the game in the first place. my friend subscribed to some kind of playstation monthly subscription and thats when i first played it. then again at a toy store, again with a demo. it wasnt until a friend let me borrow his copy of gt1 that i got hooked.
the 80's supra i had, had a loud turbine turbo sound that i'll never forget, and the RM models were cool at the time as well.
