I remember seeing an article about this upcoming new racing game in "Next Generation" magazine. The game was called Gran Turismo, I remember the release dates kept getting pushed back and delayed, but in the end it was so worth it. I guess some things never change. Remember GT2 where you could only complete the game 98%. I always wondered why there was no interior view, especially when Need for Speed on 3do had such an awesome one much earlier.

Good times.

Well, except for GT2. Remember the Garage bug that would wipe out your entire Garage? I remember mailing in my simulation disc and getting a replacement. Now, thankfully, with the PS3, we download fixes. 👍

I never heard of this mail in GT2 to get new one until you mentioned it.

I remember I had the NTSC version and it was buggy as hell.

One of the most annoying bugs for me was the Vector M12 LM that would be in the Trial Mountain Enduro which had a max horse power rating of 295hp while the M12s was 600hp or so.

A bunch of tight asses in here, and i'm being threatened with the ban hammer by a mod. No biggie, i'll just create a new account and stick to the tuning and marketplace section of gtplanet.

If you get banned you do not go making a new account, take it like a man and deal with it and learn why you got banned.

Back in my day full motion videos were rewards for doing well in a game, and even some of those looked bad (thinking back to Cloud Strife having no fingers in FMVs).

Gran Turismo rocked even though it wasn't online, and playstations were grey

I still have my PSOne in my tech pile draw, Sony saw the error of their ways and went to black.

But their was a Black PS1 console called Net Yaroze.

Great thread.

Seems like everyone wants to complain about the freebies and awesome deals we get in GT5.

Wah - I didn't get a good b'day car

But I didn't.

Wah - The OCD has a car I just bought

It has all the cars I didn't buy because I didn't want them.

Wah - I already had the Redbull

I never wanted one and will never drive one.

Wah - They reduced the payouts for the Seasonals

I WANT MONEIZZZZZZZ

I love the GT series and have played since GT1. Like several people have said, that was when what you got was what you got.

PS. I think PDI intentionally put some bugs and flaws in GT5 just to give the forum hens something to talk about.

haha conspiracy theory I like it. And you're right that did feel better to whine and complain :dopey:

Weird. Most I had for customization were those lid stickers that came in gaming magazines.

And I can't even find a picture of one.

What's it with supposed older gamers seemingly creating these kind of threads all the time?
I'm no spring chicken myself either compared to some around here but I try to get with the times and see things in the right context in the best way I can.
Isn't it natural that a younger generation has different expectations and thus logically expects more and different things than those who experienced playing archaic videogames perhaps and are also apparantly being stuck in a time warp?

If I was given GT5 at the age of 12 with the expectations I had then of what a videogame could be, I probably would've developed a serious gaming addiction and wouldn't have left the house anymore, thankfully in general expectations grow paralel with new developments so that what once was incredible now just is mainstream or considered normal.

But to me videogames are about the present and have always been that for me, I don't get nostalgic about old games I once played unlike for example old records/books/movies sometimes do.
Therefor I don't look back very often but mostly ahead and try to judge a videogame in the correct current context and adapt to what's currently possible, which means I often have the same complaints as those 'spoiled young gamers' but the option to look back to put things into my own personal perspective and appreciate the current content maybe more than them, nothing more.

My son is 23, daughter is 27 and son-in-law is 30, all serious gamers for a looong time. When we were all visiting this summer they were talking about the " spoiled, young gamers ". My smile was wider than the back straight at Daytona. The youngest generation will always be looked down upon by the one it's replaced. And has been that way for thousands of years. Just enjoy what you've got as much as you can.

The Net Yaroze was for people that made games.
