I was thinking earlier about the warm-up lap in Sport mode, I'm not sure it really serves much purpose in its current guise (aside from a bit of time to chat to other drivers which is cool) In some races you are barely out of the pits before it is over.

Should it be there at all? Should it be longer? (at least one lap for example) Would it be better as a proper formation lap as in Project Cars 2?

Personally, I think it should stay as it adds to the immersion but should be longer, not by a huge amount but at least 2 minutes, what do you fellas think?

It was never long enough to serve any purpose and then PD made it even shorter, I guess for race scheduling reasons so they could fit more in. So changing it could impact that, I guess it needs looking at on a race by race basis but it's likely easier to just leave it as it is.

Surely though to be useful
, in terms of checking car set up and stuff, it need to be longer. On Interlagos, for example, once you are out of the pits you’ve got probably 2 corners and 15-20 seconds to check things, not long enough imo.

That pit lane is pretty stupid in length, compared to alsace (on nations sunday) which seems to have a rather short pit lane.

True, they vary and that’s why I think the time should be standardised across tracks and made longer

It's not for experimenting with setups. It's just to do a quick check to make sure everything is how one wants it. It should only take a few seconds.

Yeah, more of shakedown session than warmup. Good to confirm set up as others said. Also a good way to get out a bit of aggression before the nerves really set in for the race.

It would be cool if they allowed us to set where we wanted to start on the lap in case we wanted to work on a particular corner or whatever.

Wish it could be longer but it's not worth cutting into program time for the actual racing.

I do find it useful as grip levels in the race are lower than in qualifying. A few corners at racing speed gives you an idea what to expect.

Yeah but that's only because tire wear is on isn't it?

It's fine as it is . it lets you get a bit of muscle exercise before starting . I don't think you should ever use it as actual practice .

There's reduced grip from lap one.......even from the first corner.

When you say qualifying, you're talking about FIA group qualifying or the stand alone Qualifying Time Trial for the Dailies?

I rarely go on track for warm-up, especially if the race has tire wear on. I'd rather do a quick practice in real conditions and take care of settings there.

This is obviously how warm-ups should be spent

On a more serious note, I think I was able to do some dailies at a time where the warm-ups were 1:30 or 2 minutes? That's way better for me

I use that time to check the other player details (no of races/Wins/clean races) in order to have an idea of the race is coming....

Ok then. Tire wear is on for the race, that's why you're finding reduced grip levels. Qualifying is done with it off. If you want to practice race grip levels, you gotta open up a lobby.

As mentioned above, I also use the warm-up for checking how bad will the first corner be.
I try to start the warm-up as quickly as possible to be one of the first cars out of the pits and then watch, whether I will get pushed out at the 1st corner or not. More often than not, it will be the same situation when the actual race starts, so if I'm able to pass the first corner successfully in the warm-up, there are good chances that I will also do so in the actual race.

I think it's mostly for people to het reqdy. Gives you a quick chance to pee or change your settings. If I go out on track, it is nice to hit my zones before the race starts, then I always do a wicked big spin right before the timer runs out lol

I personally don't want them to extend the time, I get impatient. Where it is now is fine for me

Wow. That's a sexy viper next to you. *waves nervously at it*

Does that green/black ensemble turn you on? It does it for me.

It’s a colossal waste of time. Figured why bother with the extra anarchy and angst. The time is better spent practicing meditation.

It's good to check your pit exit to first corner braking point
This and:
- for the daily C race, assess your braking points with a heavily fueled car (I think this is what people experience as "less race grip").

So I didn't vote as my opinion is: as short as possible for dailies A and B, 1 entire lap for daily C.
