...Coming up to a very tight turn, the guy in third braked about 50 metres earlier than he had on any other lap on a very tight turn. ........started breaking into the corner, he turned in (again quite early it seemed) and I proceeded to take him and myself out of the race.....
If you are slipstreaming someone, who brakes too early and you slam into him, it's not your fault IF "too early" means about 50m. With braking points usually at 100m, a 50% tolerance is too much for close race. But didn't slam on his back because were quite far, and tried to overtake, so:
Following OLR rules:
1) If he breaks too early, he must know you have a chance to pass. Also have to know you can't change line while braking. If he breaks too early have to know that he can change line BEFORE you, while you can't.
2) All is about turning point on ideal race line. If you have an inch of nose in front of his rear bumper BEFORE turning point, he can't close the door but should avoid contact. If a contact happens, and you did all to avoid it, it's all his fault.
As we have no replay, we have to trust you on two points.
1) He breaked 50m early
2) He turned in before ideal turning point
3) There was an overlap somewhere between braking point and (ideal) turning point.

50m is a huge space usually, but in tolerance at corners like Monza-Goodyear or Le Mans-Mulsanne
