Ways to Improve GT5 NOT A WISHLIST

I would like to see all the same cars as one in list. And when you click on car you will see all them together and choose more appropriated one.

Photomode could be better !

However I like the way to walk around the cars and make special pictures, it's not realistic to pause a race, jump over the fences and attack the track with camera and walk around the cars.... make the pictures and continu with the replay.

Instead of this, I like the idea to walk around tracks, like other photographers do in real life. Walk around the track, use fast traveling around the track with shuttle-service (Teleporting yourself to a different corner). No more unrealistic track-walking like we used to.

Instead of this we could get camera's and lenses with the rewarding system like the car horns and paintchips. It's more realistic and I think we could get better realistic pictures with unlimited viewing points. I really like to make pictures of Eau Rouge from that Bistro-restaurant.

I enjoy photo mode as well, but they've taken it pretty far already. How about leave photo mode alone, and invest those resources into:
New cars
Tracks
Brake fade
Tire pressure
Engine sounds

And the holy grail... More Events!

I'd like to see a race-longevity option:

If you wanted to do the A-Spec races but with more laps per race you could opt for Short (GT5 default amount of laps), Medium (up to 20 laps), and Long (50+laps) (values are for example)

or specify the exact amount of laps you want to race. This would also bring pit strategy into the game earlier than it is at present.
(This could open up different prize cars/prize money per catagory or length of race.)

and/or

An option to limit the race by time instead of laps.

For me there just isn't enough mid-enduros in A-Spec. (And the amount of posts loving the Nurbie 4hr event is evident on these boards) This would open that right out. 50 laps of the Clubman Cup sounds really appealing as does the Dream Car Championship where each race in the championship has a 3 hour time limit. 3 or 5 laps doesn't cut it for me but thats just my view.

This is "The Real Driving Simulator" after all, so lets simulate the lengths of different styles of races too.

I know that we can nearly do this in practice/arcade mode, but prize money and making progress in the game are a big pull - I think it would give the game a wider and deeper appeal. (And a couple of hours to settle in to your rhythm and chase down the 2j in the Historic Racing Car Cup in the 330 P4 sounds fabulous!!)

The menu music is very good. Adds alot of maturity to the game.
Adding to the improvements list:
Fix the drivers arm speed when changing gears. It's annoying when I change gears and still see his arm down there moving around. Yeah? Small but significant.

- more classical music.

why? it's completely free to use. and more is always better.

It is, but it will always benefit from the input of classical musicians, who presumably aren't free. Some of the interpretations in the game are a little too machine-like, but it's nice to have it all the same.

those are great menu music anyway.

and just to be clear, in order to be free the musician has to be long dead already; and a new interpretation won't be free to use (if it doesn't fulfill the said requirement).

I'm not sure that any recording is free. As a hopeful musician myself, I'm beginning to learn the costs involved in doing arrangements of other people's songs. It's probably more expensive for a company to do this, because each disc the music is put on is considered a "performance," but I'd hope that with all the profits that GT5 and Prologue both have garnered for SONY, they could spend a few thousand or so on more music.

I would like to see music packs offered, even if it's for a small amount like the other DLC. Another thing I'd like to see - again, haven't tried it yet so I don't know for sure. But from what I understand, you have a choice to either play the stock GT5 list, OR your custom list. I want my music included in the GT5 list. Now watch this already be true... :p

Tenacious D
[*]Do an update that brings all the improvements from Arcade Mode to GT Mode, such as the new tire models and A.I. difficulty.
[*]Manufacturer Cup races, as with GT4, and accessible from the New Car Dealerships or from your garage, selectable through your car.

Now there is something i can agree with. But i strongly doubt it will happen, just because the seasonal events seem to be the extra races PD have left out.

-A-spec replayability
-Add RM models for more choice
-Improve connection issues
-Remodel menu style
-As tenacious has mentioned, Arcade mode difficulty to GT mode.
-LAN connection or 4p split screen
-Tone down the "vaccum cleaner" noise
-PS eye in A-spec mode

There much better

Gran Turismo has had a tradition of using fantasy tracks, so I'm fine with locations that aren't real, just realistic. Especially since it can cost money for licensing of real world locations. I do want real world race courses as much as anyone, but the team is very good at creating tracks and environments.

Well, to be fair, they have added all the greatest tracks on Planet earth, Nurburgring, Monza, Old Monaco, SPA, La Sarthe, Suzuka, Laguna Seca, Daytona and Indianapolis. The only track that is also great, that is not in there is Silverstone. And by Greatest, i mean rich in history.

How is this not a wishlist? People giving suggestions about new features they think would improve the game is a wishlist.

Pointless thread.

This. I was also wondering what the difference was between this and a Wishlist thread.

A wishlist thread is asking what people want. This is a thread to discuss what is needed for the game to IMPROVE it.

Specifically, a wishlist involves certain cars, tracks and features you want to see in GT5, not really how it can be a better game.

Three main ones for me would be; Raise the credit cap, qualifying for both online and offline and drag racing/drag strip.

Drag racing strip would be good to act as a sort of machine test thing as was done in GT3 so you can check your car's acceleration.

Simple: Let us download the season events course editor tracks.

If you can download them from other players, why can't you do the same for the tracks created by PD?

My suggestions and I don't believe they are unreasonable in order of importance for me.

windshield wipers for Standards

Garage icon in practice mode

Photo mode for standards.

Photo locations showing in the opening but not in photo mode.

The ability to add a passenger like in Rally mode when free roaming a track.

The ability to make my own grid. (Example I wanted to put a bunch of low powered commuter cars on Special Stage Route 7 to photo graph expressway rush hour scenes, but I couldn't make my own grid in Arcade) :/

Alternating Endurance races with Bob's

Stealth and Chrome Lines to appear in the Dealership like the new DLC cars do.

Fixing the Gamestop NASCAR so it doesn't disappear when someone wins it from a ticket

The Jaguar Chrome Line Facebook game to allow people anywhere to redeem for the Chrome Line Jag.

Lane departure warning system for when I nod off during a race :scared: j/k

Give us the option to delete those useless extra museum cards. What I am supposed to do with 3 Audi No. 40s?!? I know you can give them to friends, but giving them this crap seems like a good way to lose friends.

How hard is it to implement 'user folders' for cars. Like I can put the cars into different folders so I can easily find them.

This is useful to create folders for different tunes. I would create folders for the cars I built from the Tuning Forum section and set the folder name as the tuner company.

I like this! Pretty much for the same reasons as you, too. I could store my own tunes and WIPs seperately from, say, my MFT or RVR tuned cars. Or maybe a special little folder for all the silly mum-wagons and soft-roaders I have :D

My suggestions is for offline single player mode. I would like the ability to choose exactly what cars, how many cars I want to race against. Sucks that we don't have any options for this. Would love to race against 15 other cars all of which I specify. Also whether you want the AI cars to be stock or upgraded/tuned.

Same goes for B-spec mode where we can choose how many AI players, what cars they drive, and the track, time, weather, etc. Would love to just sit back and enjoy watching a customized raced with all of my favorite cars, etc.

That is actually a pretty good idea. Well done.

I rarely do tunes, so my use for it, so my folders would be like, Super GT's, LMP's, Rally, NASCAR, etc.

So, i've added everybody elses ideas (reworded in places) and have got together a pretty complete list...

Photo Mode/Course Maker/Replay Theater
- Add a point to point option to Course Maker
- Add a forwad/reverse option to Course Maker
- Add more options to Course Maker. Let us decide about how long we want the track, or the elevation difference we'd like.
- Add a few more locations to Course Maker
- Add a filter option to replays. This would allow us to watch replays in the camera filters such as Sepia & Monochrome. The recent glitch really shows how cool this could be.
- The option to use standard car's in Photo Mode. Even if we can't get to close or use our avatar, it would be great to show off their much improved looks
- Add the photo locations from the opening menu to photo travel mode.

Online
- Add a "time to race start" box in the top of the Driving Option & Setting screens online. When in either of these windows with the current system, you cannot see the warning and may miss the start of the race
- Allow us to use the new "Special tickets" in the settings menu of online lounges
- Let us sort the open lobbies with the GT500/NASCAR/Modern rally car etc. filters
- Full time leaderboards. Even if we can only use GT5: Prologue cars and tracks, it would be a massive addition
- Make an option for the "System Cache" to automatically clear each time you start the game
- Have an option to turn off the online chat function censor. On the most part, the immature people use dots and slashes to get around it and those who simply want to talk about there car's "Engine" or race at "Tsukuba" get punished.
- Change the option for Tyre wear to High/Low/Off for online racing
- More online events
- An online ranking system (maybe only for "Race for real" lobbies)
- An option to fill the online grid with AI racers, including a difficulty level and possibly the ability to use B-Spec drivers
- Specific Cars from owners garage can be forced (like the recomended cars)
- Team Events where room members are split teams randomly with points awarded per driver and team and cars assigned per team
- Rolling room results table available for most recent races showing who is the most successful overall driver in the room

Tuning/Customisation
- Make the whole premium wheel selection available to all cars
- Add the option to purchase carbon fibre hoods for standard cars. Even if they aren't shown cosmetically, the extra 5kg of weight reduction may come in handy
- Fix the suspension tuning glitch
- Make "Super Soft" and "Super Hard" Tyres availble for use
- More RMs, maybe with different liveries available
- Have a set of basic, ever-available colours in the paint shop
- A paint shop where we can browse all the chips and buy the ones we like.
- Tyre pressure adjustment

Options
- Add an audio adjuster to the pause menu. Simply so we can tweak the sound to our liking.
- In the garage search function, add a "Jump to PP/BHP/KG" slider.
- Seeing as youtube upload from in-game is seemingly impossible, perhaps having a share replay function (much like we have for photos & tracks) would be the way to go.
- Add the "Hardware" & "Steering Controllers" options menu's available under "My home settings" to the pre race menu. It would be a great time saver for those trying to set up 3D/PSEYE, not to mention the control tweaking
- Under the "Units & Languages" menu, let us not only choose the distance measurement, but also the torque, power and weight seperately.
- Allow the "Tyre/Fuel depletion" gauge to be turned off seperately from the Speedometer & Rev counter on the HUD
- Allow the choice of dynamic/non-dynamic chase cam
- Allow the choice of Hood/Roof view
- A "Go to next race" button on the seasonal events (much like on licenses)
- User's folders for cars, which can be named
- PSEYE in A-Spec
- Option to delete museum cards

Gameplay
- Add an option like GT4's where you could choose to "Reset race record" to re-obtain a prize car. With the selling limit's it wouldn't be exploited for money, but would be a great way for people to collect colours/tune levels they like for each model
- Add the Veyron, FGT, a truck & a Pre 1979 Japanese car to a permanent slot in the UCD.
- Allow us to delete DLC cars from the garage. Though it was a good move when we could only have one of each, now that they're re-purchaseable there is no need for the safety any more
- Increase the credit cap, even if it's only to 25 million.
- Increase the item cap
-Make the 400m & 1000m Top Gear Tracks used in the Licenses available online along with in Arcade & Practice. The wet variation's could also be added.
- Brings all the improvements from Arcade Mode to GT Mode, such as the new tire models and A.I. difficulty.
- Money/XP reward for arcade
- Let us download the seasonal events course editor tracks
- Ability to change cars from pre-race screen in Arcade & Pracitice mode

Racing
- Brake fade
- Make the drivers arm match the shift time changing gears
- Improved AI (just so they don't slow down when you go to overtake them)
- Improved AI pit strategy for endurance races
- The option to change the list of competitors from names to cars in A-Spec, like you can do in B-Spec
- Qualifying
- Windshield wipers for Standards
- Ability to have B-Spec drivers compete endurance races with you
- Different color triangles for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place cars on the map while racing
- When you pass a checkpoint in 1st place and the car in 2nd passes it, show which car it is

Big ideas (may fit into any category, but probably to big for an update)
- Increase the level cap, add an R license and an "Ultimate" A-Spec/B-spec series. This would give us who have finished the game a new reason to play
- Bring back manafacturer races
- Race creator. Pick the laps, track, number of opponents, opponents cars etc.
- LAN or 4 player split screen
- Water accumulation over entire car
- A generic front splitter for standard cars (like the wings)
- Add a "second paint colour" section to GT Auto for those cars with stripes/decals, or better yet let us choose stripe/decal designs from other cars to put on our pride and joy
- Stage 4 turbo, engine, weight reduction (GT4)

GT6 features
- Full blown livery editor
- Full blown Course Maker
- Engine Swaps

I love GT5 and appreciate everything PD has done thus far, in my oppinion they do not need to update the game any further. But these additions, while small, would help improve the game quite a lot.[/QUOTE]
