We know that GT5 should include very many cars - how about some variety?

True indeed, but who said that GT was all about racing? It's about driving, which you can do with either a kei car or a muscle.

Also, history of the automobile plays a vital role in the game, so 70's cars must have their own space, and muscles just define what is an american 70's car. ;)

Daihatsu copen + cone maze gymkhana in GT4 were very funny, the car was designed to be driven slowly and tight on 90 degree corners, even key cars are cool if they're given the proper use, and racing them on motorland was cool too, that's what we need to enjoy kei cars, short and tight tracks.

that's what drag racing is for.

Riiiight. They will beat the japanese econoboxes because they have a lot of power to gain and overtake in the straights. But what's the point in that when at the next corner you lose whatever you gained cause you rolled over or a tire came of the rim?

1971 Dodge Charger Superbee 426 Hemi = 8'05.413
1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 = 8'08.853
1970 Dodge Charger 440 R/T = 8'10.808
1970 Plymouth SuperBird = 8'14.706
1971 Plymouth Barracuda 440 Six Pack = 8'21.408
1964 Pontiac GTO = 8'21.459

1971 Nissan 240ZG = 8'38.240
1968 Nissan Fairlady 2000 (SR311) = 8'39.657
1970 Nissan Skyline GT-R HT 2000 (KPGC10) = 8'42.005
1967 Nissan Skyline 2000GT-B = 9'16.918

On the Nürburgring. Same conditions for all cars, Gran Turismo 4 (a video game), same driver. I think you will agree with me when I say the 240ZG is much faster than a kei car, and it still got owned by 17 seconds against the grandfather of muscle cars, the GTO. On the Nürburgring, I dare to say the most windy road you can find on GT4.

I do recognize muscle cars haven't what I would call "good handling", but they do not suck enough either to be undriveable. They handle bad, that's it.

@DubViper and Lucas:
Brain-Fart !!!
FM3 only got 300+ Cars ???

=> 300>1000
=> surely more variety !!

Having hundreds of cars that are basically the same (kei cars, Skylines, etc.) isn't what I would call variety. Out of those 400 cars Forza 3 has, I find more cars I would drive than in GT4's over 600 cars.

To each his own. I'd rather have GT with Forza 3's car list.

someone should look up trans am racing from 1967 thru 1971, you might learn something.

Man, those should be included, Boss 'Stangs, Camaro's and those Superbirds fully prepared for racing.👍
With "should" i ofcourse mean, i personally would love that series to be included.
Anyway, i would be perfectly satisfied if GT5 just offered a large selection of normal Muscle Cars.
They may not be suited for racing or lapping fast on a twisty track, but since when did that ever started
to become the benchmark for inclusion in GT?
It's about the fun they bring, and the funny thing about people complaining about the inclusion of these gloriously irrelevant V8 monsters is that they will for certain will be included and probably in a larger amount than ever before.

I could not believe the first time i fired up GT4 to see a 1988 IROC-Z concept lol thanks Kaz please give us the same in 5.

I'd rather have GT with Forza 3's car list.
Yuck... lots of supercars and race cars, and a smattering of street cars? Not me. Give me a thousand cars. In fact, give me 700 plus cars from GT4 vs the 400 some odd from Forza 3. My 360 is still dismantled since Christmas, and the only reason that I don't make a go of GT4 is that I have a big synthesizer in place of my racing rig right now, and still being a little sore from a car wreck, it's a bit much to move. Otherwise, I'd be tearing around on Suzuka or Grand Valley in Super GT cars, and making money to add even more cars to my nearly 400 count garage.

-> I recalled that I replyed the same question way back in GT4 Forums before GT4 was ever released. :sly:

-> But as a Vehicle Wish List magnate, I believe its my turn to reply.

I.-> I suggested this before, in order PD/GT to have more variety they should have one branch on each part of the continent; Americas (North/South), Euro-Africa, Austral-Asian/ASEAN (excluding Korea & Japan) and HQ (Japan & Korea). :dopey:

II.-> Back in GT1, PD or should I say Polys Entertainment was a peanut-sized company compared to what they are now. Ferrari and the majority of the European automakers ingnored PD when they asked for their cars to participate in GT. However only TVR and Aston Martin answered the call. :)

III.-> In GT1 and GT2 days, PD was still fairly a small-fry. So they do what they can to test cars (local/domestic and foreign made) in Japan, that is the main reason on why there are infinite numbers of Skylines/Lancer/Impreza/ RX-7/etc. It this would happen in the US and Europe; it would be the same effect and we ill be saying "...too many Corvettes/Mustang/F-Bodies..." or "...too many 3-series/Audis/AMGs/Golfs...".

^ They still do it up to now with GT5P, notice that the S197 Mustang GT is completely different bodystyle compared to its American counterparts (notice the rear bumper, fenders, and the red hue on its tail lights {darker}). And if you notice in GTPSP (on the detail/info screen) whenever they feature a Euro or US car, they always mention "...the one offered in Japan..." or "...the Japanese specifecation model...". :indiff:

IV.-> I bet no one notices that GT2 has more Muscle Cars compared to GT4. But the diverity was still weak compared to GT5 (on which focuses more towards European cars).

V.-> Yes, I do applaud Turn 10 (and Eden Games {Test Drive UNLTD} for that matter) on their diversity on sports and sporty cars/CUVs. It it is just that, only in one field only just like just like Bizzarre (PGR 3/4) on super cars. Diversity is different than variety that GT has. ;)

VI.-> Its all about accessability towards these manufacturers. I bet PD already had access to warehouse in JDM-land but not exactly in Europe (wheres my (BMW) M8 prototype & {Volvo} V70R) and in America (wheres my '92 {Acura} Integra GS-R & '99 {Mitsu} Eclipse GSX). :indiff:

^ Who knows what would GT5 would bring (maybe it will fail doing do). All we can do is wait for a release date and confirmation list. :indiff:
