I think itrs eligible, it's just a NSX-R with a carbon fibre hood.

EDIT: oh. do you mean that NSX-R concept LM road car? the thing with the badass bodykit?

that is exactly what I mean but guess what, not only can you not get the power below 400, but the tranny is adjustable! :yuck: R390 it is I guess, although I will have to try blast through there with an S2000

One thing I don't fully understand, maybe I'm just being stupid :sly: . But if you tune 2 cars to be 400HP and 1250kg, then the power to weight ratio's are exactly the same right ... and then if you put Sport Soft tyres on both, they should be even more exactly the same ... but how can one car (R390) be faster around the track than a NSX for example with the same specs ? Must be suspension or something ? Just wondering ... ??

mechanical grip baby! not to mention aero, power curves and all that nonsense.
what sucks about this challenge is that the R390 road car was probably built after the race car was built just to make the race car legal in some for or another.

it is a detuned race car with semi-slicks.

Suspension design, trq ratings, center of gravity, downforce, tire width, other stuff...(EDIT: Lol, talked before I finished reading through that page... Already answered a couple of times... :dunce: )

I'm debating what kind of car I want to drive around the track.... If that Volvo would weigh less and if the stock suspension wasn't so all over the place I'd consider it... I'm not sure what I want to take out yet... Argh. If I want to go for points I may take out the R390, but I'm not sure I want to take 1st place in D3 again quite yet... :sly:

Tuff, do we have internet yet?

phew, me and r34 jse have just a-specced the el capitan 200 in the stock r390. It was an awesome race since the r390 had almost the exact same top speed as the rest of the cars so it was always neck-a-neck on straights. We did 3 11 lap sessions each so we both did exactly half the race. It was so much fun, when we pitted in after 11 laps the one of us that just got out of the seat checked the tightness of the wheel and selected everything on the pit stop options whilst the other guy got in the seat and put the gloves on. It was real intense!

(sorry to go off topic lol)

I improved my overall time with the R390 (I use a DS2, BTW), and T1 (but not T2 :()

T1: 29.868
T2: 1:06.636

T1: 29.572
T2: 1'05.505

No idea how to hit 1'04 @ T2 now that I'm this far. See another .2-3, maybe.

mkay, you are damn quick! You sure you should be down in Div 3 :sly:

I don't know how much quicker I can get, I'm with Z though, picturing a 1'04.xxx at T2 is difficult, I might be able to dip into 1'05 but even that is mighty quick!

@R390GT1
The car needs to have the thottle feathered a bit on various corners to coax it around, I agree, it has a little bit of understeer, just try using half throttle as your turning some corners. Alternatively tap the handbrake, also can be effective :)

K thanks, the handbrake sounds good :sly:

You really can only tap it though, otherwise you lose too much speed, and it's not for all corners. Experiment on the first sweeping left first, if done right you can get around it quicker than any other method (in my opinon) but it is harder to get right than concentrating on a clean well-paced cornering strategy in general.

I have dropped my overall time by another 1.5 seconds, after doing another 10 laps. I think another hour or so should get my time down at least another second.

I can see myself in 1:06 T2, but I don't know about 1:05, it just seems out of reach. :(

Getting faster.. somehow. Managed 1'05.413 @ T2 this time around. Taking a break for a while now. I see another .1-2 for me because I shifted into 5th way early for the hilly section after T2.

Tip: After coming down the big hill through the hairpin, you don't need to use your brakes until after the T2 marker. Exit the hairpin in 3rd, let off the gas before the downhill kink, position the car for the uphill kink left, grab 4th gear and gas out.

I've spent about 2 hours on this race so far and i'm about .4 seconds away from my goal for the week. There's tons of great tips in this thread, especially the best gear for certain corners and such (Thanks holl01, Z., and anyone else i've missed out). I'm so paranoid from reading all these tips about shifting early that now i'm finding myself shifting at 6k RPM :indiff: . Finding that using 6k RPM as a shift point is aligning my gear selection pretty well with the aformentioned tips.

So far,
T1: 0'29.461
T2: 1'05.041 (sooooo close to the 1'04s)

I've seen a T1 as low as 29.2 but i dont think i'll see that again, maybe 29.3 and i'll be happy. Saw a T2 of 1'04.9XX twice, blew one of those right away on the left turn after the bridge, and the other on the exit of the final turn :ouch: . Hopefully i can repeat those efforts a couple more times and clean up my final section a little bit more.

Edit: DS2 and the car is the R390 of course!

T1 - :29.702
T2 - 1:06.070

Feelin pretty good thus far except for that hill again....I think I can get another .3 or so just in the hill alone.

T1 - :29.709
T2 - 1:05.655

I really dunno if I'll beat this one, I hit it smooth. I can see maybe .2 here and there, but pulling it all together will be tough.....

bet my time again by .15 but i'm not sure if its clean or not, just after T2, i tried to get the best possible line in for the left, so i tried to hug the wall as close as possible while braking, and i'm not sure if i grazed it under brakes, i checked the data logger, and there was no suspicious activity, and in photomode, its kinda hard to tell if i'm hitting it or not.

but i think its clean cos there is no spikes in the data logger, any suggestions on how to verify this situation

(T2 1'04.358 and a stunning finish, mainly cos i thought it was dirty while driving the final few corners) i really buggered up the hairpin though

Well I would start with sending it to CFM I guess, since he runs this show. it would be great to get a pic of it and just blur the stats. There are ways to turn off the blur when u take a pic, although that is what I hear as I don't have any pics yet. I'm sure someone knows tho. BTW, NICE WORK MAN!

I hope i have some close competiton with my ruf in div 2 hahaha once you loose the tail in that car you won't catch it back easily so it is really fun specially in the hill section
