Those of you running Minis around Rome keep it up and don't forget to submit yout time to me (not GoKents) by the same deadline as the normal weekly (12am EST). Keep at it.

I've been very busy this week and haven't gotten much running in on this or the Mini. I am sitting down for 3 hours tonight and have all day tomorrow to work on it.

In the time I have spent running I have I have gravitated to cars that are "fun to drive" rather than cars I think are competitive, at least with the road cars. My race car is on par but not in my hands. I've had more fun fiding cars and tuning them to the spec, the main road car I am running is at 2.001 fully broken in...it was more fun figuring that all out.

I'm an avoiding using the RUFs this week. I did run them early on and was in the T2 49s with little tuning but am not going any further with them. I know i can get them to be competitive but I want to learn a few new cars. All the cars I am drving this week are ones I have either never dirven or driven very little. i sorta dig that, the learning about tuning and how to work on handling has been good for me this week. What I learn this week will help me in the future.

Indeed scuderia,

Hopefully everyone will get to learn the way you are. ;)

As for me, Im back in it baby. :D

Just went and bought another ds2. :( :majorpissedoff:

But hey, what can ya do?
So atleast I got the 3 dollar 1year warranty this time around.

And lucky the other ds2 works for all my other games... gt3 is just too sensitive for the broken controller... but games like ace combat4 or fighting games. :trouble:
It's all good.

So yeah, I may get to dog my race car one more time, and I may even run my cobra around the track a few more times.

Till I do all that, I will talk to you all later.

but I do want to add.

Racer
Time
Division
Car

All those are to be included in your time submission. Whether racing 1 or 2 cars, I would like to get all that info, it will make things a whole lot easier.

Thanks again,
-

Those of you looking to try something different, I've been trying to get a good lap out of the Mazda RX-7 RZ, everytime I'm on a good lap though I end up touching a wall. If your intrested, try it with these settings from over at GTvault by "Fumes"

http://www.gtvault.com/SetupDisplay.cfm?SetupID=5601J644508E84741

The car is really enjoyable to drive but you have to be real smooth and keep the revs up. I've been using an auto-setting on the trans.

I've been to busy with resumes and job searching to really put in some time with the cars, so I'm not sure if I'll be in this week. Have'nt even gotten into a race car yet. :p

Well don't forget fellas, you don't have to turn in both cars.

As for me, it's work on a speech while drinking some brew, then off to the ps2 and a fresh grippy analoge stick, should make progress with atleast the road car, I've got a feeling that the race car work is over for me. :(

But I can live with my current time, although I will be interested in talking about the laps more in the results thread...

Hey, gt3emp, you still around?
Haven't seen your usually post count in here. ;)
Talk to you guys later of course,
till then,
-

I think the normal deadline is 100 AM EST. But this did get me to thinking, that we are no longer on EST but on Daylight Saving Time. I assume GoKents is also, but I'm not sure this is done outside the US.

@ GoKents Could you clarify the effect of DST on the deadline?

First the "Tranny Trick", and now "Fumes". Can't anybody around here keep a secret? Fumes does generally come up with some decent settings, which I'll sometimes use as a starting point. But it's important not to use gtvault as a substitute for learning to tune on your own.

you are right, I usually try to submit my times by midnight EST for the weekly, but you have until 1am EST....GoKents and I are in different timezones in the USA, he is 1 hour behind me in NYC.

The mini race deadline is the SAME as the weekly but your times PM to me, NOT GoKents.

I'll have the results posted by 8:30am on Tuesday.

:-)

Ok I am off for some seat time in a Mini and my other cars.

Yeah, good point there hareturtle...

Basically, right now it is *8:45 at my house. Central standard time.
The deadline is going to remain the same as before.
12:00am tuesday CST. same as 1am EST tuesday.
6am london tuesday.

I just noticed like some kind of dumbass that the timezone chart has london dubbed as "dmt"
http://www.worldtimezone.com/

So I don't know what to say, but here is the deal.

The deadline is the end of monday night, before tuesday the 6th.
12:00 am my time. Cst. New Orleans.

I will provide time zone links and the deadline based on my time every week.

Im gonna try to keep it simple for now on.

But just to be sure...

6am tuesday morning Greenwich mean time.
12am tuesday morning Central standard time.

btw, went and made the deadline on the first page real simple.
Learn my time, learn london time... from there, everyone should be able to use the link to figure out there time based on mine. ;)

Midnight at the end of monday night is only 1 hour earlier than when boom did it, and it makes things much better for me.

thanks for working with me on it.
Later. :D

yeah GoKents, I got a similar problem with my clear blue DS2 controller. The sad thing is.. I returned a perfectly decent black DS2 controller for this one, cuz the black one, i didn't like the way the R2 butten felt... i'm such an idiot.

the clear blue DS2 analog system just shuts down for no reason, and the light goes off and my car goes crashing into the walls. It seems to do this at very random times, but yet I still use it. lucky it's never crashed during one of my better laps, or I'd be crying.

anyways, no new times to post up except i still haven't broken the 47 time yet...

but now that I know this tranny trick works... i'm confident i'll see some 46's...

Damn, as bad as it is, I am glad to know that I wasn't just crazy.

I bought a new green one, I wonder if that was a mistake?
but atleast I've got a warranty for a year this time around. ;)

But it was just like you said only worse, because all of my buttons were on the fritz... gear changes randomly, view changes randomly, even steering and braking problems.

I guess this all just goes to show that I play gt so much I just couldn't deal without it... I mean, my controller goes bad only to the point that I can't play gt and then I go buy a new one.

Anyway, I will catch you all later.
Go make some suggestions in that thread for next week... Im not sure what to do for that race, so I am open to alot.
(although I do preffer grip and speed.) :trouble:
Back later,
till then,
-

btw, rickstar, do you race with vibrate on?
I used to have a ds1 that would shut off the analoge when the vibrate function was used... try that if it is only the analoge stick that is cutting out. ;)

@GoKents

I play with vibrate on 99% of the time. Last week was one of the few times I didn't cuz the vibration was so prominent, it affected my control of the analog sticks.

With the clear DS2's, you see how many parts there are in these controllers, and considering the punishment we inflict on it, direct or indirect, the durability is actually very impressive. I mean these aren't the simple SNES controllers from back in the 90's.

Oh yeah.. my faulty DS2 used to hit the pause button for me too. oh well.. it hasn't acted up for a little while, so I guess I can live with it. If not, I found my receipt and packaging, and since it's from walmart, I can bring it back in 100 pieces and they'll still take it :p

Finally took a stroll through the garage and picked out an Arta NSX. 562 hp. 2.046 PWR.

18.193 48.823 (clean lap)

I'm still here....I had a busy week and my son is coming up from San Antonio Florida for a visit, plus I had to snatch a little time to run the A.R.C race at Rt5II Wet in a Subaru Impreza Rally Prototype. Didn't get to devote enough time to reach my goal there either, but I made a respectable showning nonetheless.

Here, I've got a good clean Race Car time that I know is about .500 off where I need to be based on what I'm capable of....still probably a full second off what the fastest times will be, but, hey....I've got my limits.....my minimal talent will only get me so far before I hit the 'proverbial brick wall'.

That is especially the case at a track like Rome, where you've got to be perfect 100% of the whole lap....any slight lapse in precision means a wall bump and a wasted run.:irked:

I may get some time to grab a production car and at least enter a time for that division....but, I won't expect a very good result because of the time this track demands.

So, I'll start posting some progress input in a few minutes.:D :)

Road Car

T1=18.347

T2=49.383

I can get it down a little more, but it will take some time.

I did this race in a skyline JCTC with a stage 1 turbo charger and got a lap time of ________.

Have you not noticed that no-one else posts their laptimes? We only post T1 & T2 times.

The only person you tell your time to is GoKents in a PM.

Notification:
I edited out the final time that was orginally posted in the open by audiracing in his last post.

final times are not to be posted in the open.
Only give final times in private messages to me. We only discuss t times in the threads.

As for me, nothing new really, except on thing... I didn't feel like running anything slow, so I got in my rgt.
1 session, still working at it. (probably tonight since I have school shortly)

road car: 49.8
race car: 46.???

I will be back later tonight before the deadline.

Good luck fellas. ;)

Oh yeah, don't forget to include your divisions with your times... and if you do forget, don't write me a second pm just to let me know your division.
Racer
Time
Car
Division

Thanks. :D

hi everybody
has any else noticed you can run faster with the controler than the wheel? Well i can for some reason. My previous time with the wheel was around 1.24 then i started using the controller and got faster my t times are
T1 19.035
T2 52.304
oh by the way i am in division 3

What setting do you have the wheel at. Beginner, Amatuer, Professional or Simulation.

Hey guys... no time from me this week, I got to wrapped up with the GTRC races over the weekend, and as it stands, I don't have time to get a clean lap done between now and going to bed! Maybe next week I see yous guys around...

What I do remember from the second session I had last week:

GT40 Road Car:
17.756 // 47.897 (dirty)

GT40 Race Car:
17.6xx // 46.9xx (dirty)

Jag XJ220 Race Car:
17.4xx // 46.6xx (dirty)

It just takes too much effort to nab clean laps on Rome Reverse!

I just noticed this:

I can not emphasize enough, that the Jaguar Xj220 is the biggest disapointment I've come across in GT3. What the hell good is a car that can go 220mph but can't friken turn or brake worth a damn. Man I hope Polyph got the programming wrong on this car because I'm a big fan of Jaguar styling.

There could be some programming error. I've seen on an English tv car series (top gear) that the XJ220 road car was a pretty decent car. It handled well, and hit over 210 mph stock. And doesn't the real life XJ220 have over 540hp? While GT3's XJ220 road car only have 501hp? Then again, I think there's a difference between bhp and hp. And why GT3 illustrates torque the way it does, I'll never understand...

From what I remember of the real life XJ220, it does have a slight problem in the braking area, but it is still on par with the McLaren F1 for braking power and distance. It corners very good, sounds awesome, and in fact hits 219 mph from the factory. :D

Jaguar claimed that the test track they used to speed test the car when it first debuted prevented it from reaching 220MPH, which is supposed to be the car's namesake.

I bet. ;)

About the difficulty of running Rome II....

A-G-R-E-E-D.....I get that 100%....I don't know how many times I've stopped and restarted, not to gain speed, but to just get a clean lap.

The fastest laps are 99% of the time bounced because of a little touch somewhere....you almost feel like going slow just to get the heck out of here!:irked:

I've got company now so my dedicated runs are pretty much over....my submitted runs are slower runs and were I saved simply because they're clean. 'Fast' would take a whole lot longer.....so, if I get crushed this week, I'll just smile and move on.:D

My fastest clean Race car run (over 3 tenths faster than my submitted run) was not saved because I got distracted in setting up thinking I'll easily better that time. Yeah...right!:O

I'm bumming as well. My fastest laps always had a scritch here or there, that negated it. Perhaps my best lap was a 49.1 T2 only to nudge the wall on my trip down to the finish line.

AO

Well....I learned a few things this week.

1) I should stick to driving RUFs
2) Non Japanese race cars in GT3 are a friggin joke (well other than the Zonda and the Astra)
3) Minis are fun
4) Torque is important

So ya..hahaha. I had a busy week with work and in ther eI bought a new laptop and have been installing software like mad....so my GT3 time was limited after Wednesday night.

I tried a ton of cars and ended up going with two that weren't the fastest for me but out of trying to learn them I stuck to them. The RUFs, all three of them, were .780-2.0 full seconds faster than my submitted road car (but I knew that I wanted to try some new cars). The race car, I got one other car within .3 of my submitted time car but it was alot more work. if I had more time (and will) I could have chopped at least .5 off my submitted race car time, still off the pace.

Road
19.211/51.716

Race
18.120/48.370

So my time is submitted and I am looking forward to next week. Racing 4 races in one week and then being crunched for time is not fun!

All you people racing Minis this week, don't forget to PM ME (not GoKents) your times, the deadline is the same as it is for the main weekly.

I already have a few times which is cool. I'll post the results by 8:30am EST tomorrow in a seperate thread. So when you don't see them tonight with GoKents results don't worry.

Please don't discuss your times until I get the thread up tomorrow morning!

thanks guys.....

Until tomorrow

I bet. ;)

I 'think' they used this curved oval track, and from the top speed they reached on that track, they extrapolated it to get a speed equivalent to one that could be achieved on a flat plane. I can't remember what the exact numbers were, but the XJ220 hit like 217mph on the curved oval track, which equalled 223mph on a flat surface.

Anyhow... time submitted.

Finally hit 46 in T2. I quit the moment I did. It's just too hard to get a clean lap.

I'm sad I had to use the awesome Castrol MUGEN NSX to achieve this, but the moment I stepped into the Arta NSX, all the other race cars seemed to pale in comparison. After that, I just one-up'd the Arta and went MUGEN instead.

I'm sure there's gonna be faster times, but if there's an NSX time more than 1 second faster than mine, I'm gonna buy an X-port instantaneously cuz I need to know how that is possible!

p.s. can someone briefly tell me what a 'garage editor' is?

Times submitted:

Road: 18.820 50.787 Zonda C12S. Not the fastest choice, but I had one hanging around, and I've always liked this car.

Race: 18.448 48.861 Arta NSX Nice car, though 13 hp under the "ideal" for the 2.0 PWR. Gave up a quarter second on the T1 in this lap, but you gotta take 'em where you find 'em.

If I recall correctly they had the take the catalytic converter off to get thet speed too, so the car wasn't standard.

It's a programme you can use to edit your garage file. (You need an Xport to get the garage from the PS2 to the PC.) You can use it to give yourself cars and all the right bits you need to save you from buying them.

For example, the 2 cars I ran in this were the GT40 & XJ220 Race cars. I had neither of them and you can't buy them either. So I loaded my garage onto my PC, changed 2 of the existing cars to the GT40 & XJ220, with T8's fitted and a stage 1 turbo added to the Jag. Put that back onto my PS2 et voila, 2 shiny new unbuyable racecars :D
