Stock Superfast for the Special Event. It's all about throttle control with this one. I need a stiffer spring on the accelerater pedal for this car.
I put the delta on my fastest lap replay at the end of the video.
This one was pretty easy, was surprised that the AI doesn't just slam on the brakes in the first sector like they do with other cars, big contrast to the Gr.B race where they were all over the place.

One thing I forgot to mention with Monza, the AI is absolutely insane around there and often will just go straight off the track, for me the Viper was just in the lead after pitting but then immediately spun at the first chicane and waited until he was last to rejoin. One time I got to that same chicane and there were just 3 cars sideways in the middle of the track, no idea how.

Because I'm an old fart I think it's part of the homage to the early days of Gran Turismo when it was all single player and name of the game was racing your ass off to collect the big ticket items.
Let's give a little to the fires, shall we ;) (uh oh, I'm already afraid of the comments...)

Yes I think this is the main thing about all this "PD-forces-us-to-buy-that-****ing-stupid-superfast" discussion: PD states themselves that GT is, and has always been, about three principles:
  1. Drive different cars (aka "race")
  2. Learn something about different cars
  3. Collect different cars
BTW, that's also the claim they made when announcing their free game "My First Gran Tourismo".

So "collecting" the superfast (by buying it) seems to be an intended mechanism of the game, however not primarily for commercial reasons, but for the sake of fulfilling principle number 3.

But: I agree that it would be great if PD gave us an option to rent a car for the Weeklies, such as it's the case in the TT's.

Nonetheless, calling somebody's opinion or personal principles "just stupid" is IMHO an attitude that should be avoided here (and anywhere).

All wins on hard difficulty:
1. Honda N-ONE RS '22 - 450pp,CS
2. Porsche 911 GT3 (997) '09 - 650pp,SS
3. Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI GSR T.M. SCP '99 - swap engine,690pp,SS
4. 812 SuperCrap - 718pp,SS,racing brakes and pads
5. Mazda LM55 VGT (Gr.1) - 800pp,RH,no pit stop

All cars except the SuperCrap have tunes by @praiano63.

Oh hell, don't get me going back to GT1 racing with a Civic over and over and over to buy a decently fast car after figuring out that modifying the Civic wouldn't get me anywhere and having to restart the entire process over. That was some of the worse times just because the car was so slow. I've done my fair share of grinding (in the past), but not in slow cars!

Been an annoying time today but here it is.

Japanese FF Challenge 450: Suzuki Swift Sport. Fun little build, a tad over powered but just remembered it was there and another fun build to drive
Porsche Cup: Porsche 911 GT3 (997). My Goold ole' Cup car build, still as quick as before.
Evolution Meeting: Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Final. Got to really test just how grippy this car was and holy crap, AI really stoof no chance in any fast corners in 4th gear as I just walked around them. Not quick on the straights but stupid glued in the corners.
World Touring Car 800: BMW Mclaren F1 GTR. Pulled it out just for the monies and as per usual, it delivers.
Ferrari 812 Superfast One-Make: Setup wasn't as diabolical here, it was actually decent for once (minus Never being able to get the car as stopped as I want at the end of the back straight)

From this round i choose Porsche cup cars .
Am trying to win ( normal mod ) on a 73 model, stock on SS tyres only .
I have two , the one is wide and is at 544 +pp and the other at 539 +pp.

I managed only second place till now but if i don't make mistake and escape Wong at corkscrew 😂 i might done this.
To win and take and CRB is almost impossible since the AI aren't only faster but also no respectful at all.

Anyway it's a hell of joy this car on SS tyres ( at least for me ) .

What I used, the Evo was new for me only because of a engine swap.

I've been trying the same thing in my favorite stock car, the 911 Carrera RS CS (993) '95. A fun race but the leader is always too far ahead so 2nd place with a CRB is the best you can do.

Need a tune for the Superfast, and need PD to bring back 1-lap magicA 1000
The 1000bhp is the best tune imo.

Well that's me not completing the week again. I've never wanted to buy the Superfast, and have refused to do so on principle. You should not be force to purchase such a high value vehicle to participate.
Why would you not want a 812, it is a very good car, if we could trade cars I would send you one of mine, the 1000bhp cartoon car on the left!

Always normal mod, wide car ,stock with only SS tyres at 544.99 pp.
I did one race at hard level ( end up second) just to see Serrano time which was 10 seconds faster and make it impossible to win it since theres no way to be 5 sec. per lap faster from him .

Other than that my impression remains the same:
The 73 model on SS tyres are a blast to drive without any other addition .

It's not for everyone...

I have one I only use for these special events. It has awful handling characteristics (stock), and is far from being one of the prettiest Ferrari's ever. Different strokes for different folks.

Done and dusted (hard difficulty)...

Autopolis - Honda Integra Type R (DC2) '95 - The car was well over the suggested PP so I just left it stock. Still an easy win. First ticket obtained.

weekly-challenge-202508w4-r2.webp

Laguna Seca - Porsche Carrera GTS (904) '64 - I wasn't expecting much from this car, but I gave it a go with only a tire upgrade to SS. It was enough for a P2 finish. A surprisingly fun car to drive, too. That was good for the second check mark.

weekly-challenge-202508w4-r3.webp

Kyoto - Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution V GSR '98 - This was the most challenging race of the week. First I tried just a tire upgrade to SS. Couldn't catch a single car on the first lap. Add the sports-level upgrades. That got me P9. Add the semi-racing upgrades. That did it. P3 and the second ticket.

weekly-challenge-202508w4-r4.webp

Trial Mountain - Ferrari 812 Superfast '17 - Upgraded the tires to SS. Took the lead towards the end of lap 3 when the two cars lost their rears. Easy win. Fourth box checked.

weekly-challenge-202508w4-r5.webp

Monza - Aston Martin DBR9 GT1 '10 - I ran a 6RM-4RS strategy. Had to save fuel a bit by short shifting to stretch out the first stint to 6 laps. Could only manage a P3. That was good enough for the final ticket, though.

This mess races had a bit of everything; fun, surprises, drama, frustration, and dare I say, excitement!

Cars chosen for this week’s challenges:

1) Japanese FF Challenge 450 - Suzuki Swift Sport ‘17; 499PP on Sports Hard tires: Yes, I joined the No Honda club this week and because of that I had fun with this swift little car, great to toss around and gave all the Hondas a lesson in humility

2) Porsche Cup - Porsche 911 Carrera RS ‘92; 648PP on Sports Hard tires: strangely all ai cars were in dumb slow mode, only challenge was the lead rabbit, er, car who somehow seems to ran like it was 700PP on racing tires, for three laps we were within seconds of each other until the final lap when it predictably gave up and stayed back. Surprisingly great three laps still!!

3) Evolution Meeting - Mitsubishi Lancer Evo III GSR ‘95 (or the Mirage Technica as this generation was called then here in PR, no AWD obviously); 611PP on Comfort Soft tires (down from a 650PP, Sports Soft tires and rear spoiler): so, my cousin from the ‘hood took my car and somehow he lost my car rear spoiler thus leaving me without any downforce and also took my Rays wheels with my Sports tires leaving me with this car all abused and on used comfort tires, yet it was the most dramatic race! Because it has over 500hp and no downforce the little tires were overwhelmed and this was a power slide machine all race long! Like a good dumb action movie, this was a guilty pleasure to enjoy!!

4) Ferrari 812 Superfast One Make - Ferrari 812 Superfast ‘17; 750PP on Sports Soft tires: I love Trial Mountain but this race was such a letdown, I like this car but the feeling of being almost compulsory use is making me not being able to enjoy it as much, still the car is quick on acceleration and handled this one ok, another battle with the lead car too

IMG_7560.webp

5) World Touring Car 800 - Ford Mustang Gr.3; 787PP on Racing Soft tires: 1 stop at lap 6 for fresh tires and refuel, surprised that the whole pack stayed together almost the whole race! Lots of mistakes too by the ai on the chicane but Portilla battled me the last two laps! Two American cars fighting for 1P on Monza, but in the end the mighty Mustang stomped the slithering Viper for the win, also the Mustang with a livery from me based on IMSA GTD Pro

Overall not a bad choice for races this week, only some strange ai behavior but the good thing the races itself are better balanced compared to what we were getting this past month, got $10k from a 4* daily too

Decent week. And as usual I've done all these races before except the special.

Used the same car I did the Autopolis race in last time. Back then it was below 450pp. After a few updates, the car went up to 450.59pp. lol Won by a few seconds.
