This Kangoo race is pretty fun!

“Built” what I’d call a spec racer to 400pp and getting loads of nose to tail racing:

Autopolis - Audi TT Cup '16 - Tried a 5RM-5RM strategy. No major blunders. I just couldn't make any real gains on the leaders in this car. There was no rain. Maybe I need to get lucky with the weather to have a shot with the Audi, because it was struggling just to keep up.
The fastest field I saw needed 1:51 or better to catch up with a pit stop for a full refuel and tyres, slowest was around 1:53-54 to win but that had a couple of much slower laps due to rain. Might be possible in the TT if you tune it, otherwise I think you're just rolling the dice until the AI messes up strategy, sometimes they pit an extra time on lap 9.

The AI has some serious rubberband in their arsenal. Not only do the Camaros at Daytona clock in at around 190 mph on a stock engine while real ones are more or less aero limited to 170-180, but the Kangoos on comfort softs and an engine with a redline 1000 rpm lower than what mine has, hang with me on straights and corner with me - and mine has sports softs, and I'm lapping at low 1'20s.

Couldn't catch the Camaro and Viper. P3 it was.

AI Lambo using me as a brake into T1. Bone stock Manu NSX. Grabbed P1 as I was exciting pits with the five leaders ahead of me. They were all super slow exiting pit lane and I passed between them and the pit lines before rejoining the track!

Race 1 at Daytona was pretty much straight forward, as long as your car reaches around 300 kmh top speed you're good to go. I had restricted my swapped Ford Roadster to 600 PP ( 415 hp / SH ) and that was perfect for a tense race. Reached and overtook Cajal in the yellow Camaro not before the final meters. Sadly I got that feeling he had let me win ... or why did he he slow down from 285 kmh to 260 kmh just like that on the last lap ? 🔰

Now the race at Eiger Nordwand was super fun. Initially I tried with a 380 PP version but the car was too slow going uphill so I couldn't do better than 6th. Switched to my standard 410 PP setup ( 140 hp / CS ) and made my way through the field until I reached Papadopoulos. Now believe it or not, that guy gave me a hell of a race for almost a whole lap, the best fun I had against an AI car in a long time. Took P1 after that right-hand kink uphill. 🔰

At Goodwood I used my new swapped Citroen Pallas ( 260 hp / RH ) for the first time. My first attempt gave me a P3 podium. I was way too cautious throughout the race getting to grips ( literally ) with the car and trying to find its strengths so I just couldn't catch the two leading Lambos. The second attempt was way better, got in the lead at the end of lap 4 and was cool enough to keep my car on the tarmac with van der Heyden and Rossi in my rearview mirror. 🔰

I always enjoy taking my old Dino to track - such a wonderful car and a blast to race with. Used a 665 PP setup ( 365 hp / SS ) and just like the Ford at Daytona it proved to be a great choice for this Ferrari challenge. Wanted to mention that the car once had that same issue that's been reported above, becoming uncontrollable at the bottom of the downhill section leading to the main straight. Raising the ride hight and stiffening the front suspension did help a lot. 🔰

There's no better place to be than at Autopolis in the rain ! With another first time drive. Hopped into my new swapped Lexus LC500 sitting at 690 PP ( 585 hp / RH ) and after two laps of getting comfortable with the car and using gears 3 4 5 only it was pure joy. Such a smooth drive, that LS7 engine growl ... heaven ! Needed to run the car on FM6, had one stop when the rain set in and brought it home on completely worn tires. 🔰

Done and dusted.

Autopolis - Audi TT Cup '16 - Rain turned out to be the key to this one for me -- not because I was faster than the AI, but only because the AI is so bad at adjusting their strategy to it. I had planned to do a 6RH-4RM race, but rain came on lap 5, so I changed to IMs. The rain only lasted a lap, but I stayed out on the IMs for a couple more laps while the track dried. The front tires were absolutely fried. Pitted at the end of lap 8 for a sprint to the finish on RSs. At the end of lap 9, a bunch of cars went into the pits. I jumped from P11 to P3 on the straight into the final lap. I managed to hold that position to the finish for the final ticket.

RACE 5 - WTC700 at AUTOPOLIS
Less than Radical Results

R5 - Radical - Action - 1.jpg

STRATEGY
I went in with a newly swapped Radical SR3. Racing Medium tires, 1 stop strategy, FM3 with short shifting.

I added 199kg of ballast near the rear to combat the annoying power-oversteer that I remembered the car for. The oversteer was fixed, but the radical just didn’t have the grip. And the tire wear was the standard atrocious for this race. Fuel consumption was good though; I could have gone FM1 in the second stint after filling up.

Kokubun in the Mazda, along with the other three leaders tried to stay out forever and failed utterly. They had to pit twice – at the end of lap 7 for fuel, and again at the end of lap 9 for the tires that they all had forgotten to change. Watch out for Kevelham in the Toyota 86. He had the most sensible pit strategy [read: he had just enough tire life to make the dumb pit strategy work] and had a fastest lap in the 1:55s.

I finished with a ~22 second lead. I always get a bone dry race on my first run. But whenever I return to do fastest runs, PD says, NO. Learn to drive in the wet

R5 - Radical - Results.jpg

Verdict:
  • The AI is kinda fast, but has a dumb pit strategy
  • Find the car with the best tire wear (racecars / modern road cars with super wide tires)
  • All the respect to the Time Trial Gods who got the modern road-going NSX to wallow around these mid-speed corners at similar speeds with double the weight and Sports Medium tires
  • As always, if you’re having trouble, call the @smoothbore12 Police / release the Turbo Hamster [Escudo]

With the longest race done, I'm free to take my Hydropneumatic Hero on his first trip around Goodwood...

I did it with my TSO 030 in a dry race non stop and just from curiosity i took the Police car the second time .
I put half of them in jail and if wasn't about the CRB and the non suitable gearbox ( left it at 330 ) only a couple of them might be able to escape 😂

My cars for this week’s challenges:

it’s Classics Cars week!

For the American race, nothing beats having a cool evening breeze at Daytona on the american granddaddy of them all, the Shelby Cobra 427

IMG_5448.jpeg

For the Kangoo, well, a Kangoo on rush delivery!!

IMG_5450.jpeg

For the Classic Car challenge, a very eager Passo Corto in Rosso Scuderia is a match made in heaven:

IMG_5453.jpeg

For the Ferrari challenge, you’ll never be wrong manhandling a very eager 308:

IMG_5451.jpeg

The Superfast is well, fast but it’s a grand tourer; while the 308 just begs to be raced!!

IMG_5449.jpeg

And for the WTC, the modern classic, the ‘92 NSX; Senna would be proud!!

IMG_5452.jpeg

All wins on hard difficulty:
1. Ford GT40 Mark I '66 - 600pp,SH
2. Kangoo - 508pp,CM (OP)
3. Ferrari 308 GTB '75 - 580pp,SM
4. Ferrari F40 '92 - 700pp,RH
5. Subaru Impreza 22B-STi '98 - swap engine,678pp,RM,one stop on lap 5,FM4
All cars with @praiano63 tunes.

I came up slightly short the first time in the Daytona race due to the OP Camaro even though it's rubber band suddenly runs out on the last lap. I dropped the tires from SM to SH and increased the power to get back to 600pp and passed the Camaro midway of the last lap.
The Ferrari 308 is a dream to drive and I took the lead at the start of lap 4. I really like the tune on this car.
The Subaru is a beast in the 700pp races. I took the lead as I crossed the line to start lap 4. A brief heavy rain hit at the start of lap 5 and the NSX came out of nowhere to be on my tail midway through the lap. By the end of the lap it had fallen behind by 8 seconds. The AI behaviour in this race is strange.

I did do last week's weekly but iI kinda nuked the final race, but iI did it with the following vehicles;(NA CARS ONLY ROUND 2)

As for this week's weekly vehicle selection well here is what I used; (NA CARS ONLY ROUND 3)
Screenshot_2025-05-24-02-04-18-856.jpeg

  1. Highly modified DeLorean on sport hard tyres - this one was easy enough, got first place on the final lap, not much else to say here since it's a GT oval event sooo yeah..
  2. 410pp modified NA kangoo on comfort mediums - this one was modified slightly more than the last time the kangoo race rolled around, turns out giving parts with higher revlimits helped on the hill! Was able to win by the final lap
  3. 580pp highly tuned super bee on sports hards with a stock gearbox - the stock gearbox helped bring the pp down and was more than enough of a drop to fit in the event, braking was tricky but not undrivable, got the win by the start of the final lap.
  4. Stock 812 with diffuser, rear wing and 4WS kit (set to 99/100) - other than terrifyingly early braking distances tis race wasn't too rough, aside from the monumental understeery on the final section too it drove quite nicely! First place by lap 4
  5. Racing medium tyres no stop FM6 BVLGARI VGT - I...just nuked this race because I don't enjoy autopolis haha
Hopefully we don't have a frustrating final race next week!

Pretty decent week. The most fun was the Kangoo race and Goodwood.
WTC700 was in my Gr.4 Lambo. I don't remember what I had won this with a long time ago so I just picked this car. Easy win with one stop for tires and fuel.

Deep Forest was in the Superfast which I had not driven yet. It's a handful,IMO. Too much for that track. Dirty race. Won it.

Goodwood was close in my John Morton 240 on RS. They got me on the long straights but I had them in the twisties. Won it by a few car lengths.

The Kangoo special came down to the last turn. That Papadopoulos has some jets in his van. lol I was weak on the uphill and he was leaving me by a bit. Got him on the last turn of the last lap.

SVG put them to rest at Daytona in his supercar. It was over before the 1st lap ended. 194mph tops ended it.
