Is Streets of Willow reverse a new track layout ? Not sure. I'm sure though I'd never driven this before. So needed 4 or 5 attempts learning the track to win this cleanly with my 405 PP detuned Z4 on CM. Came in fourth, won after running into other cars, won after leaving the track and finally made it. I've always loved Streets of Willow, the reverse layout hasn't got that appeal though so far.

Now the race at Dragon Trail with the new BX was horrible. Don't get me wrong, the BX is an ok car. Mine sat at 372 PP, I had modded it little by little to just be on par with the fastest AI cars in a straight line. What really buggered me was their behavior ( or programming ) because it again felt as if they're just there to hinder you at all costs from advancing. Ridiculous.

The other three races were business as usual. Used the LM55 VGT Group 1 at Tokyo because ... it simply was there. The Genesis VGT is a beast but couldn't defend of course through the turns. At Lake Maggiore it's been my 670 PP 430 Scuderia on SS. It's my current go to Ferrari besides the Dino. Overtook the F8 on lap 3 and had him following me for the rest of the race with a big enough gap. Now last but not least Suzuka, ran it with the Valkyrie for the fun it is - such a great car, I'm in awe every time. Used RH and FM1 for a one stop race, pitted after lap 6 for fuel and tires. Had a little rain later but not enough to force another pit stop.

Eat my dust, everyone ...

I ran 4 races across midnight on Thursday night:
Last week's Sunday Cup in my BX
Last week's Historic Race in my BX (could only manage third)
This week's Sunday Cup in my BX
This week's BX Race in my... 🤣

Disappointed to see that the blue BX isn't "grandad blue" - that was his Phase I BX so there must have been a different shade of blue then.
However, the race did have "grandad red"...

No, that's not a tear in my eye, it's an onion I am cutting, honest......

Not much of a big deal, but for me Street of Willows reverse, VGTs and Ferrari one make are all a big red flag for me. Just don't like them, won't be touching the weeklies this time.

However the Sunday Cup at Willows I'll complete it at some point just to restore a 100% completion though.

I'm starting to get annoyed with this WTC800 race at Suzuka in the Aston Martin V12 Vantage. Three attempts. All dry. Best I've been able to manage so far is a P6, 3 seconds back from P3. I've been doing a 6RM-4RS strategy, with some short-shifting on the first stint to get the fuel to last. I feel like it needs to rain for me to have a shot at a podium here. Does it ever actually rain, though?

I've run it a few times, only once did I have enough rain to change tyres and that was for only 2 laps. All the other attempts have just had nothing past a small amount of drizzle.

... with the right settings and the appropriately small and nimble vehicles there's a good custom race to be had there.
LOL I went the opposite way, just couldn't resist, and took the Unimog where it belongs. It's everything but small and nimble but I had good and fun races nevertheless. And while trying to run sub 2.50 ( cleanly that's understood ) I slowly found out about that track layout. It's still not as familiar as the standard lap though.

I just did this race this morning. At the end of lap 6 I got light rain, came in for IM, and left the pits to a downpour. By the end of lap 7 rain had stopped but the track was still wet until the last lap or 2. The AI pitted to change tires twice, so it was a fairly easy race.

When I ran it on my alternate account it was wet the last half of the race.

Try the Epson NSX unless you're committed to using a Gr.3.

Your race video made me wondering and curious, again. We had that in former weeks already that someone asked for the setup / power / performance points of the car we see. Your answer always was that you show off the respective car in your Weekly Challenges Guide video. And that's what I went with to now. Well, the BX in your current guide has 354.10 PP and I simply can't believe that it's possible to demolish the competition and run these lap times with said car. Is it lack of imagination on my side - or is it another BX setup ? Or is there a glitch with the car's PP calculation ?

If I recall, all it consisted of was a different tire compound, it was mostly centered on getting the car to turn better as I didn't do any power upgrades. Article seemed to indicate the AI weren't using heavy modifications so I didn’t go crazy with my changes. Will do a proper check when I get the chance.

Of Course the Ai's driving here in particular tends to one the slowest regardless of difficulty, making my run appear way more dominant.

Sunday Cup @ Willow Springs: Lightly tuned (SH's, filter, exhaust) Citroen BX. Tried it stock 1st time round but the race isn't long enough to work your way to the front.

Citroen BX One-Make @ Dragon Tail: Same car as above. Much easier win on a longer track.

Vision Gran Turismo Trophy @ Tokyo: Lamborghini VGT: Don't like VGTs. Don't like Tokyo Expressway. Felt like i was playing Wipeout 2097. Done. Gone. Forgotten.

Ferrari Circuit Challenge @ Lago Maggorie: Ferrari F40. Tried originally in the 308 GTB that i used succesfully in other Ferrari Challenge events - came 2nd a long way back from the winning F8. My near-standard F40 wasn't lapping much quicker than my highly tuned 308, but the F8 started just a place or two ahead and was bogged down in traffic. Race seems very dependent on how the starting grid is delt.

World Touring Car 800 @ Suzuka: Lexus SC430. Did a quick single lap to check fuel consumption. Figured from that i could easily no-stop it running a conservative fuel strategy. Made little progress through the field for the first 5 laps (got upto about 16th) Then rain hit on and off for a couple of laps, not enough to warrant a change to wets, but enough to throw the rest of the field into disarray. Got into the the top 4 by lap 8 but was well off the lead pack. They all pitted on lap 9 with only the leader Igor Fraga in the Toyota(?) getting out of the pits ahead of me. Followed him increasingly distantly on worn RH's through the final lap before catching him loads through 130R and taking a Senna-like dive into the chicane for the win.

I had an absolute blast at Suzuka using the Z4-swapped M4 (2014), fully tuned except for leaving it with no Turbo. Light rain confused the AI somewhat, but i hung on with my 2 sets of RMs.

LOL...If there would have been time penalties for hitting the guardrales, my lap time would had been somwehere around 8 minutes per lap...
Yeah, same  Think i'd have been quicker in one of the slower VGT's instead of smacking into the walls all the time. But just wanted it over and done with as soon as.

Hmm, then I must be completely wrong here, since I absolutely love both Tokyo and VGTs! :)

What I dislike is all kind of BoP-enabled races such as the Gr.4 and Gr.3 event categories. In my opinion BoP destroys all fun - but that is of course the PoV of somebody who calls himself an average driver at best... :P Anyways, I'm glad that those races are not occuring in the Weeklies.

The secret is the SS tires that he is using in the video. In his videos that I have watched, he almost always uses a higher grade tire compound than the AI uses in the special events. On a stock car, these tires were about 7 seconds per lap faster than the CS tires I used in my original race. Here is the result using the SS tires and no other mods on hard difficulty. I even think he may have been on normal difficulty based on the total race time of the 2nd place AI in his video compared to the total time of the AI in my results.

Guess your assumptions and estimations are quite close to what it really is - and match with my own experience. The 372 PP car I used was on CM tires with a tiny bit more power than stock instead, around 113 hp. That made my car hardly faster than the fastest AI, nowhere near what we see in the video. I think that's been normal or even easy difficulty. My laps were 2.09, so that matches with the times you ran in your tests. 👍;)

Can confirm it was just tire compounds. Attempted to do it on the stock tires but didn't like how it felt and didn't feel like doing any tuning so just bought those tires and that did it. @ROCKET JOE

So usually (more often then not), I actually have a dedicated racing build for those and they often include superior tire compounds just because that's what I built those on (That 2018 Aston Martin Vantage being a perfect example). I really like doing builds so I usually try to spring for something with those races if I feel like I can.

As for difficultly, can't remember what I used for that specific race but I know I changed it to hard for the Vision GT race before just because I wanted to see if it was the difficulty or was the slicks and aero on the Lexus making THAT much a difference and it turns out, its just that overpowered.

Decided to give it a go on the Hardest setting just to see if I could get close to what I did in the video (Even if I don't remember the actual setting):

Seems like its pretty possible, appears to depend heavily on where I catch cars.

What did you do to the car to cut over 15 seconds from the total race time and over 4 seconds from your best lap in the video?

Again, the car is stock other then the tires. I have the video to post if need be but honestly, I'm just chucking the thing around on those Sports Softs. One thing I remembered from all my time here in GT Sport was that I tend to carry alot of speed in Turn 1, Turns 6-8 as well as Turns 9-12

The attempts at this track for the video were the first time I had driven on it in a while (I just don't drive on it regularly) so I wasn't as sharp. By the time I made that second attempt yesterday, I kinda remembered properly how I drove here.

Would be cool to see the video. It's a great time, so do us a favor - let us see your lines, braking, gearing, split times etc.

Here’s a stock car with CM tyres on hard difficulty:

It does depend on how the AI have been rolled round for the race. But I did it a second time for a different AI roll while going slightly faster:

Here's the video in question @ROCKET JOE @jlbmel :

Due to me forgetting how long the race actually was, I mistakenly saved 5 minutes so most of the first lap is gone. that's a goof on my part. Other then that, you can see where I carry the speed in those corners.

While not too bad, I ended up discovering there was abit more then I initially remembered:
Gran Turismo® 7_20250701152803.png

So long story short now that its all coming together: I was in a rush (Think I was trying to get the recording all done before the maintenance and update to another game I had so it was a busy night). I set the difficulty setting to Normal as I really didn't fancy spending too much time with the WTC 800 race in the rain (which ironically wasn't even as bad as I was expecting it) and just never changed it by the time I got to the Special Event. Didn't like how the car felt and wanted to get it done quickly so got those power mods to basically get it over with. That didn't help the handling so I got the Sports Softs and there was the race I had for the video.

Gran Turismo® 7_20250701152836.png

Out of fairness, I decided to give this another go but sans those power mods and that's the video you see here:

Guess I didn't need the power mods after all

So yeah, sorry about all that. I'm usually upfront on the stuff I use but with how much I was rushing things, it got abit muddied here.

Just a heads up, the linked videos are private. You'll want to make them unlisted so that they're viewable here. That means it can only be viewed if people have the link or if the video is embedded.
