Good job, mate, good run. How did you do it ? Power added but CS tires, 200 kg of ballast and max rear DF ? No, seriously, can you post your setup sheets ? I'm interested ... as always. ;)
Hahaha actually you're not far off lol. Massive ballast and massive DF with Sports Softs. Oh and nitro. 😎

So, I've been busy with one race over the last several days...

Ferrari 812 Superfast One-Make: Mission 1 Minute
My car
812 Super Beatdown.jpg

Azuza does not forgive.gif

The Goal: Put all the AI opponents down by 1 minute.

I surprised myself for driving a modern, front-engine Ferrari a lot this week. And around a modern F1 track as well! What was more surprising [disturbing] was that I began to like it.

The rear weight bias, four wheel steering and the deleted chicane definitely helped.

OBSERVATIONS ON THE CAR
  • The 812 Superfast is modern car quick, has near racecar braking / cornering, but does it all with smoothness and much less fuss than Gr.3 cars
  • Any gear lower than 3rd is purely for rotating the car / turning rubber into smoke
  • Nearly 1000 naturally aspirated horsepower feels absolutely luxurious
  • Accelerating out of low speed corners can be tricky, because despite future tech and rear weight bias, the 812 is still an FR with nearly 1000hp
  • No ability to set the Final Drive gear ratio, even with the Fully Customizable Racing Transmission :boggled: Why?!

OBSERVATIONS ON THE AI
  • Interestingly, how close I got to my goal depended on where certain AI started on the grid - the same as the low PP / stock challenges
  • As usual, when I found myself caught between two AI, the one behind me dive bombs while the one in front brakes early and phases in between the middle of the track and the apex
  • Chua in the black 812 is likely the quickest, but Bumgarner in the white 812 has upgraded aero and at least a little more power with the racing exhaust. A faster AI putting on pressure can make him go faster
  • Carli in the blue 812 is also quick
  • Generally the AI runs 1:47s with fast laps in the 1:44s

THOUGHTS ON THE TRACK
To me, this felt like a track of almosts. Something great lies in the bones of this place, but many corners are more awkward than I am in social settings. And a bunch of those drag on and on. Still, this track was much easier to find some semblence of flow than Fuji. This track felt more like solving a pecular, awkward problem, rather than fighting something designed specificially to frustrate me.

That was an overly complex way of me saying that I like this track. Maybe?

DID I REACH MY GOAL
I got very, very close...

Victory by 59 seconds
812 Beatdown - Results - Closest.jpg

The AI could find around an extra 3 seconds overall when it wanted to. I believe that's the best they can do. My absolute fastest lap was 1:31.8. If I could do very low 1:32s consistently, I may get 7:39-7:40 total time, negating the AI's intermitent extra 3 seocnds, Bringing me to the magical 1 minute margin of victory.

Haha I forgot about it also at first. I got the car running really nice with really good lap times but the AI kept swallowing me on the straightaways. Then I remembered the nitro option. You still get swallowed up but with Nitro they don't get as far ahead.

So with much better handling and braking than the AI you can make up positions in the corners. And with Nitro you can sort of keep up without losing too many positions.

The biggest hurdle after that is getting the CRB. A great challenge but also very rewarding when you get it. 🏁

Sorry if that question was discussed here already, but did PD make the Super Formula race in Fuji easier?

I can remeber it took me ages to do this race in the menu book last year. Several attemps over several weeks and lots of swearing until i finaly did it.
But now it felt almost like a walk in the park! I did it twice, at the weekend and yesterday, to check if the first victory was a "error in the system". But no, the 2nd race was more or less a copy of the 1st one. Very few rain, RM tires, a no stop strategy and a victory by 10s without realy pushing the car.

Yep, easier...

Yes they did. See point 3 in other changes in patch 1.54.

Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges: All for N-One

New Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges will becomes available over the next few hours, depending on your local time zone, bringing some of Update 1.61’s new content into this money-spinning bonus mode...
Say @Famine, you know where I can find those side stripes? I intend to create a similar livery for my second N-One
Wasn't there a guy that officially made and shared the AI driver liveries?
Are you reffering to Sagittarius?

Say @Famine, you know where I can find those side stripes?
They're standard shapes. I just elongated them, aligned with camera, added two clicks of angle and depth, and rotated them a little.

And they're not quite right

Fun week with the new races. Hadn't driven that version of Alsace for a while so it was a nice change, easy enough with a Qashqai. Red Bull Ring was fun with some rain, AI isn't that fast so you can easily use a lot of stock cars, for me the NISMO R32 had no trouble. The one-make was interesting, I expected it to be a copy of the real series but they have the wide body kits and some mods so I used my tuned N-ONE which ended with me winning by a minute, not sure a stock car would do it but maybe something lightly tuned would work. Hypercar parade is really easy with no Valkyrie so you can try a few different cars out, just have to watch for them occasionally throwing themselves into the gravel. WTC 800 would be a lot better if it used the layout without the chicane but at least the AI isn't that fast. Bit of a weird one given they will try to do the whole race on one set of RH but the tyre wear is pretty severe, in my race several of them had a completely worn left front for a bit of the last lap. I ran a stock DBR9 on RM because I knew I'd have to pit for tyres anyway, pitted on lap 5 and got into the lead on lap 9 when the leader finally pitted, I'd assume that car might not stop if their pace is slower.

Cars for the week:

28-2025.png

1. (Japanese FF Challenge 450)- To start the week, I used the new Qashqai. I must say, this thing's quite nippy for a crossover, although braking leaves something to be desired.
2. (Japanese 4WD Challenge 600) - I used the Mitsubishi GTO that I made specifically for this event. It's very quick almost everywhere, and handles great.
3. (Honda N-One One Make) - I can already tell this little guy my favorite from this update. I used a sort of "N-One Type R" kind of build (Not depicted, I picked the wrong car in scapes mode) - It was a decent challenge.
4. (Hypercar Parade) - I used the Aston Martin Valkyrie I got from the London live stream. It's ridiculously quick for Monza, IMO. Near F1 levels of downforce, and the speed to come with it.
5. (World Touring Car 800) - Used my old reliable, the Mazda 787B. Fuel wasn't a concern, but tyres were. Still, quite easy.

What a killer set of races this week. I loved them all. I especially loved the last race, despite really hating Barcelona (the track, not the city.) I felt like I believed in the power of dreams this week.

Alsace - Test Course_.jpeg

One of the best handling FF cars out there, a stock Intergra is perfect of Alsace. Always had a soft spot for this track, I like the sweeping corners and elevation changes.

Red Bull Ring__2.jpeg

There's very few AWD Hondas, so I opted for the new NSX. Very minimal mods, with SM tires. Did the trick, handles great.

Suzuka Circuit__1.jpeg

The N-One handles great with a few suspension tweaks! I love the exhaust burbles, and I love that they decided to use the full circuit instead of the short one. What a little rocket.

Autodromo Nazionale Monza__2.jpeg

I had doubts that this would do the trick. I tuned it to the max to ensure I had a chance. I think I went too far. I was leading by the second lap, it just goes and goes and goes.....

Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya GP Layout_.jpeg

My favourite event of the week. I slapped the medium RPM turbo with SM tires, and it went the whole race without needing to pit at all. Zero downforce meant that it required great car control, and I was still lapping at 1:53ish min. I'm sure better drivers than me can go faster. Highly, highly recommend. Made it so much fun.

My picks for this week. Going to try out some of these newly added cars...

Three down, so far (hard difficulty)...

weekly-challenge-202507w4-r1.jpg

Alsace - Nissan Qashqai Tekna e-Power '22 - Threw on some SS tires and went for a drive. What a dull drive it was. Easy win. First ticket obtained.

weekly-challenge-202507w4-r2.jpg

Red Bull Ring - NISMO R34 GT-R Z-tune '05 - The car was already slightly over the suggested PP, but I threw on some SS tires just to be safe. It was too much. Easy win for the second check mark.

weekly-challenge-202507w4-r3.jpg

Suzuka - Honda N-ONE RS '22 - I briefly tried entering with only a tire upgrade to SS. It was pretty obvious that I wasn't going to be able to keep up. Went back to the tuning shop and installed the sport-level upgrades. That was just enough to make it a race. The other cars were still way faster on the straights, but I made all kinds of gains in the turns. Just barely squeaked by for the win at the final run through the Casio triangle. Second ticket obtained.

Same here! I had it as close to 400PP as i could. Comfort Softs, and a complete suite of Sports/Clubsports upgrades, along with wide aero kit and a smidgen of weight reduction. It was pretty amazing slaloming through the traffic along the esses, great fun!

I then took it straight to the Alsace test course and embarrassed the poorly AI-driven Integra, Civic et al. They were all cautious through the roller-coaster section whilst I flew past them at 140kph!
