Solid week of races, except for the special event. The Qashqai is very boring to drive, which is how I imagine it to be in reality.

Goodwood Motor Circuit_.webp

Decided to go classic with this one, like its meant to be. I love Porsches, so the 356 is the natural choice. I got a stock one recently and that's what won the race.

Brands Hatch Indy Circuit_.webp

yawn

Fuji International Speedway__2.webp

Another Porsche! My engine swapped 930 is a regular for the Le Mans grind. It handles great and really goes on and on down the long straight. One of my favourite cars.

Autodrome Lago Maggiore - East End_.webp

One of the best kei cars is actually the Jimny. Its lovely and fun to drive, once you firmed the suspension up a bit. Glides around the corners.

Tokyo Expressway - East Clockwise_.webp

One of my Tokyo grind cars is the engine swapped Honda Beat!. I didn't feel like challenging myself with this race. Easily won the race.

Won the Bugatti VGT Gr.3 car with my ticket, as well as some part for the Toyota Crown safety car. Yeah, what a prize, huh.

Knocked out the remain three (hard difficulty)...

weekly-challenge-202508w1-r3.webp

Fuji - Mitsubishi Concept XR-PHEV EVOLUTION VGT - There was just barely enough room in the PP limit to upgrade to RM tires, so I did. Not sure if I needed to, though. This car just flew. For a VGT, it was surprisingly fun to drive. Easy win. Second ticket obtained.

Lago Maggiore - Honda S660 '15 - I've tried this race in this car before and not had any luck at all. This time was different because I installed the low-RPM turbo (despite it giving a hit to the PP). Lots of other mods, too. It made for a good race. Took the lead on the penultimate lap. Fourth box checked.

Tokyo Expressway - Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm '20 - Stock, the car is a fraction of a point under the PP limit. I considered switching from the SH tires to SM, but that would have required a fair bit of detuning. I decided to run it stock. The car few on the straight, but was prone to slide into the wall in the corners if I entered with too much speed. I had to short-shift a bit to get the fuel to last 6 laps. Pitted only for fuel. Easily gained to P3 and briefly into P2, but ended up giving it back to the GT-R after another bump into the wall. Still, good enough for the final ticket. It gave me a Honda NSX Type R '02.

I know I’m in the minority but I really like the Mitsubishi VGT, just wish it had an interior.

Thanks, I’ll give it a shot 👍🏻

I've done and won 4 of the races already, I'm now heading for Tokyo. The last time I ran this race was back in my grinding times with the DP-100. Any tips to get this done ?
Best tips I've learned from doing this race in stock cars and SH tires is smart usage of fuel, tires, gearing, and draft.

For tires I try to stay on the wet parts where it's safe to do so. So basically when the car isn't turning, find a wet patch. If you do that all over the track, lap after lap, it slows down the tire wear giving you that little bit more grip in the corners for each lap.

Fuel saving is needed in stock cars if you want to jump the RX7 in the pits. And by fuel saving I mean short-shifting, coasting, and staying in higher gears through the bendy bits. For example I stay in 5th or 6th gear through the middle section. There is a wonderful flow to this section. Once you get your eye in you can get through it really fast in the higher gears.
It also helps with traction and tire wear which is a bonus.

One example is the hairpin at the end. It's a bitch because the tuned AI cars always come out of the corner much faster than your stock car. So instead of hoping for a miracle, I stay in 3rd gear and putt around the corner saving tire wear and fuel.

And finally - drafting. Tuck in behind another car everywhere you can. Even hold back overtaking on some corners if it's more beneficial to use their slipstream on the next straight. You can either overtake them on the straight or save fuel by staying behind them and dropping the gears.

All in all, smarter not harder. It's my favorite grind track for this very reason. It takes the grind out of grinding. It makes it more challenging and ultimately more fun for me.

Hate that Tokyo race so I just did the other four 🙄
I hate Tokyo period, so I usually skip anything involving that location. The other four were somewhat entertaining.

Actually did the K cup race twice, trying to win it in the Suzuki Carryall. I was on the back bumper of 2nd place, on try two. The Suzuki just doesn't have the speed, but is probably the way I set it up. It won the Club race at Goodwood easily.

I was glad to get the Quazy junk race done. What a miserable car.

Not a huge fan of Fuji, but running the engine swapped Demio was a blast.

Well this turned into a crazy weekend where I overspent on a couple of engine swaps which turned out of no use to me.
Started off with Fuji which I've ran a few times this past week. Decided to use my TT race car on RM's. Easy win.
Fuji International Speedway_ (5) by 2cam16, on Flickr
The Kei race is always a challenge so I used my usual Daihatsu. It went down to the last few turns for me to win it.
Autodrome Lago Maggiore - East End Reverse_ by 2cam16, on Flickr
The Q race is forgettable. I hope we dont' have anymore in the future but sadly E-cars are just going to increase everywhere in life. lol Easy win in my "fully" modded Q.
Brands Hatch Indy Circuit_ by 2cam16, on Flickr
Brought out my Honda S on SS. Lightly modded. Good racing versus Valerio, seen here giving me the evil-eye when I overtook him. lol Won by a second and a half.
Goodwood Motor Circuit_ by 2cam16, on Flickr
I was getting the Tokyo race confused with the other WTC one and of course it was the one I hadn't passed yet because I was having a tough time. Tried the swapped Celica but that wasn't great. Tried a 2J swapped RCF but that was a fail too. EJ swapped Renault=another fail. Ended up with my stock LFA which I brought up to 599pp. Lots of battlescars at the end. Was in 6th when I pitted before lap 7 for fuel. Came out in 9th. Then others ahead of me started pitting. Valerio pitted on lap 9 and just passed him as he was exiting the pits. Had to try and keep a few seconds gap over him for the final podium spot. Ended up in third and WAY behind the two up front. I'm done with that race. Forget 1st place. lol

Won this Aston which I hadn't owned yet so a keeper.

Hey, guys. What is the best car/tires/tune for the 5th race in the weekly challenge. I am doing something wrong…
I put a link in the article to the specific discussion thread for that race. There's a few... hundred ideas in it, but you might prefer to look at the later pages as the earlier ones date back to 2022 and a few physics updates ago.

So which car/tires/tune is working?
I second @jad_morffier, the LFA is a great car for this race. It's a fast and safe drive even full stock. No tuning needed here.
I've just done my third run for my third victory including CRB. Around 20 sec in front of Kokubun. 👍

@jad_morffier What times did roughly run with the stock AMG C63 ? I tried this, could reach the podium with CRB, but the car ( of course ) is about 5 sec per lap slower than the LFA.

That side by side pic of the Alfa and Honda is gold. The drivers are even glaring at each other.

Just avoid crossing the white lines and hitting any cars.

I don't know , i hit and get hit by many cars ,( ok i know walls doesn't count ) but still i got CRB .
Don't know if it's for weeklies only - which i don't think so - but that's how it happens.

Also i get 2nd place at Key cars ( 🤬) and have to do it again.

I think it depends on how hard you hit them and what panel. Trading paint is ok. If your side by side and slightly in front I don't think it registers either.

If you get by other cars it doesn't usually count either.

I don't like coming second haha but with a Kei car race like this, that's the best I can do without tuning.

Didn't bother with getting a Clean Race for the WTC600 race...

This week challengers.
The dull Nissan Cashcow (this costs 39.000 cr?! I gave it a personal design Nismo livery, the only exciting feature on the car. I slammed it and put 6 degrees camber on it,just because. The Brands Hatch Indy course didn't really challenge any driver, like ever, in any race. Just perfect for this grandpa vehicle.
Brands Hatch Indy Circuit_.webp

Then I rushed in my Honda N-one via the small streets of Venice to lake Maggiore, not knowing if it was nearby but the scenery was magic. I came 2nd place in the Kei race with a nose length difference. Then I went for a sea food snack.
Rio di Santa Giustina_.webp

I flew over to England again to release my flower power little gem on the Goodwood revival track. It screamed and it roared, it was the star of the show. I love this puppy.
Goodwood Motor Circuit_.webp

Still hung over from the royal victory afterparty in Goodwood and with a fair jet lag, I ended up on the wrong gate of the Fuji Speedway arriving in my Nascar inspired Lexus FC with the infamous Chiron engine swap for the turbo race. Of course I had to detune it to a miserable 800hp yet it flew over that straight like a bullet. That was, quite literally, a blast.
Westelijke poort_.webp

And to save the best for last, I drove from the mountains to the capital of Japan in my newly delivered and painted Ford GT40. Being a 7 million street car it feels at home on the shiny sparkling roads of Tokio City. I was quite late so I had to start behind the rest of the pack. Needing no refuel nor new tyres on fuel map 3 and not using traction control, I felt confident. Still lost the race in the final straight when I was caught up by the Mazda RX7, as my rear tyres were torn and grip was gone. A respectable 2nd place and the third ticket gave me a Zagato VGT... I'd rather have the Zagato Aston Martin though....

Of the 19 stock cars I've had success with so far the AMG C53 was by far the hardest.
I had a go at the C63, ran very similar lap times as you and pitted lap 8 (could've gone to 9) yet I was about 15 seconds off winning. Shows how much the AI pace can vary, seems to be related to how much Kokobun gets held up early on and if he races Gallo.

For anyone struggling there's a bunch of cars that'll win it stock, LFA, GT-R, XJ220, F430, Vantage, Corvette C8. Also any of the Gr.B or Gr.3 road cars with some tuning will do it too, tuned Radical SR3L would also be a good option.

New Challenges, another round of picks!!

1. Sunday Cup Classic: Nissan Skyline 2000GT ‘70; 399PP Comfort Medium tires

This car only had bigger wheels and the semiracing exhaust, all else stock and was a done deal after first lap. Wonderful cockpit view as an added bonus!

2. Nissan Qashqai One Make: Nissan Qashqai ‘22; 447PP Comfort Soft tires

Droning sound drove me crazy

IMG_7118.webp

3. Race Of Turbo Sportscars: Mazda RX-7 Spirit ‘02; 698PP Sport Softs tires

Taking the Dorito powered rocket teaching a lesson to those piston engined cars 🔥🔥🔥

IMG_7119.webp

4. Lightweight K-Cup: Daihatsu Copen ‘02; 399PP Comfort Medium tires

Definitely the best race of them all!! Also again nice flow on the reverse layout this time!

IMG_7114.webp

5. World Touring Car 600: NISMO 400R ‘95; 599PP Sport Hard tires

Only 1 stop for fuel at lap 9; but as always the battle is with Portilla’s NSX, he got aggressive!! But in the end, another win for the all mighty NISMO!
